It felt like the kind of spot where you actually want to sit and stay awhile with your family or friends. The food was comforting and flavorful. The Birria consommé had rich, deep flavor that tasted like it had been simmering for hours, and the Birria tacos were crispy, cheesy, and satisfying. The rice and beans were delicious and the sauces to die for. Everything on the plate felt fresh and homemade. And the beer setup with the lime and salt rim? Perfect on a warm day. Noticed the parking lot was full on a Tuesday. To add it is Cinco De Mayo. They have specials on Tuesdays $20 Margaritas flights & beer buckets. Ordered my food and went to find a seat inside. I noticed the inside wasn't clean much, it was spilled food on the floor & as much empty tables that were available inside the tables were not wiped. I sat outside to avoid having to wipe the table or step on food. Finding a table outside I noticed 3 tables that were full of food/trash. Their condiments table area could've been more cleaned. I noticed the small cups to put sauces were dirty, I had to pick through to find a clean container for my sauces. The lid of the storage for the condiments itself was broken and the area wasn't attended to enough. Sauces were very low & overall messy. While trying to pour my sauces in a very very small container I had to hold the broken lid and swat off flies. That's a lot of work for my green sauce. Our food came out quickly with our drinks. I ordered the 3 street chicken tacos, for my drink I ordered the Guavarita. My friend ordered 3 street chicken & asada tacos & the Mango chilli drink. We both enjoyed the street tacos & both drinks were delicious. This is my second time coming to this location. My first visit was at night. They had a live dj, the place was packed but overall clean and attended to. Overall in the future I may just ordered my food to go if I'm in the area. Many of the lower rated reviews are from their grand opening month in June of 2020, and COVID times. Now pair that stress with the stress of going from a successful food truck to a brick and mortar location, that's a lot for a small business owner. 559 Taqueria has come a long way and if you haven't been since 2020, this place is definitely worth another shot! Now back to the review... I've been here many times now, with my last visit topping them all. The tacos here are amazing and the bar staff is extremely friendly. This time around, I literally ordered every single taco they sell including their rolled taco and... they're all delicious! My fave out of the bunch are the TJ tacos. Small tacos on a four tortillas loaded with carne asada and a mountain of guac! These immediately remind of my days living in San Diego and head to Tijuana for tacos and cheap beers. Their queso taco and red taco are a close second, but honestly I loved them! If you haven't been since 2020; they've redone the bar area and it looks great. I walked in and was greeted with a huge smile from Matthew and Danny who was busy at the bar making and serving drinks. Customers sitting at the bar declared you have come to the correct place the food is incredible. We were quickly given waters and seated by Matthew. Menus were brought to our table, and I placed my order. Chips and guacamole: the chips were fried fresh served in a red basket and were salted, which I love. The guacamole was a very decent sharing portion. The color was bright green and in it were fresh cut cilantro, and diced tomatoes. There were chunky bits of avocado and creamed bits adding to the texture. I missed some brightness in the form of acidity, like lime but it was good. Two item special for $18: I ordered chipotle chicken enchilada and a chile relleno with rice and beans. I am a huge fan of chipotle flavors! The plate was gorgeous, smothered in sauces I immediately dipped my fingers into for tasting and checked the fry on the relleno looking to see if their technique and oil temp was good. The fry was perfect and cutting into the pasilla pepper an intense amount of cheese spilling into the sauce. I typically shy away from enchiladas out because they are often dry, with pencil wood shaving boiled to death chicken inside, you know the kind that gets bigger as you chew? I took a bite looking forward to the sauce and the crema not expecting super moist chicken inside. I bit and sat up straight. The tortillas were thicker than normal, had a very warm corn texture and taste holding up to the slightly spicy, mildly tangy sauce. It danced with the crema and the chicken being moist just sent it home! Beans: the beans were a good mix between creamy and chunks. I'd have loved them with a little more salt. Rice: The rice was noticeably darker than normal Mexican rice. The grains were individually visible and it was not typical dry mushy Mexican rice. The decor was clean, very insta worthy the tables were quickly picked up by Matthew. Matthew should not be overlooked as an employee, he is obviously hardworking, rushes to complete tasks, and is very kind, noticeably kind! The mango margarita was served with a beautiful presentation of dried citrus and chile on top, w a Chile salted rim. Great color contrasts by Danny! The pour was good! The flavors were ever present, tangy, and it was a good drink that I would order and recommend! Watching Danny he is very approachable, makes you feel warm and invited to his bar. As soon as you walk in the door, Danny enthusiastically greets you. He is their bartender/server. The nice lady at the counter was so patient and friendly with me because I wanted to order something I could heat up later today. She suggested the box of 10 tacos. I also got a surf and turf burrito and a bunch of other tacos. There's a great lunch special- for $11.99, I got the chili rellenos, rice and beans! So much food for not a huge price. The birria ramen is really good. The birria has really good flavor. The Tijuana tacos are so good too. They are made with flour tortilla, choice of meat, and the guacamole wraps it all together. The service is unmatched, we sat at the bar and our bartender was so attentive and showed that he's clearly passionate about his craft while he made our cocktails. A friend and I met here for lunch and quasi birthday celebration. First of all they have tons of seating both indoors and out. As it was midday and still somewhat early summer, it was delightful dining outdoors in the covered patio. They have big chairs around tables or bar likeseating up on higher top tables. As my friend is disabled and walks with a cane, we opted for regular table, seating in lovely leather, covered chairs. I believe it was the owner who came out and talked with us about his foods. Oh my goodness they were so scrumptious. We decided on the lunch specials as my friend had eaten there before and so she had various recommendations. The food was exquisitely delicious. They have a unique take on their meats. This is not your average taco joint. They have special sauces which are really delicious and you must try. My friend had the quesadilla and taco combination for lunch and she said the quesadilla was perfect. She had the chicken. I had pork al Pastor, which is one of my favorites and this was great. Came for Mother's Day lunch waited at a table for more than 20 minutes while the table two over from us was helped, drinks delivered, chips brought over and their order taken.My husband got up to tell the waitress we were at the corner table by the door entrance (kind of hidden) waitress proceeded to tell him they are short staff gave him menus and told him when we decided we could come back up and place our order at the register. Honestly I felt that was horrible customer service no one else was placing their order like that and what was the point at sitting at a table she did not take a drink order nor was she even pleasant. I spent way too much money at this place but it was worth every penny! The food is great, it's just that I've noticed as months go by, they reduced the things that were on the asada fries/loaded fries, but they didn't lower the price or anything. They used to fill the plate up. But it's very expensive here. They remodeled it and it's aimed more for alchohol which brings a cozy vibe. Stopped by this place to try their food and has lots of flavor and prices are pretty good for the amount of food you get. Not much seating inside but plenty of seating outside. I did have to go outside to try their salsas which were left uncovered with one already empty. I do see this becoming a potential health issue as bugs can get in the salsa bar outside with no coverings. The nachos here do not disappoint! They're so good and have their own unique flavor that sets them apart from the rest. My husband and I are Mexican food connoisseurs, and on our way home from a road trip we decided to take a chance on 559 Taqueria because the reviews were mixed.. First and foremost, we were greeted by a wonderful server named Marzena, who was super friendly. There was hardly any meat in the enchiladas,... also lukewarm. The chili relleno was a greasy overcooked mess and was full of a greasy blob of cheese. Overall, the whole plate was swimming in sauces and barely edible. It's not very often that we have bad Mexican food, but honestly, this place left us leaving with upset stomachs. Finally decided to give this place a try. Not real busy on a Thursday night. Walk up ordering, they bring it out to you. Lots of to-go orders. Clean inside. Outside was a bit dirty. The Quesataco (not the red) was the crispiest they have to offer, which was not what we were looking for. Beans were good. Rice was tasty but cold. If you like soft tacos, you might give it a try. Visited 559 Tacos this past Sunday and unfortunately had a really disappointing experience. We stood there for quite a while and were never acknowledged at all. The staff was focused on talking to their usual customers, and we just kept waiting with no greeting, no "we'll be right with you," nothing. After giving it some time, we ended up leaving and eating somewhere else. I was really looking forward to trying this place, but the lack of basic customer service made it hard to even place an order. Yeah this place is not my favorite... Let's start with the positives, the one positive... The quesatacos were good! I did 1 chicken and 2 asada. Very dry but the salsa and lime helped. And now the negatives, pretty much everything else... First of all, flies...everywhere...inside & outside. The only way to avoid is it being right next to a fan outside. The whole set up is strange - I'm confused why they make it seem like the cocktail lounge and taco shop are separate, they're in the same small space... You have to stand in line for food and then stand by the again for drinks, a lot of waiting and for what if you're in the same area? Don't waste your time on the drinks, I had a strawberry margarita that didn't even have a hint of tequila. The overall vibe is just not it. I feel like they threw it together to try to make it "aesthetic" but really it looks like they just tried to make it work.
