POP characters at 7-11! I know where I'm doing my Christmas shopping!!

***********SAFER THAN FORT KNOX*********** Have you ever had a late night junk food craving but was too scare to go to the liquor store or convenience store for fear of being assaulted, stab, shot or killed??? (I watch too much news) Well, fear no more!! This 7-11 no matter what time of day, day of the week, time of month has by far the best security ever. And by best security I mean cops are here all the time, which in the world of convenience store is not a bad thing at all. At any given time you can see LAPD, CHP, Sheriff's and other local law enforcement personnel here, so protected you are! Though you do see the occasional "Rover, wanderer, nomad, vagabond" (yup that was a Metallica reference) bum or transient they don't tend to be very pushy for they too know the police are near by. The store has a good selection of practically everything so take your pick. It's all clean and well organized. The staff is very friendly and you know who the regulars are as they are greeted by first name. The store has also produce a few lucky lotto winners, nothing in the ridiculously high zillion dollar amounts but hey there is always a first time for everything, hopefully it will be me! The coffee is always hot and a good selection of flavors and flavored creamers are available....how needs the $5.00 Starbucks coffee when this place has just as many selections for a fraction of the price. On the down side, if you come during rush hours which is everything between 8am-midnight you may have trouble finding parking. The lot is small and there are other business that effect the traffic at least during the day. At night it's practically all 7-11 customers. Just a word of advised if you are not handicap don't park in the handicap spot, remember police are everywhere and you will get a ticket in which case your $1.00 coffee trip will turn into a $300+ adventure....(grimacing)

So I looked for a coffee spot closer to the restaurant at which I could do some work. Alibi Coffee is only 10-15 minutes from the restaurant, which made it a good candidate--and off I went. It sits on the corner of Washington and Raymond Avenue. While there's one-hour parking on Washington, Raymond seems to offer unlimited parking (other than street cleaning days)--the friendly, helpful barista directed me over there. Inside, it's a tranquil, clean and comfortable environment that mixes contemporary touches with brick industrial vibes. I'm in my cream top era, so I decided to get their Trademark Cream Top Latte, which uses cold brew and house made cream with a hint of brown sugar. The drink was smooth and not too sweet and, all in all, extremely enjoyable. Next time, I might try the Salted Caramel Cream Top Latte. I was warned it was a bit sweeter, but I'd like to see for myself. Wi-Fi seems solid, and there are plenty of outlets (yay!), so this was a great work spot. I'd definitely return anytime I needed to be in this area.

[Parking]: The coffee shop has a free designated parking lot which I actually appreciate since parking is not easy to come by in this part of the neighborhood. [Amenities & atmosphere]: The restroom is located just outside the entrance and no code is needed. The cafe has a modern and sleek interior which makes this spot an ideal 1st date spot. There is a section where the cafe has various albums hanging on the wall. [Menu]: Some of the highlighted items to order here are Mason Latte, Hojicha Latte, and Brisket Burrito. Kitchen items are served from 8:30 AM to 4 PM. *** Steak Breakfast Burrito (24-hour marinated steak, crispy tots, cheddar, pico de gallo, scrambled eggs, avocado, homemade aioli, served with housemade green aji or red salsa - $21.00): I was given a buzzer only to realize it was for the food order and not the drink. The green sauce was very vinegary with a slightly spicy kick. The burrito itself was not bad as it had all the right ingredients. It took about 10 minutes for the kitchen to prepare this order. Mason Latte (Double shot Espresso, whole milk, homemade brown butter caramel, sea salt - iced $7.75): This drink had to be mixed and shaken first. A solid latte and not too sweet. The flavor was a tad light, but not bad. *** While no food or drink in particular made this place stand out among all other amazing coffee shops in Los Angeles, this is still a solid all-around coffee shop in my book. A big thumbs up on good interior vibe and easy parking.

And I had an EXCELLENT chicken Chipotle wrap at lunch that was recommended to me by the gentleman working at memory look. I'm not certain where these wraps are made. Another gentleman would bring them from the building in the same complex. I LOVED my wrap. They have a ton of seating outside too but there aren't any outlets out there so it's harder to WFH out there unless you're fully charged. But was great for separate meetings we all had to attend. BUT what I've been absolutely obsessed with lately is their Jasmine Matcha. I constantly find myself coming back specifically for this drink. The balance between the jasmine and matcha is PERFECT. You get that floral, fragrant jasmine flavor while still being able to distinctly taste the matcha, and neither one overpowers the other. Parking is also surprisingly easy for LA! I've usually been able to find street parking nearby, so I personally wouldn't bother spending the extra money on valet. I will say this probably isn't the best place if you're looking for somewhere quiet to study. There are constantly people coming in and out and it can get pretty noisy and busy inside. I'd come here more to grab a drink and catch up with someone than to lock in for a study session. The Double Matcha may be the classic, but the Jasmine Matcha is what keeps me coming back. If you're a jasmine matcha person, GET THIS ONE!!

There's a small lot with valet, but spaces are limited. We drove around for a bit and eventually found street parking about a block away. We went on Labor Day, so it was understandably busy. Despite the heat, there was still a pretty long line. They do provide umbrellas for those waiting, but there definitely weren't enough for the number of people in line. You have to wait until someone goes inside and returns one. That said, the line moved surprisingly quickly, and our drinks came out within just a few minutes of ordering. Service was also friendly! I got the Double Matcha and it was super creamy and had an okay matcha flavor, but unfortunately left a mild weird, grainy aftertaste. I was pretty disappointed, especially after waiting in line. Honestly, I'm not sure I'd wait in line for this one again. My partner got the Double Hochija. The flavor was definitely there, but it also had that same strange grainy aftertaste, except it was way worse than the Double Matcha. It was supperrr sweet and became a bit overwhelming after a few sips. If you have a serious sweet tooth, you might love it, but I'd recommend adjusting the sweetness. Wish I read some of the reviews prior to ordering... Overall, I don't think Stagger has the best matcha or hochija but definitely is a cute spot for small groups of 2-4 to grab a drink and hang out. The quick service and friendly staff were definitely a plus! For me, the drinks weren't quite worth the wait, but I'd still come back to try something else.

Any of their cream tops are honestly perfection and probably what makes the drink for me. The matcha itself is rich, creamy, and really smooth. I wouldn't necessarily say it's super strong, but it's definitely not weak either. It doesn't have as much of that bitter/earthy matcha taste. The drinks do lean on the sweeter side, which is kind of a dilemma for me because the cream is SO good, but it also takes away from the matcha a little. I love the cream and wouldn't want less of it, but I do wish the matcha came through a bit more. Additionally, the cup is pretty small And getting matcha here is honestly a whole DEDICATED JOURNEY. Parking, waiting in line, waiting for your drink... you have to really want that matcha. But I would 100% come back.
