While visiting Ocean Isle Beach I made a few stops at Lowe's grocery store. I have never been to Lowe's grocery store however each time I went it was clean, there was quick service and it seemed like the prices were reasonable. When I went to check out I did not have a Lowe's saving card and so each time the employees promptly type a code in so I could still receive the savings. The part that I really enjoyed about shopping at Lowe's is that they have a really fun and vibrant bakery area. read more

Plus, the coleslaw and pasta salad is very good here so they beat out the other local stores. Lowe's always had beautiful displays when you walk in with lots of tempting goodies. We are on vacation and we needed to stop to get my baby some milk and it was getting a little later and dark out. This location would be great except the parking lot is pretty much pitch black. It's not well lit and even though this is a safe area I didn't feel very safe in this parking lot at all. Also there aren't many employees willing to help when it's after 9pm. I understand they are ready to go home for the night but it would be nice to get assistance in a timely manner. read more

Bottom line: Lowes Foods in OIB is a good place to shop for groceries and other supplies for your vacation needs. Layout can be confusing and they do not have the cheapest grocery selection around but it is a nice place that is fairly convenient to the island to make your purchases. Do note they have a dedicated seafood market area but have had mixed results using it. The Deets: Lowes Foods has been here at Ocean Isle Beach for a bit over a decade now, as before the closest grocery store to the island was the rather old and dated IGA near the bridge (that is no longer with us). It's a fairly nice, good sized grocery store with many departments and a relatively clean store to shop in. The standout is that they have a dedicated seafood market as well as the expected deli, bakery, produce, etc. areas of a Lowes Foods grocery store. The employees in the seafood market have been pretty helpful and nice on our visits there but we have had mixed results with our purchases there such as live lobsters or crab legs. Their layout for finding items can be a bit confusing at times but it has most everything needed for groceries as well as some beach supplies as well. The prices tend to be a bit higher but that is most of the time Lowes Foods in general. Service during checkout has been good for most visits but the last visit however we did encounter a less than enthusiastic and not really positive personality at the register...really not we usually expect there. I would say more of 3.5 star vibe this last visit but rounding up to 4 stars for other past visits taken into consideration. read more

What a horrible, horrible store!! As soon as you walk in where the carts are you are invaded by loud, loud music, the music in that area had to be at least 120 decibels which is as loud as a rock concert in front row. Does Lowes realize they are a grocery store and not a night club or concert hall. I still have a headache from that loud music and I was there this morning and it's almost 930 at night now. Secondly, they are the most expensive grocery store in the area, unfortunately I had to shop at this dump of a grocery store for one item because Food Lion and Publix which are way better were out of stock of that grocery item. We came to get a cake, and they didnt have any on display, so we asked if there was some in the back. she never approached the counter, and yelled from the back rudely "YEA!! THEY ARE PLAIN! DO YOU WANT THEM PLAIN!?" and I asked if she could write something on it. She huffed and rolled her eyes, so we started to leave, as we started walking away, she yelled from the counter: "MAAM! MAAM! I CAN DO IT! I HAD SOMETHING IN MY EYE!" she was so rude, and acted as though we were bothering her throughout the entire encounter. read more

I love Lowe's Food Store ! I shop at two different locations one being Ocean Isle Beach, NC and the other Little River, SC. Both stores are very well stocked and clean. Associates and staff are very friendly and very helpful. I love the Little River location on Wednesday senior citizens get 5% off the grocery bill unfortunately Ocean Isle Beach does not honor the senior citizens on Wednesday! I also earn five s*** off every hundred I spend for gas which I purchase in Little River at their Lowes Food gas station very convenient! read more

Since the Lowes Foods in Shallotte closed, this Ocean Isle Beach location is the closest to our home in Holden Beach. It's a relatively easy drive, about thirty minutes door to door, and worth the trip if buying wine or beer or meats, as they have a much better selection than our local Holden Beach Food Lion. (For seafood, stick with your local fishmonger of choice. Ours is Captain Pete's Seafood Market, near the bridge on Holden Beach.) There's ample parking, and the grocery cart storage areas have cute flower boxes that put a smile on my face. The store is clean and has an impressive selection of wines at all price ranges. The deli staff are a pleasure to work with, as are the checkout clerks. They also stock a wide variety of gluten free foods and snacks. Lowes Foods is generally pricier than Food Lion, but deals can be found. Be sure to apply for their loyalty card, as it will ring up extra savings at the register. And you get credit for bringing your own bags, so it literally pays to go green! Fun fact - this Lowes Foods has a Beer Den, complete with a mini-bar area. While I can't drink most beers due to my gluten intolerance, it's a nice touch in a local grocery. Also, the guy working the bar the day we shopped was able to steer us to a place in Myrtle Beach where we could get our CO2 tank refilled. (We make our own seltzer and have a 5-lb tank. Airgas in MB will swap out tanks for less than $20.) It will be interesting to see if any changes come to Lowes Foods after the new Publix opens up across the way. Pleased to see plenty of beer, specifically from North Carolina, in a specialty cooler in the back. Didn't have time to grab anything on tap, but the woman who was there gave a strong recommendation of the one Wilmington area beer they had in a four pack of 16oz cans - a solid session IPA from Edward Teach Beer Co...and only $10! Cheers for a solid summer beer. Was surprised that they didn't carry any Red Hare products, nor anything else from the Wilmington craft scene, but still a solid, quick stop. 04/25/2020 Went to your location at 8:00 am Tom Hutchens the store mgr on duty blew me completely off when I told him and incident with your deli mgr (Alicia), I ask several employees if you carried red Rhine Cheese, 2 people ask me to speak with the deli mgr. I went to the counter and had to shout my question to her because she would not approach the counter. She was standing by the cooler at least 40 feet away. I repeated my question serveral times so she could hear me over the loud store music playing plus the fact she would not approach the counter (to busy I guess). She said she never heard of it, and they did not carry it. My wife stepped 15ft over and you have 5 different kind. I Held it up for her to see and she then roll her eyes and just turned away. I went to the register and ask an employee to speak with the mgr, her response " what for?" I again ask to speak with the store mgr, and got the same response. the mgr finally came and I spoke to him about the deli and Tom totally blew me off without hearing my complaint. My mother lives here in Ocean Isle and i'm here visiting, she asked me to pickup a few things from the store and told me directly not to go to Lowes Food. I like lowes food in my town until they closed and I shop in Calabash, and Fayetteville. Its not wonder she told me to go to Food Lion. Its just crazy the way I was treated. read more

Lowe's is one of two grocery stores I visit when we come to Ocean Isle. It has a fantastic fresh vegetable and fruit section with lots to offer. The Deli area has Boar's Head meat and cheese as well as many prepared salads and meals. My husband prefers Lowe's over the other grocery store because they have a bar right inside the front door so you can have a beer and shop!! I do find Lowe's to be pricey. read more

Beautiful store and love the new logo branding, sorry graphic designer in me can't help it. Selection is outstanding and yes it's pricey but if your smart you can do ok by finding the deals. Beer selection is great and lots of fresh produce to goose from. You can even get a 'Personal Watermelon' haha! It's a small one year size of a grapefruit but I thought it was funny. Nice store and concur that to OIB. Just don't go during Saturday evening in the summer, during the beach check in, waaaay crazy then. read more

I love their bakery and fresh fish market. Don't leave until you buy every triple berry muffin they have. They're the best I have ever eaten. The prices are higher than publix and food Lion but it is a great little market. I love the concept of the community bar in the front of the store. Their flowers always also look fresh and beautiful and I plan on buying some on my next trip. read more

Employee in produce had expired lettuce on the salad wall and yelled at me from across the produce department as looked through the bags to find one that is in date. Totally uncalled for, and if the employee had done her job she wouldn't have needed to verbally accost me for trying to buy produce that isn't rotten. read more

I'm only giving three stars to Lowes Foods because of their ad campaign, which I'll circle back to in a moment; however, the service we've had from this location has been excellent, so the staff members deserve a fourth star. Not only do we shop here in person but often use their Lowes Foods To Go service. We order our groceries online from their web site, then have them picked up by a concierge service here on the island and though we've had a few mess-ups in the past, most of the time the service is great. Amanda is the young lady who usually handled our orders though I think she's been promoted to some other department and when she was handling our orders we never had any problems at all. She would literally call at times while doing our shopping, just to explain and describe what was freshest, describe to me over the phone as to the appearance and marbling of the steaks I wanted, stuff like that, nice attention to details. Brandon is the other person who handles our orders from time to time and he's always done a really fine job. Not sure who is handling Foods To Go at the present and our last order was yesterday and it all showed up here intact with nothing left off the order. I would surely suggest this service to the vacationers here on our island since it saves time. You can also have your groceries delivered, or just have their personal shopper pick your order, have it ready, and you can pick it up later yourself. As to the ad campaign I mentioned, Lowes Foods, which is based in NC and SC, has billboards up now where they're about to put another store near Myrtle Beach and the billboards are somewhat risqué to me. One reads something like, "A grocery that finally got a pear" and it shows a pear, of course, and the other billboard reads, "Other groceries need a kick in the plums," and it shows two purple plums. To me that's a bit over the top and I'm wondering what genius came up with Lowes' testicle-focused ad campaign. I find that a bit off-putting. read more

I like this grocery store. I visited while passing through the area, and my experience was positive. This Lowes location was up to par with others I've shopped at over the years, with the same reasonable prices, good selection, and generally pleasing aesthetic. Likewise, the building was clean and logical, the staff were friendly and present, and the men's room was well-maintained. However, what I liked best was that the store stocked an organic variety of the produce I wanted (which, in my experience, is not widely available). Success! All in all: no complaints, and I would happily return to this Lowes. My thanks goes out to all the folks at this store, and those from the Lowes franchise in general. I was stunned to see when I visited the Lowe's Food in Ocean Isle Beach, NC that they did not have anyone wiping down the carts, they did not have one-way aisles, their aisles were narrow (compared to Publix), and worse yet, their aisles were cluttered with in-aisle displays that made social distancing impossible. I will never shop Lowe's Foods again until Covid-19 has been defeated. It was sad to see how little Lowe's Foods cares about their employees health and about the health of their customers. Publix, on the other hand, does everything right that Lowe's Foods does wrong. read more

This is a really nice store. It's clean and well stocked with a great assortment of items for all. The front end staff can be brusque but they are efficient and get you out the door quickly. The absolute high point of the store is the bakery. Buy the cakes!! They are decorated in cute colors and modern designs and they taste soooo good. Lowes is one of the most expensive grocery stores around. They also put candy in the vegetable isle which I found very strange. Why on earth would you put vegetables and candy together? Dont get me started on the food they have paired with the beer. But those small petty things aside Lowes is very accomodating to people with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant women and well anyone really. I find this to be true of all Lowes Foods so I believe it is apart of corporate policy. read more

The store has a good variety of fresh produce... but the new "look" of this remodeled store has left me very frustrated. First, the took away my favorite beer... while promoting themselves as the "beer store"... I drink Killians.. a dark beer... I have a home on OIB and Lowes Foods used to be my first stop... always at least $200 purchase every week... now I drive 2 miles to Food Lion where they have my beer. I rarely eat out when I am at the beach... prefer to grill and cook at home... But the new Lowes, while it has great steaks and seafood, their prices are out of sight. $17.99 for rib eyes... when I can go to Food Lion and have them cut to my choosing for $9.95. The Beer Tap at Lowes is constantly changing... you get something you like, an poof, it is gone... so I don't ever stop there anymore... just make my way down the road to Food Lion... Oh, and last year in July I purchased 4 chairs from them... at $39.95 each... the fabric in all 4 has split and the chairs are useless... this is in under a year.... what a rip off. read more
