I have had bagels here before and they were good bagels. Today, something is different. It's not like bagel dough at all. It's like a bread roll. No chewy texture and dry. Very disappointing. Not sure my photo shows the bread-like texture or not. Also not much cream cheese. Not sure if I will be back after today.

Came back a few times during this year's beach week. Thrilled to see Taylor Ham (aka pork roll) on the menu as a breakfast meat option. Even their simple iced lattes are yummy. Get there early if you want to order some donuts, and to ensure your bagel preference is still available. When they run out, they run out! Always a line, but it moves. Staff are very friendly. Some people opt to eat there, and some get a Bloody Mary at the bar while they wait for their orders! Plan ahead: they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays!

Beautiful views, friendly service, good sandwiches. Donuts look good, would like to come back for breakfast and try and bagel sandwich.

Egg, turkey sausage, and cheese bagel...brought back to the beachhouse to enjoy.

Bottom line: 59 Causeway makes a good bagel breakfast sandwich, which was delicious and the most enjoyable food item from there I had. The plain bagel with cream cheese was adequate, and be prepared for long lines about any time in the a.m. for ordering food. Definitely visit The Bay Grill Bar that they have there for a positive bar experience, I'm glad we stopped by while waiting for food. The Deets: We tried out 59 Causeway a couple of times on our group's annual recent beach trip to OIB (wow, almost 20 years we have been going together). 59 Causeway is located before the Odell Williamson Bridge on the island, next to Sheffield's store. Since they are a business that is still on the island where going back over the bridge is not necessary, they tend to have long lines most mornings (at least the times we were there). One of our group loves bagels so we were there a couple of times to get his bagel fix taken care of while on vacation. The line itself moved pretty well, and service did a good job once we arrived at the register. For my experience, I ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese and also a breakfast sandwich bagel with egg, turkey sausage, and cheese. Their bagels are excellent for use in bagel sandwiches...I really enjoyed my breakfast sandwich from here. However, for this same reason, I did not think they were the best "bagel with cream cheese" bagel I've had...it was good, don't get me wrong, but not stellar. In waiting for our food one time though, we discovered they had The Bay Grill Bar as part of the 59 Causeway total business, and so we got Bloody Marys and mimosas while waiting. This little bar was definitely a cool little place to hang out, and I imagine they have quite a full house for later evenings as well. The bar side was definitely popular this a.m. and both the bartender as well as fellow patrons were in good spirits. My bagel with cream cheese was more like a 3 star experience but the delicious bagel breakfast sandwich as well as enjoying The Bay Grill Bar side of things pushes my impression up to 4 stars.

Nice casual breakfast place! My fiancé and I got an iced chai latte, an iced matcha latte, a cinnamon bun with buttercream frosting, chicken and pancakes, and a scrap heap (a bagel piled with bacon, sausage, etc.) The cinnamon roll was huge so you can definitely share with another person! The iced Chai latte was a bit too sweet but would be perfect for anyone who has a sweet tooth! I personally liked the taste of the matcha latte but my fiancé would prefer it to be sweeter. Maybe we should have gotten each other's drinks! The fried chicken and cakes comes with a piece of fried chicken patty and two pancakes that comes with whipped butter and the syrup is self served. While the plate didn't look very big, I was surprisingly pretty full even after just halfway done. The chicken was nice and moist on the inside and very crunchy on the outside! If you are interested in trying out I would suggest going earlier as the line does become quite long starting at 9AM!

I love this place. I come every time I'm down at our family's beach house. It may be one of the only breakfast places on the island but they do a fantastic job. Bagels are great! Cream cheese is good! My only complaint would be there's always a REALLLYYY long line. Especially over holiday weekends. This time I waited almost 40 minutes in line to place my order. Pros: bagels, nice staff, drinks, good location Cons: long wait to order

Delicious bagels, donuts, cinnamon rolls, and coffee! Walked here from our rental multiple times throughout the week. Lots of fun coffee flavors and appreciated that they had plenty of iced options in a couple sizes. Also plenty of bagel flavors - loved the French toast!

Stopped by here one October morning when staying in OIB to pick up breakfast for the fam. The girl at the front counter was very polite and kindly assisted me with my fairly large order. I ordered 4 bagels with meat, cheese, and egg, as well as 3 flavored lattes and a chai latte! Cost about $40 total, which is cheaper than if we had decided to stop by any chain restaurant. Each employee was dressed in a Halloween costume, super cute and festive!! Our food/drinks were ready in less than ten minutes. Quick service, awesome food, and friendly employees! Not to mention, everyone loved their coffee drinks! I will most definitely visit this place again next time I'm in town!

Found this gem of a place by using their boat dock reserved for restaurant patrons and by gosh, I'm so glad we found it. The hospitality, the drinks, the food- and the service - was all five stars!!!! Lovely place!!! Lovely people!!!

Prices, prices, prices...no prices on the overhead or info board as to how much anything costs. It's not til you wait in a long line and get to the register that you are allowed to see the prices. I liken this to holding me captive. I've taken photos of hand held menu at the register and posted them. Prices good as of April 2021. Staff indicates there is not enough room on the boards to post the prices. Lordy, Lordy that is a poor excuse. Food is good though I'm not sure the bagels are boiled then baked. staff is super friendly. There is a cool surfer vibe going with indoor and outdoor seating that is comfortable. They have done a good job welcoming folks. The view is very pretty of the ca I didn't care for the coffee. I purchased a 20 oz regular coffee. I found it bitter but perhaps that is just my personal taste.

Delicious fresh bagels - fluffy, crispy. Not NY style, but still quite good! Super friendly service - really nice people. Also, everyone working there wore a mask (thank you!) Plus a coffee and beer bar. Oat milk available for your coffee (yay!) Indoor seating in the bagel area, at the bar, or at tables under a cute manatee mural. Or, sit out back on the deck overlooking the water.

I bought a few rounds for some people a few beers for some people but my friend and I only drank Coors light bye-bye and I had a few bullet bourbons. Can you fucking believe that their bullet bourbons were $30 apiece? The bartender totally ripped us off because we were not locals. Let me ask you a question. When have you ever been to a fucking dive bar with a charge $30 for a double bullet bourbon? My wife and I travel all over the country and we've even been to California and just never been more than $18 for a double of bourbon. This fucking place ripped us off and she laughed about it as we left . My bill was $328 for two guys to drink. There's no food included in that. Keep in mind we were there twice earlier during the day and the bartender Amanda did not rip us off. This other bartender fucked us so bad. I can't even imagine all the places I've been to with my wife even in California our bill was never $328. So when I confronted her, she laughed and she had her boyfriend a mix Hispanic black guy behind the bar who said well that's our price. Like are you fucking kidding me. Do not go there. I'm actually calling my attorney because I'm bringing them up on charges for ripping me the fuck off I don't mind paying for my drinks, I expected a $220 bill. I did not expect a $338 fucking bill. So needless to say if she was a human being and treat us good I would've given her the $90 tip but she wanted to stick it to us and play scumbag games. She got a $20 tip on $338. And we are not like that. Do not go to this bar I repeat do not go there. I can't say enough do not come here go to pelicans 2 miles down the road and they treat you so much better

The avocado toast, the veggie breakfast burrito, the coffee cake, the smoothies, and the iced black amber are my go to's and they never miss. The service is quick, even though I know they get crazy busy during the summer. As someone who understands service/cafe biz, I will always give leniency to workers who are busting it during high volume seasons. The people who don't understand that a wait will be expected when you have one good coffee shop on an island that hosts thousands of people every summer are dense. Be kinder to your service workers, people. The most recent time I visited Drift, I was excited to try the Acai bowl. After I ordered, I was told that unfortunately they were out of Acai. They refunded my money and I ordered a smoothie instead. I was ready to pay for my smoothie when the employee told me the smoothie was on the house since they were out of Acai. Great customer service. I've been visiting Ocean Isle since there were rinky-dink water slides in operation across from what is now Drift. Mr. And I both ordered the market bowl. Quinoa, sweet potatoes, avocado, tomato, and a spring mix w a fried egg on top. It was beautiful! Then we bit into it. The sweet potato was barely on the brink of being frozen. The Quinoa was also cold...not just room temperature, but ice-cold! Avocado was way too cold as well. So, you can imagine what this did to the beautifully cooked egg... yep - turned it cold in a heartbeat. Really off-putting to bit into. Mr. went back inside and asked if they had a microwave to heat it up and the 'workers' just said that was they way it was supposed to be. Mr. tossed the entire thing in the trash and simply said "well, it's disgusting". You would think there would be a simple offer to heat it up, or some kind of remedy for the situation. They didn't give a crap. I'm pretty sure they flipped us the bird on the way out. Nice.
