The gas was kind of high, but we didn't feel like riding to another gas station. So, we dealt with the cost. The staff wasn't overly friendly. They did wear masks. In Hampton roads, this is rare to me, because any other fast food place would be the opposite and almost always mess up my custom order or even just a regular order from their menu. I'm very appreciative of the workers here. They're always busy but still push orders out in a timely manner. The cashiers are very aware of their surroundings and are good at keeping up with their store duties and hopping onto the cash register to help one another out when the line is getting long. Other locations just offer it for lunch and dinner. So we're stuck with this location if you're not close to a Wawa at lunch.

Everything was clean and spotless with decor all over. A welcoming spot for all that comes in. We ordered right at the counter upon walking in. My choice of beverage was a medium sized Forget Me Not (sure it was named after the song from Patrice Rushen) served iced. It's a cinnamon latte with whole milk (my choice) and sea salted caramel toffee. Also, I ordered a sausage and egg croissant and a cheese danish pastry to eat. Everything was really good. All the ingredients for the beverage came together. A little strong, but not too sweet. And the croissant sandwich and pastry really helped myself become full for the morning. A really big thanks to the staff for keeping us satisfied during our visit. We'll definitely come back real soon :)

The dining area was roomy and bright with plenty of windows to allow sunshine to flow. Many of the table had solos on lap tops. My coffee order was called out quickly and was gorgeous! Around 10 minutes later my toast was pushed out. The coffee was as good as it looked. The toast was just ok. The avocado was spread extremely thin. I hope to return on another Newport News trip.

Service was immediate and friendly at the counter to order. My son and I both wanted their legendary pulled pork. The drink station had dining room were tidy. Food pushed out in minutes. I immediately noticed they took care of my son on fries with what appears to be a double order. My selection was a combo plate of moist beef brisket and sausage with fries and a drink and some of their sauces. Everything was cooked well and I got full halfway. My husband came in to buy beer and they denied his international ID. If it was illegal to sell beer to someone because they don't have a US ID then no tourists, international officials, delegates or businessmen would be able to buy alcohol in the United States? How much sense does that make? I will be coming back and speaking to the manager and calling corporate to see what can be done about this. It shows poor management and obviously the staff needs to be retrained. Its unacceptable behavior from such a large company and racist. Not surprising at all since this neighborhood is disgusting and ghetto but at least train your employees to take real ID cards. Absolutely shameful. read more

I frequent this store a few times a week, and have always had excellent and friendly service from all employees except for tonight. I walk in, only customer, and proceed to the register. The female working had her cell phone in hand above the register, so I was in her direct line of sight. She never acknowledged my presence, no greeting, so I then said I'll have four packs of Marlboro Silver 100's, please. I had ID in hand as your staff always cards me, but she never asked for ID. She then put down the phone, moved slowly to reach for the packs - had she moved any slower she'd have been going backwards - rang up the packs, then walked over to the front window. Guess she assumed that I was paying by card and not cash. She never told me the amount of the purchase, so I asked if we were good, and what's my total. Her reply: you saw me ring 'em up, I put the smokes in the bag, the price is right there. Two other customers had entered the store by now, so instead of taking issue, I stated that I'd talk to the manager tomorrow. Her response: I don't care who you talked to, and then kept on with attitude about what she had done for the purchase. I departed. Tomorrow I will speak to the manager, and have this comment in hand for her review and whatever corrective action that she deems appropriate. Your employee has attitude, and I see it as all about my race. Won't happen again as I will not be as nice as this evening. Upon checking out, I realized majority of the workers were up front. It was a bit of a walk back to the freezer section so I just checked out. Overall not a bad experience.
