Why not the French way! "Farm to Table", so you are getting Fresh food. I am all about markets. The market is inside the Grand Central Station. It's a great place to stop and get fresh groceries and prepared packages before heading home, road trip or quick grab for lunch. So many things to choose from, but was in the mood for sushi and fresh fruit. Come on...look at the pics! They fruits was so fresh and tasty. When it comes to sushi I always look at the ratio. And my sushi roll was perfect the ratio of rice and protein was perfect. The bowl was also tasty. Come on folks..this is Farm to Table, so you know it's all good and fresh! Also helps our local markets. If I lived here I would come every day and get something! Will definitely be back!

I completely forgot about Grand Central Market until I passed by it on my way to the post office. I went inside and i noticed that it is on the expensive side. But I had to try Ceriello which has high quality Italian food. Since it was pretty packaged it was just okay. They have other stalls inside but didn't get to try anything else. Maybe next time.

Grand Central Market is my favorite place in Grand Central. I have favorites like Bien Cuit and Murray's. No matter how busy I am, I always stop in to look at the groceries, fruits, ice creams, cheeses, meats, poultry and sushi. Everything looks bright and delicious. If I was a commuter, I would pick up produce to cook dinner every night and know that everything is of the highest quality. Now I often have a pastry from Bien Cuit, look at the variety of Jeni's ice creams at Murray's and taste cheeses. Everything is not uber expensive as one expects.

GCM has such a variety of different food vendors, grocery shops and what I was looking for, Spice and Tease. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place gets pretty busy but it's kept very clean and organized.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff at the various places appear to be friendly. It's located on the far right of GCS, past the Hyatt Hotel.

Grand Central Market is ... you guessed it ... a market inside Grand Central Terminal. I've probably been inside Grand Central hundreds of times, but I can't remember if I'd ever visited the market until I visited with my mom last weekend. There are several stands/counters in the market, the largest of which is Eli Zabar's, which has a produce section, a bread and pastry section, and more. Then there's Murray's Cheese and Marky's (caviar) and more. It's not huge, but it's a great little market if you have some shopping to do after arriving back in the city for a train or if you need some fresh fruit or a black and white cookie or some chocolate or some cheese or or some caviar when you're in the station.

An experience that truly has something for everyone. Walk through the market, and get cheese, meats, fresh prepared foods, semi-prepared foods, candies, cookies and all things baked goods and packaged foods, like chips and crackers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is perfect for a weekend scroll or when passing through Grand Central.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Fun time with very unique vendors! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Enjoyed walking through the market and even with the volume of people there it didn't feel over crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A nice experience overall.

    Easy to miss... Don't!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]With browsing time to spare during a recent trip back east, I came across the beautiful market, and immediately wanted one of EVERYTHING offered at each and every stall!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Well, all I REALLY wanted was a good, old-fashioned, NYC breakfast, some something quick, easy, and CHEAP to take to go on my impending two hour trip up to Connecticut. Lots of quick-ish choices here, I suppose, but NOTHING was cheap (except me!!) so I just browsed for a while and imagined what WONDERFUL "fancy-pants" meals I'd make if I could shop somewhere like this back here in "Armpit," Ohioooooo. So many beautiful meats, cheeses, breads, every spice you could possibly imagine, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, some prepared meals, baked goods, etc... So MUCH!! Ahhhhh, who am I kidding?? I'm so CHEAP that even if a place like this existed near me, I'd still just be a browser!! Get your juices flowing here in the market, then check out the more reasonably priced FOOD HALL (which I didn't discover 'til my return trip!!) downstairs. You CAN'T go hungry here, if you got the $$$

This place was amazing! If I lived near by, I'd shop there every day! The food selection- gourmet & beautifully displayed!

There is a nice variety of loose tea leaves and spices, Maybe take a pass on their fruit. I bought cut up mangoes and watermelons, fresh blueberries, raspberries from Eli Zabars Farm to Market. All of the fruit was good except for the raspberries. Half of the packet was molded, green and black mold on the batch. Gross.

This market is cool definitely a tourist hotspot and overprice for everything. What is a staple of New York City For anyone coming to visit or passing through the train station.

A wonderful feast for the senses here in the market. No matter what you are seeking, you can find it here. In a pinch to bring a treat home or to a party? Come on by for fresh seafood, cheeses, fruit, veggies, sweets, pasta, salads, it's all here! I picked up a crisp local apple that was delicious! Crisp and juicy. Next is a black and white cookie from Eli Zabar. While all of the black and white cookies look the same, there are differences in preparation and taste. This cookie has a hint of lemon and then is a bit dry for me. Having had the cookie from Willam Greenberg, anyone elses cookie doesn't compare for now. I'll suck it up and keep looking. Be sure to walk through this great market before lunch time because it can be crowded.

This place reminded me of a mini chelsea market vibes. Located inside the Grand Central Station. Array of different food booths and even carried a CAVIAR booth. Now thats classy! One booth had samples and it was the gourmet deli meat and cheese area. They had a fruit stand booth, deli meat and cheeses, caviar, fresh seafood, breads and bakery aisle, Aromatics seasonings that is freshly grounded, Produce booth, Hummus section, Japanese sushi booth. Opted for a fruit bowl since I was craving fresh fruits due to the heat and humidity. The fruit bowl consisted of orange, canteloupe, honeydew, strawberries, grapes, pineapples and watermelon. It was refreshing however some of the fruits were not ripe enough. They carried cookies that are shaped of the taxi cab, a metro card LOL excellent souvenir gifts for the foodies. This place is def a foodie vibes place to buy excellent gifts to love ones. I would recommended it since I am a true foodie gal!

    $5 Avocados...OUCH!

I visited right after opening, a little after 10 am (many businesses do not open until 11am, like my beloved Seed+Mill). My first impression was that it reminded me of a food hall similar to what I experienced in various cities in Japan. The variety of foods available is impressive and you really can find it all here, from an Italian grocer to Japanese to the various food stands offering everything from BBQ to the best halvah I've ever had. And there's a Pearl River Mart and other places to find gifts and souvenirs. My favorite of this ilk is Muji Market, which has all the Japanese amazing things! Also of note: very clean bathrooms. It reminds me of the bathrooms at Grand Central, a lot of stalls, sinks in the center, only much, much more pleasant. I'll be back as soon as I can. It's silly that I didn't come here when I actually lived in New York.

The physical location is open to 10pm though most shops and restaurants inside are closed by 8-9pm, only a handful of places like Chote Miya, Miznon, and La Devocione were still open though also wrapping up business for the evening. Wanted to highlight a few more stores here for this review: - Moon Man Foods: a Brooklyn-based company, they have a small stand about a third of the way thru the market (walking east to west), selling southeast Asian kaya jam, which is coconut-based and contain eggs, coconut milk, sugar, starch, and salt. They come in pandan, ube, and Java palm sugar (aka gula melaka) flavors. - Pearl River Mart and Pearl River Mart Foods: back in the day they used to be located in SoHo on Broadway, though rising rents made them relocate, and I'm glad they're still around! They carry all sorts of Asian-inspired decor, serving ware, stationery, and their "Foods" location downstairs is combination of Asian grocery, bubble tea (Milk & Tea), and Korean and Chinese snack/takeout stands (Kimbap Lab and Mao's Bao's). - Muji Market: this is a smaller location that carries a narrower assortment than your average Muji (house wares, basic apparel, accessories, kitchenware, snacks), though they have a full cafe serving coffee and matcha, simple Japanese lunch items like bowls, sandwiches and bento. Cafe prices seem a little higher probably due to the location. - gallery art: there is a small whitewashed hallway gallery of maybe a couple dozen small pieces by local artists, featuring NYC-centric photos, sketches, paintings, multi-media. Found this fun and entertaining!

You know a place is doing something right when there's only one item on the menu. My only downside was the price. At around $25-$27 for a cheesesteak, it's definitely on the expensive side, but it's absolutely worth trying at least once and who knows maybe you will back for more! You order at the counter, so there is not much to say about the service. The shop has standing bar tops along the walls, giving it more of a grab-and-go vibe than a sit-down restaurant. The restaurant itself there is no where to sit its standing room only. You can enjoy your sandwich there at a standing bar little area. I got here before it opened. When we were finally able to be let in and I got my order in it was another 15-20 min wait. Which was a tad annoying. You will get a text when it is ready. They should also call out names.. what if your phone is dead? Anyways, also the music in here was good don't get me wrong but they should turn it down a bit. There is only one kind of sandwich they serve here and you have the choice of adding on the side sweet or spicy peppers. I got sweet and they made the sandwich that much better too. Whatever the actual name, it seems that this Mediterranean specialty store has been open since 1947, run first by the Smitsis Family, and then the Karamouzis (including brothers Sotiris, Dinos, and Panayiotis). The Karamouzis moved it a few doors north to its present location in 1983. The neighborhood around the store has evolved a great deal over the years, but inside, old world charm persists. Everywhere you look there are bulk bins, barrels, and sacks brimming with: - Spices: all the staples needed for Mediterranean, Indian and North African cuisines, including za'atar, dried tamarind, cloves, allspice, rock salt, cumin, coriander, turmeric, paprika, red pepper, black mustard seed, etc... - Dried fruits: pineapple, apricots, raisins, figs, diced orange peel, dates, etc... - Dried nuts: cashews, macadamias, almonds in every form, walnuts, pistachios, etc.. - Grains, beans, lentils, and flours - Coffee I love that International Grocery has stuck with bins and barrels for all these years. Bulk bins were the norm when the store first opened and are so much more environmentally friendly than the ubiquitous single use plastic packaging we see nowadays. Environmentally conscious folks are increasingly coming around to appreciate bulk bins and I wouldn't be surprised if they became the hot "new" trend in coming years. If you stick with something for long enough, it comes back into fashion, right? The wonders don't end with all those glorious bins, however. Far from it. Improbably, all of the following (and more) also neatly fit into a store the size of a suburbanite's two-car garage: - Olives -- about 10-15 kinds by my last count, but I've seen even more varieties at times. I love my crisp, green Castelvetranos and black Kalamatas; the Progeny loves her pimento-stuffed Manzanillas. - Antipasti (mushrooms, artichokes, giardiniera, gigantes plaki) and preserved lemon peel - Feta (Bulgarian, Greek) and other cheeses - Tzatziki and other spreads - A variety of fresh and packaged pastries (baklava, kourabiedes, koulourakia) and halvas - Olive oils, pomegranate molasses, carob molasses - Pita breads and pasta - Rose water - Amardeen (an apricot leather used to make a Syrian drink of the same name) Prices are quite fair and the owners + staff are kind, generous, gentle and gracious. When my 10-year old privately expressed interest in the orange peel to me, one of the owners overheard and offered her some to try. They didn't look at all askance when she delightedly opened various bins to sniff the beautiful aromas within. (I did teach her to waft the smells to her nose by hand a la chemistry lab, instead of sticking her head into each bin.) As much as I detest the areas around Port Authority -- it's one of the dirtiest, smelliest parts of NYC -- I do go out of my way for International Grocery and will for as long as we're both around.

We were in the area doing our own mini pizza tour, and I had to ensure that our route took us by Murray's. I was hoping to get to try some of their in-house made charcuterie or mac & cheese bar, but our indulgence in nearby pizza places unfortunately left us too full to take on anymore. The shop itself is very well laid out with more options than you could ever imagine. The shop stretches back down a few steps and around the corner where they have much more than cheese. They have excellent options to put together at your whole charcuterie of any size here. They even have some premade options in their cold case if you're looking just for a quick snack for one or two people in a nearby park. I did pick up two options when I was in the store and I will say that both were exactly what I had come to expect for Murray's- delicious. This class just did not need the standards of other classes I've gone to. The reason I gave this 3-stars is because what you get for $100 is just not worth the price, plus the final product was inedible. The class consists of giving you flour and eggs to make the pasta, then roll it (which was super rushed), a "cheese tasting" (three tiny portions of cheese with some pesto) and unlimited wine (sparking white and red). You then bring the pasta home to cook it (with the instructions to use a fork if you haven't had enough time to roll your dough, which some didn't). I made the pasta when I got home and it was completely inedible as was the person's I went with. The instructor was nice and the room is beautiful, which is why I added a few stars. They're also great about making sure that your wine is filled up. Overall, I would not recommend for this price, especially when the end product was a throwaway.
