I stopped by here a couple of Saturdays ago with my wife for lunch. 7Hills is located in the historic Millework district and occupies an absolutely massive building that may more accurately be called a beer hall. They have a number of large tables which are communal seating and then a massive U shaped bar as well. There is also a blocked off area inside the restaurant where you can see their fermenters and other brewing equipment. I should also note that this place could be considered super trendy. It has exposed ductwork, brick walls, exposed rafters and a concrete floor. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I went with a flight. The flight here consists of 4 pours and I went with the IT gose, 3 men and a Beerby (IPA), Hop Spatter (double IPA) and staches to ashes (stout). All of the beers here were pretty good but I think I liked the gose the best as I really do love that dry and sour taste that they bring to the table. My wife and I also ordered lunch here and we decided to split our meals. So we ordered the turducken burger with pretzel bun as well as the What Are You Smoking pizza with beer cheese. The menu describes the turducken burger as a turkey burger, duck confit, fried egg and havarti cheese while the pizza was described as as a pretzel crust with smoked red pepper sauce, smoked turkey and smoked pork sausage. My turducken burger ended up being quite tasty even if I do think a proper turducken has some chicken in it as well. It was juicy and I loved breaking the creamy yolk from the egg over it. My fries were also very good as they were seasoned nicely and were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My wife and I both also really enjoyed the pizza. The meat was juicy and the pizza had a good smoky flavor throughout. What really set it apart from most pizzas though was the pretzel crust which was a great idea. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. My wife and I enjoyed both of the food items that we ordered here and I thought that the beer was good as well. read more

Stopped here while in town because we love a good burger and they did not disappoint. My husband got a burger as well but basically devoured it in under 2 minutes. The amount of french fries you get is insane. We also had our two kids and they loved the food as well. Plus they had rootbeer in a bottle so my 8 year old loved that. She felt "cool"... the pretzel bites were delicious as well. Prompt friendly service. 4 meals, an app, 1 beer and a flight was $75.00 just an fyi. Still I would totally eat there again. The waitress knew the beers and what to compare them too. Very knowledgeable on the menu. Looks like they have live music or a dj but they did not have any entertainment that night. Loved their beer. They have great variety, and even being from the US craft beer capital (San Diego) I was impressed by that. I was working and it was 3pm, so I got their Bad Hombre, a Mexican style lager with lime - which has been one of my jams lately. They did it well - lots of nice lime flavor. Pulling off a good lager is not easy for brewers, but they impressed me. I'll just put this here to sandwich the good stuff around it, but I docked em a star because a lot of workers weren't wearing masks, middle of COVID. At least the servers walking up to tables were, but kitchen staff? Not that I saw. Bartenders? Nope. An area of improvement. Those masks really do prevent the spread. But my server was very friendly and very attentive, treated me well. The tasters I got to sample before getting a whole pint were generous too. Oh also I got a barrel aged Oktoberfest beer with cocoa nibs and vanilla. It tasted boozy, though only 5.8%, was pretty sweet (as all barrel-aged beers tend to be). We were told by many to check out this brewery. It was "ok." We enjoyed a few of the other breweries more than this one. Walking in the atmosphere is very open with long-table seating. Our waitress seemed unsure of herself and was very quiet. We tried the pretzel bites (very unique - fried like funnel cake) and wings. We loved the beer cheese that came with the pretzels, but the mustard tasted full of sugar? The wings were a little dry and only came with 5... we ended up ordering another order as it was such a small amount. Our brews were pretty good, however did not stand out as much as a few of the other breweries in town. Overall, Cool concept, but I feel they have some improvements to make before we would be back. read more

What a nice surprise. I was out exploring Iowa and Wisconsin and after the Field of Dreams and Crystal Cave tour I was hungry for refreshment and food. The area is nicely rejuvenated but still the street looks deserted. The area could use some more curb appeal to show that there are businesses that are open and alive in the area. Luckily I found 7 Hills. Once inside the place was packed with people since no one was on the street. The turduken was delicious and juicy with the yoke of the fried egg dripping out with every bite. Glad I found the place and next time I am ever around here I will be sure to stop in for a beer and fried egg. read more

Great local brewery! Large open space with a stage for bands. Long communal tablea, a bar area, and some smaller tables. Cool older building. Very friendly service with a nice hostess and server. Quickly had someone come over to take our order and we had a flight of beer and a homemade Kombucha. The kombucha was banana, syrawberry, and rubarb. It wa tangy and good. Oir favorite brew was the Seven headed monster. It was hoppy but mellow. We liked it so much we bought a few 32 ounce cans to go. We defintely suggest checking this place out for a few beers. We hear the food is good but didn't get any as we had just had lunch somewhere else. read more

For the City of Dubuque this is a worthwhile stop. This is a nice big open room in a pretty cool part of Dubuque. Old building with lots of character seems to be the in thing for a brew pub and this is no exception. They have a nice selection of brews and serve whiskey and cocktails which is a nice addition. Have been here a couple of times but decided to eat here on my last visit. They have a very creative menu and I must say the food is very good. I was tempered to try the pretzel crust pizza but went with a sandwich and didn't eat the bread, watching carbs and my girlish figure. Will definitely come here for dinner again, very much worth it. You can tell the building has been repurposed and it looks great. The staff was really nice and checked in frequently. The food was also a huge plus. We are here over the long weekend and checking breweries. 7 Hills Brewery popped up and it looked new. We are here - great space, custom designed furniture and great beer. I was told the gluten free beer is coming up. They have a great selection of other drinks for a gluten free person. 2 ciders in bottles - I tried the dried one but spiced pumpkin flavor was very tempted. There is a selection of wines: red, white and blush from Cedar Ridge (note to myself: try CR Oak Reserve). Regarding beer, my hubby was impressed by 7 Headed Monster, liked Smash ale, Stashes to Ashes, not impressed by Hop Spatter. Overall great vibe, great space, great drinks! I loved this place! Their food is amazing. We split chicken wings and their smoked brisket and were not disappointed! We picked a BBQ sauce to go with our wings that added a little zest and spice. Our brisket was amazingly seasoned. We picked broccoli and garlic mashed potatoes as sides. Both of those lived up to expectations and exceeded them. I was highly impressed. Their home-brewed beer was also great. They had a nice variety and you could see whiskey barrels aging as you walked in. The staff was helpful and friendly. Didn't complain when someone spilled their beer all over a waitress. Our waitress was telling us about open mic night and how one guy comes every week and does an awesome job, so we stuck around to listen. First, it's located in a neat old district in town near the river, inside a giant brick building, with outdoor seating by barrels with modern lighting overhanging; super cool start! Inside, the place is HUGE and has lots of seating. There's a little shop area, the bar, and many different table sizes/heights/privacy ability. The service was PHENOMENAL, from the person who sat us, to our waitress, the guy who brought out our food, and the person who cleared our table; everyone was so friendly and quick! The beer was SO GOOD and they offered many different kinds; very creative names and picture labels. Last, the food menu was incredible! We split a couple appetizers and small pizza. The first beer they brought out to me on a somewhat-dead Monday night was not cold. In fact, I wondered whether it was worth making a fuss about asking to send it back for something colder. Not 3 minutes after ordering my burger, another patron put his arms on the shoulder of the guy sitting next to me at the bar, leaned in and said "the burger was no beuno, order something else". Oh boy. (He was WRONG, read on...) I asked to try a different beer in hopes of getting something colder. After about 10 minutes passed, it was obvious that Beer 2.0 was forgotten and never delivered. Flagged bartender down again, asked if I could get my beer. The IPA came out and was just as warm as the first beer. In the end the burger was actually the best thing about this experience - it was juicy, well-cooked. The side salad with the citrus dressing was also excellent. But honestly, if a "brewery" cannot keep its beer cold, it's taps clean, what's the point? read more
