I bought 3 plants my first day and had to go back the next day to buy 4 more. It's reasonably priced and each receipt comes w care instructions for your plants. After eating a hearty lunch at Koku Ramen, we decided we needed to walk it off by visiting this garden center to look at planters - as we have some house plants that are rapidly growing out of their current vessels. Upon entering the interior shop, I was pleasantly surprised to find a nice selection of decorative pots plus the best selection of Jellycat plushies that I've ever seen! I'm a huge fan of Jellycat and can't believe that I found the best selection I've ever seen at a garden center of all places. I was so distracted by the variety that I didn't even get a picture of them. Anyway, I digress. Our purpose for visiting was strictly to look for planters and we were not disappointed. The staff were super friendly and very helpful, and directed us around the lot to the various sections explaining what was available. They have a large selection but they are quite expensive depending on the size. After looking at everything available both pots and plants, we decided not to purchase anything on this trip. But we'll happily return in the spring to check out what's new. read more

We purchased a youngish (8' or so) flowering dogwood from Dennis's 7 Dees, and being clueless as to the proper place or technique for planting it, we hired them to deliver and plant it. Patrick took great care to find a good spot in our challenging creekside property (good sun, not too wet) and performed his work cheerfully and well. I recently submitted a review on Google and contacted their offices. I adjusted my review to three stars after their offices called me back, but unfortunately, nothing has changed. My community has hired this company for landscaping services. Their services include using gas equipment for everything! gas hedge trimmers, gas, blowers and gas mowers. MANY! The noise is so much and the pollution is horrific. What's worse? They plaster vehicles and everything in their wake while blowing the dirt around. We live in woods and I have no idea why they constantly use these blowers. The dirt settles back on our buildings and the land! Many of us have purchased expensive HVAC units and they are outside mounted. Each of these units cost $5000. This company uses blowers all around them and it's clogging up our filters and degrading the life of our equipment. I do not under any circumstances recommend this company because no green organization would utilize these practices and this outdated equipment. It is hazardous for the workers and the community and oh let's not forget the wildlife. read more

Austin at Dennis 7 Dees is awesome! He's the landscaper designer. We have a very small yard and wanted to update our back and side yards. Austin came to our home, and we discussed what we wanted and Austin helped direct us in getting the maximum for our money. He also pointed out some things we didn't think about (i.e.: getting our fence done before he did the yards) and suggesting we do a watering system. When all said and done, we liked his proposal best, and he stayed very close to our budget. The only reason it went slightly above is we added the watering system, so it was our choice to increase the budget. They came a day after our new fence was done, and they had my yards done in about 1.5 days. We did a rock design in our backyard and had plants planted in our side yard. I cannot speak to their outdoor plants because I don't ever shop for those... but for INDOOR PLANTS this place is a gem! They usually have a lot of your most common houseplants (monsteras, snake plants, pothos, zz plants), but their inventory is constantly changing and they may even have that rare plant that you've been dying to add to your collection. Their prices may seem a little high compared to big box stores that sell plants (Home Depot, Lowe's, Fred Meyer's, etc.), but I always find that the quality of plants from Dennis' 7 Dees are the best. The staff are constantly caring for their plants to keep them looking good and healthy. I also love shopping here for plant accessories or plant care items like pots/planters, macrame hangers, soil, or neem oil. They also have a lot of cute items like pins, stickers, and Christmas decorations! FYI: This review is only as a walk-in customer looking for outdoor plants. I've never felt a need to checkout this 7 Dees location. It's right next to the freeway, and all concrete outdoor space. I am an avid gardener, and plants are to me like jewelry is for others. I love my plants! I tend to stick to a few nurseries out in the countryside of Washington county, and will occasionally buy from 2 of the larger and higher end Nurseries in Portland. After my neighbors across the way used 7 Dees to buy a few plants on a major garden project recently, on their recommendation, I decided to check it out. I had only a few plants in mind, but usually I come home with just a few more ;). I was disappointed and after a peruse around the business this is what I noticed: not much in the way of variety, and mostly larger plants, like you could get plants in gallons tubs, but not pint sized plants. Large plants are expensive, and the prices I paid particular attention to were comparable with the higher-end specialty nurseries around town. The plants at this 7 Dees health were fine, but not super healthy. I came, saw, and left. read more

We were greeted by a employee and directed to the area based on how much sunlight it would get which was really helpful. The customer service at Dennis' 7 Dees is really great! I had gotten a gift certificate for my birthday and lost it, but I emailed them and one of their managers, Kelley, was sooo fast about making sure I got it replaced and available for pickup at the location closest to me. I'd never been before, but I was really impressed with the selection at the Cedar Hills location and the quality of the plants! The stuff here is more expensive than what you'd find at a big box store, but it's much higher quality, and it's worth it in the long run. Last year, I'd bought a bunch of plants and soil from Home Depot and about 75% of the stuff I'd gotten was either sick, was infested with bugs, or just straight up died from soil-borne fungus. I bought soil, plus a rose and a hellebore at D7D with my gift certificate and both are still in excellent health and are flourishing. Plus, everything I've planted in the soil I got at D7D seems to be doing really well and there's no sign of fungus or infestation. Also, everyone at the Cedar Hills location is really friendly and helpful! My husband and I were just browsing and we saw some flowers we liked in the back area, and an employee noticed us looking and told us what flowers they were and answered our questions... all without us having to seek someone out. Great place to go if you're looking for high-quality stuff or if you're a newbie gardener like me who doesn't really know what they're doing and needs a little guidance from professionals. I can't express enough how happy I am with the folks at this joint. I've gone to this location a handful of times and it is always exceptional. I went to the other location in SW and this location is far better. It is busy and will take some time to be able to shop, but that's because they are taking the time to sanitize and clean everything to ensure my safety. If it's an extra 10 minutes before I can start shopping, I am OK with it. There was a girl there who ran my credit card and even wiped it down with a sanitizing wipe! Talk about customer service. Terrible, vague and misquoted return policy at time of purchase. When I purchased my outdoor plants and told the cashier that I planned to return some, the cashier said directly that I could return unwanted plants, no problem. Then, when I took a fraction of my almost $1,000 purchase back to return, I was told I couldn't get a refund, because it was after 30 days (it was ~40 days). The 30 day return policy isn't stated on the receipt, either. Moreover, I had two plants die in the pot within days of getting them home, but they wouldn't honor their 'warranty' unless they were planted first and died in the ground? The return cashier couldn't care less, dismissed the fact that the original cashier told me incorrect information, and wouldn't process a refund. Now I have a store credit that I will grudgingly use, and not patronize this chain again. This chain seems to have much worse customer care than other large local plant nurseries in the Portland area which accept returns no questions asked, with a smile, and are grateful for return customers year after year. I love gardening and spend thousands on my garden annually - this year I thought that I would switch to Seven Dees as my regular nursery after having a very nice purchase and delivery experience, but after this terrible return experience, I will not be patronizing this business again, or recommending it to friends in the area. read more

Awesome nursery, tons of great plants. A little on the pricey side for certain plants, but I was surprised to find a wide assortment of indoor and outdoor plants here. I purchased a huge marantha plant here for $25, and another 6 in Philodendron McColleys Finale for $22 , a pretty ok price for 6 in pot, not the best in the world but alright. Reindeer Magic review - This was my family's first time attending and we will not return. My husband called it "a bust" as soon as we arrived. All the people working the event were really friendly and we had an easy time getting a parking spot. Had to buy tickets to attend, $6.27 per person ($5 + admin fees), so not expensive compared to other holiday events. The reason they started charging was to control crowds which is great but it was still over an hour wait to see Santa, 40 min + wait to get your child's face painted and 20 min to get a balloon. That's the reason why I'm giving this event 2 stars - the line waits were ridiculous. We didn't bother attempting to wait for Santa. I tried waiting in line for the face painting while my husband took the kids to get snacks but it never moved. I finally gave up after 10 minutes, jumping over to the balloon line and then taking my kids to ride the xmas train (3 min wait). Rode the train twice, came back to see the same people waiting in line for face painting. They did have a kettle corn tent, Mexican food truck, a doughnut and drink stand which was very nice. Also, while waiting for face painting & the balloon man (in the same tent) there was a band playing that was fun to listen too. There were some nice parts about this event but overall, it's just not worth it to me to pay to attend an event to just wait in long lines, especially with young kids. read more

I was treated like a subhuman, and I can only think it was racism. I approached someone working there and was friendly and asked for some help. I was asking if they had any grape tomato plants. I had never been there and just wanted to know where to look. The woman working there was immediately rude to me. She flippantly told me "I should just look around." I was shocked. I said, "It was just a question. Why are you being so mean to me?" And she said continued to berate me telling me how full the table was earlier. This is in regards to the Cedar Hills location of Seven Dees specifically. If you can deal with fellow customers who are rude or inconsiderate, or if you believe in voting with your dollar where the customers are rude or inconsiderate....then go. They have nice plants, the staff is nice, they have lots of pots, a good selection of hand tools but.....we will not be going back. All three times we went there were obnoxious customers who were either annoyed that my cute husband comes with me to get our plants (their husbands provides them with charge account), or were annoyed that they had to carry a single, small box of flowers to their own car because we were being checked out. *The horror.* A nice day out to get fabulous plants and *enjoy* the experience is too awesome to spend it with other customers who are 'not present' by blocking the already small aisles over and over again, or give you dirty looks driving off in their Lexus because you prevented them from having their ___ kissed. Life is too short for them to be that unhappy. read more

Lisa really knew what she was talking about, and gave us some great advice and the benefit of her experience as a grower. We had pretty specific requirements for shrubs (can handle full sun, will grow to a certain height, won't require a ton of maintenance) and she helped us pinpoint what would work for us. She also gave us a good discount since we were buying a larger number of plants. I didn't really experience any 'tude from the customers, but then, they weren't super-busy when we were there. The selection of plans is slightly better than what one would find at Home Depot. The staff is friendly and helpful. The downside is that it is next to Highway 26 so the constant traffic noise doesn't make for a pleasant shopping experience. The isles are tightly spaced so it is difficult to get around other customers, who are *always* in ones way. Three separate trips met with three separate fellow customers with an attitude. Overall, it isn't a place I would go out of my way to get to. A person is better served going to another nursery. read more

I had a pretty good experience here. My goal was to find two, low-light, low-maintenance house plants to replace the fake ones my mother had purchased for me in college. Both the employees were very helpful and friendly. They seemed to know a lot about the plants and had good knowledge concerning general plant care. They had a good selection of plants and accessories. The location also included a rainbow of colored pots, bird feeders, supplies, and decorative garden items. I've lived close by for over a year but have never visited, partly because it seemed a little drab from the outside. They have some nice planters by the side of the road but there isn't much color or life in them. It would be a nice touch to have those be spruced up a bit. I ended up purchasing two plants and a shiny silver pot. I had two Chinook Book coupons I was hoping to use. One went fine...20% off the pot. The other was for $5 off $20 worth of houseplants. However, all plants were already 20% off so I couldn't use this one, even though it would have been the better deal even if the plants weren't on sale. They explained that they couldn't use the coupon even if they used the full-price of the plants because management and the computer system both would not allow it. Oh well. I might come back at some point. They have a rewards program, which I signed up for. It seemed to include the multitude of typical rewards: One point/dollar spent, free birthday surprise, etc. Oh, and they have a friendly store cat. Nice. Another customer came in at the end before my transaction was finished and immediately started asking for an identification of a tree-cutting she had brought in. The employee tried to multitask and help her while finishing my transaction, but it was a little off-putting, especially when I had to carry a fairly large box of plants out the door and no one offered to help me open it even though they were very close by discussing the tree-cutting. Besides the door mishap I enjoyed my time here and am enjoying my new plants as well. read more
