We shared a slice of Martine's Pastry double chocolate cake and wow, it was divine, so rich, fudgy, and absolutely worth the indulgence. The variety of coffee choices was seriously next level! We shared a cup of their decaf espresso and it was smooth, bold, and perfectly balanced. Definitely a spot we'll be revisiting. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and explained how their process worked. Very neat spot.

In addition to coffee, there was an incredible array of teas available as well both for drinking and purchase. The interior space was incredible, large and expansive while maintaining cozy and inviting vibes. Seating options were plentiful, great for studying, hanging out with friends, or even just quickly sitting down to enjoy a cup and snack. The shop area was also quite nice with so many coffee and tea options from all over available fresh as well as various trinkets and jsut fun goodies available for purchase, all at quite honestly some fair prices. Was great for perusing through while sipping on a fantastic cup. The staff were all incredibly friendly, but one area that needed some improvement was just how slow everything was. Not sure where the choke was but the line just refused to move despite not even being that long, and it kept doing this. This was not only at the coffee counter too, even at the store counter at first there was just nobody behind it for quite some time as a line formed and we all just looked around for a worker. And then finally one meandered on up, and while e they were kind and friendly, the service was just oh so slow which was quite frustrating. Besides the slow service though I will say it is a fantastic little spot. Unassuming on the outside but once you walk through the doors such an incredible space full of coffee, tea, and so much fun. The line was long and it didn't move as fast as you think it would. We actually sat for several minutes with no movement at all. When I pulled up a lady with an iPad, came to take my order and asked me what I wanted. I didn't know what I wanted because I couldn't see a menu. This was my first time. So she started trying to tell me what they had and I really wanted to look at the menu in the drive-through before I made a decision, but I didn't get that opportunity. She didn't even have anything to hand me to review what was on the menu. So I asked her to just make me some sort of latte and I landed on a banana bread. The taste was just OK. It didn't blow me away and I didn't try it and think dang this is delicious. It was literally mediocre. Before I ever visited Shibam Coffee, I have to admit I gave them a hard time on TikTok. Their…read morevideos kept showing how beautiful the space was, and I kept thinking, "You're a coffee shop--I want to see the coffee! The walls aren't going to make me want to visit." Well...I have to give them credit. The space really is gorgeous. The coffeehouse is spread across two levels with plenty of comfortable seating, making it a great place to relax, study, or catch up with friends. I visited around 10 p.m., and I really appreciate having a local coffee shop that's open that late. Since it was my first visit, I asked the employee for recommendations. He suggested a matcha drink or something made with Red Bull, and I don't think we were quite on the same wavelength. Personally, if I'm going to a coffeehouse, I'm there for coffee--not a Red Bull drink--so those recommendations didn't really fit what I was looking for. I ended up ordering a 16-ounce Shibam iced latte with almond milk and half the normal amount of sugar, and there's no denying it--it was excellent. The balance of flavors was spot on, and I wouldn't change a thing. Because it was later in the evening, I didn't try any pastries or desserts. The display case was pretty picked over by that point, which is understandable. Now let's talk about the price because that's what everyone in the Lexington Foodies group seems to be discussing. I get it. It is expensive. My 16-ounce latte was just under $10, and if I had added one of the pastries, I would have been looking at around a $25 coffee break. That's a tough price point to justify on a regular basis. For me, this isn't going to become part of my everyday routine, no matter how much I enjoyed the coffee. It'll be more of an occasional treat when I'm in the mood to splurge. Overall, I was genuinely impressed with the quality of the latte and the beautiful atmosphere. This coffee shop has the kind of atmosphere that feels like a hidden gem you'd stumble across while traveling in another city. Since it's not often I get the chance to try Yemeni coffee, I ordered the Shibam Latte, their signature latte made with honey and traditional Yemeni spices. It was the perfect balance of unique flavor, different from any latte I've had in Lexington, but not overpowering. I'll definitely be ordering it again. This is such a great spot for a girls' coffee date, but it's also perfect if you're just looking to grab a quick drink. The only hiccup was that my order was accidentally forgotten, so I waited quite a while before checking in. However, their service recovery was exceptional. They sincerely apologized, upgraded my latte to a large, and even offered me one of their signature pastries at no charge. Mistakes happen, but it's how a business responds that really stands out, and they handled it with genuine kindness. Overall, it ended up being a fantastic experience, and I'll definitely be back. It's been exactly one year since we last visited that old location, which has since closed. Though I have many years of memories tied to that one, I'm glad to see that business didn't close entirely. We were welcomed by a super-friendly and super-helpful barista who answered any of my "what is vegan?" questions. I ordered a Sipping Chocolate made with Davao, Philippines Dark Chocolate by Askinosie. Pinay-me was curious to taste chocolate by my people. Also, a bit of outdoor seating and a few spots to sit around Greyline Station. They brought over remnants from the previous location such as board games and a collection of coffee sleeves with written messages on them.

That was a pleasant surprise. The ambiance is very casual and welcoming. We both wanted some coffee and have never been to the chocolate holler so we came here. I had the white blossom drink and my husband had the sleeping bear. Both of our drinks were pretty good. Wish more espresso was given without extra charge but that seems like most places these days. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the drinks were tasty. Would definitely come back here when craving unique chocolatey treats.
