Love!! One of the highlights of my Lexington local coffee shop crawl. Most of which was unfortunately disappointing but luckily this gem crept in. Such a cute space number one, and the barista was very helpful when I mentioned I hadn't been there for quite awhile and was needing some recommendations. I had an iced vanilla latte and it was delicious, much more complex than your standard which I'm sure is due to their house made syrup. You can also get your drink on there with alcoholic choices which they mix with their coffee as well. They seem to have seasonal options so switching it up there is an easy fix. We stopped here with our 8-month-old for coffee and pastries and enjoyed sitting on the outdoor patio. After we finished eating, our son needed a diaper change. The shop doesn't have a changing station, so we changed him as discreetly as we could while seated outside. An employee came out and told us it was inappropriate, saying she now had to disinfect the table and that we should have used the restroom instead. I understand businesses have hygiene policies, and if they prefer diapers be changed in the restroom, that's completely fair. However, without a changing station, it's difficult for parents of infants, and the way the situation was handled felt embarrassing and unnecessarily shaming. A quiet, kind explanation would have gone a long way. The coffee and pastries were good, but I hope the business considers either adding a changing station or training staff on how to address situations like this with a little more empathy. read more

This is such a cool space and concept. I loved the gallery of queer icons and the information about other LGBTQIA+ spaces in Lexington. There's not a lot of room to linger but what there is is very cozy. I'm guessing based on the location, though, that most folks grab their drink to go and hang out around downtown because the line to order was long but we had no problem snagging a table. The variety of drinks was a lot of fun, and I also think it would be cool to come back in the evening for a cocktail option. The egg nog latte I had was pretty good. SHOUTOUT KC! Best bartender and barista in all of the bluegrass! They make the best lattes. I will never forget the time I was crossing the street when the building next door burst into flames. A lone cat was yowling from the top floor. But that didn't stop KC. They rushed out, shoved my latte into my hands (decaf oat milk latte with honey, lavender, and vanilla), cartwheeled into the building, then did an epic backflip off the balcony with the cat in tow! I actually made it this year for coffee week. While I didn't indulge in their featured coffee I did have a maple iced latte and it didn't disappoint. I've been here a few times now with friends and the coffee is always good. The people that work there are always friendly and accommodating. When we went on Sunday morning there was a slight line but it moved quickly. We did sit outside because the weather was so nice. At one point people were standing outside waiting on line but again they managed to move the line quickly. You can bring your own tumbler if you want all they ask in return is that you allow them to put their coffee sleeve on it. I've never sat inside so I can't tell you what it looks like but I have used the rest room which was clean and even had an assortment of condoms in a basket along with tampons if you need them. read more

I live in Chicago but make sure to make a stop at Lussi Brown every time I come to Lexington because I simply love it THAT much. This morning, I had the pleasure of going to Lussi Brown again and I ordered the Thai Iced Coffee and WOW was it great. It was extremely tasty and honestly everything I was looking for and more in my morning iced coffee. My friend ordered the Watermelon Tea and I honestly wish I would have gotten two drinks because I loved it too! I can't remember what my drink was called but it was some sort of grasshopper mocha seasonal drink and it was 10/10. Picked up drinks to go and they were great! We trief the matchanade (matcha lemonade!) and the Thai iced coffee. Both were very good, the Thai iced coffee was very reminiscent of a pumpkin spice latte which was a fun surprise (a little taste of autumn if you will). I meant to write a review for this coffee shop, but here it goes. This shop is located in a corner in downtown Lexington. If you don't know what you're looking for, you might have easily missed this shop as it is inconspicuous. Once you enter the shop, do not let it fool you. This coffee shop/bar serves a fantastic cocktail selection and strong-tasting coffees. There is more setting in the back of the shop, where you must be at least 21 to go in after 12 p.m. I sat in the back after ordering my coffee and then cocktail to do some school work and enjoy the lounge. It is quiet and cozy enough to do your job or relax with a friend or two to chat. I would say this place is one of the most unique places I've been to here in Lexington, and I highly recommend it to those coffeeholic who also love their cocktail drinks. read more

The service was excellent. I didn't try any food as I was getting ready to go to a concert and just really wanted the coffee. She told me they ship their coffee and I might be taking them up on it. Alright Lexington. You got a gem here in Lussi Brown. I love this place. A newer trend in coffee is mixing coffee or espresso with sodas or tonic water. I've seen places use a lime flavored seltzer. That's all good. But the Blood Orange Espresso drink AH-MAH-ZING. The sweet and tart blood orange mixes so well from the bitter of the espresso. My favorite coffee drink. I get one 2-3 times a week. My first visit finally! Lexington coffee week brought me to here for their undertow feature coffee drink. It is a little hard to find parking because it is downtown if you don't get one of the few out front but it's worth it when you arrive. I've always said I'd love to open a coffee BAR and they're doing it! It's a small places only seating for up to 10 but there's plenty in the area to walk to and sip. It's real close to 21c museum! I really like this new coffee shop! It's kind of hidden just a block from the courthouse and super close to where the farmer's market is held. Im not sure what used to be here but it's very trendy looking. There's a front room where you order and a window table. The back room isn't huge either but there are some two seater tables along the hallway that are absolutely cute! I wonder how busy they get here, but I came the weekend before thanksgiving and I didn't see anyone here studying. I saw an older guy here, a guy who looked to be in his late 20s or early 30s who was journaling or drawing, a family, and two young adults who may have just come to hang out and chit chat over coffee. A lot of them came and went, so it was pretty quiet here. There was one barista but she still did pretty great churning out the drinks in a good amount of time. I ordered the pumpkin spice chai which I thought was really good and tasty. Interestingly enough, their coffee is Deeper Roots, a Coffee from Cincinnati. Guess I'll have to go visit them up there! They also have pastries here which I'll have to try next time. My friends got a you can't catch me latte which she thoroughly enjoyed. It's got gingerbread syrup which was really good. My other friend got a dark chocolate mocha which she thought got cold a little too fast. The drinks weren't piping hot but came you blame the girl? She was by herself. Anyway, I'm favoriting this coffee shop on Yelp. They are just so good and I love that it's not hyped over quite yet by the students at UK. I needed an evening coffee run after we stopped midway through our trip home for the night. Lussi Brown was open until 8 and thought, okay -- good reviews, good drink choices that weren't the standard, "Vanilla, Hazelnut, Mocha, Caramel", I'm game. This was a delightful drink, y'all. The space was empty when I came in, from what I could see. Maybe there were people around the wall? Regardless, it was quiet and plenty of menu copies I could look at without standing at the counter like a weirdo. The menu online was very similar, but you couldn't tell what could be made vegan - a review said the staff was knowledgeable and great to ask so I figured I'd just find out when I went to the business. The two employees were very sweet and helpful! The menus inside did say which could be made vegan, but the employees could tell me what the differences were: in this case not only the milk but tweaking the syrups to stay as close to the original drink as well. I didn't have to wait long for the two drinks I was ordering, and honestly mine looked so good I didn't want to mix it! I hope next time I'm in that area I can try another seasonal drink of theirs, because honestly: it was just a darn good drink. read more

I love this little place. I have been a few different times to hide away and get some things accomplished. I felt like everything disappeared and I just sunk into the atmosphere. It's was so quiet (Florence + the Machine in the background), the lighting was bright enough to see what you were writing but dim enough to feel calm. The staff is always friendly. The coffee is delicious. If you get it there they put it in - wait for it.... A REAL COFFEE CUP *gasps*, which I adore. It's the small things, amiright?! I always get a vanilla latte(everywhere I go); it was the perfect balance of sweet and espresso, which let's be real that's why you go to any real coffee shop.
