I ordered steamed dumplings (by accident because I forgot to say fried) and peanut noodles. This only cost me $7!!!!!!!!! Are you joking?!! The steamed dumplings didn't make me feel heavy or icky. It also came with a dipper sauce. The peanut noodles were a tad bit dry but it was okay. It's cash only and just point on the menu because there is a slight language barrier! If you are up for authentic Chinese (Fujianese) food, this is the place. Yuan Bao used to be our go-to place when my husband and I lived close by. This restaurant is very well-known among Chinese immigrant community. They started off as a street vendor in the 90s, then they opened up this restaurant and another location on 55th street and 8th Ave. - Authentic yummy Chinese food. The owner is from Fujian, a coastal province in southeastern China, which is famous for their seafood and soy sauce braised meats. Bian Rou (Fujianese Wonton soup) and Ban Bian (Peanut Noodles) are the signatures here. The wonton soup is light and delicious. The peanut noodles has a large portion and fill you up quickly. The soy sauce braised duck with rice is a must. It's very flavorful and has a decent portion. Rice cake can be stirred fried with any ingredients. We usually have it with squid. If you love their soy sauce braised meat selection, you can get the pre-packed ones. Freshly made and ready to go. - Very affordable price. CASH ONLY. We did notice the portion for each dish is reduced a little but the price stays the same. The pre-packed soy sauce braised meat is $9 per box, which is $1 or $2 up from before. However considering the overall inflation on everything, this is not too bad at all. - Tips are not required, which is why most of their returning customers are Chinese immigrants who work close by. Customers dinning in usually put the dishes in the garbage can themselves before they pay the bill. So don't expect the service to be the best, after all, you don't pay any tips. The lady at the front usually don't have any facial expressions even if you speak Chinese so don't think too much if you are not getting the super friendly and welcoming vibe from her. *For non-Chinese speakers, make sure to ask them for a physical menu, which has English translation for all the dishes. This is one of the most authentic Chinese food, which is peanut butter noodle and there mini wonton soup! Usually these type of food can be eating anything of the day. Either it's going to be breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You won't be finding these type of local restaurant in other state beside Nyc area! It's really one of best authentic food people got to try. Many tourist don't know about these type of small local restaurant and they just walk away. The whole meal for two people can cost less then $10. Peanut butter noodle from what I remembered in the past was $1.25 but now it's $2. Nothing surprising because everything is going up why would the price too. But it's still very cheap and delicious. If you don't get a wonton soup every noodle dish will come with a broth. There are variety of different food on the menu. The first time I came here was back in January 2015 where my mom came to the travel agency to change the return date for my dad. The place is a hole-in-the-wall on the side of the supermarket. The only thing the place is known for are lou mei braized items. Due to COVID, only one customer can enter at a time. We brought two duck noodles, which the soup is fragrant and the duck is so soft that the bones are chewable. Would come again if I need to come to Brooklyn. read more

The geoduck noodle soup is my favorite. I always get it then go grocery shopping at fri long.

It's a relatively clean spot that focuses on noodles. First and foremost, i like that this place is quite clean. It's simple and small spot. There were a lot of noodles and meets to choose from. After looking through the menu, I got the beef tendon with rice noodles. I really liked the rice noodle. It reminds me of Pho. We also got boiled pork dumplings. I actually really like these. The meat mixture is already marinated so you really don't need the soy sauce dip that comes with the dumplings. We also got a platter of marinated meats that are pre-packed. I didn't care for them although my mom thought they were good. I don't typically venture out to this area unless we're coming to eat at a specific restaurant but this place is a solid find and definitely beats eating in the sketchy food court that's just inside the building where this place is located. read more

Best peanut butter noodles hands down. I got the peanut noodles and the Fuzhou wonton soup. 4 dollars. The food here is cheap and the portion is big. I've been coming here for a long time now. I've basically tried everything in the menu and I can tell you that you won't be disappointed. If ur a first timer here then I would suggest you get the peanut butter noodles and the wonton, or some dumplings. Most of the stir fried noodles are very good. The chow Mei fun and the rice noodles is really popular here too. Place is crowded most of the time but people don't spend more then 20 minutes here. If your not sure on what to get then just get the same thing other people are eating. Chances are it'll be good. But like I say they're known for the peanut butter noodles and wonton soup. The peanut butter noodles here are the better ones in 8th Ave. Its not too watery or thick. Its really hard to find good peanut butter noodles in 8th ave. Best noodle place at 8th ave!!! ( traditional fujianese noodles) the noodles with peanut sauce and the dumplings are so gooooooood! I spend 6 dollars and I was so full I couldn't even finish the dumplings! (The steam dumplings are 5 for 1.5$ and the fried dumplings are 5 for 2$) I got the fried dumplings. The sauce is so good with it! It was packed when I went there during the week days. I think around 2:30 and it was packed! I think cuz kids are off school around that time and parents bring em here!
