The barista was very nice and helpful. She explained that their coffee is already strong and offered to do a lighter caramel drizzle, which I appreciated. I usually avoid iced coffee because it can taste watered down to me, but I figured a blended drink might be different. Unfortunately, when I took my first sip, it still tasted watery and not as strong as I was hoping for. I think it may have just needed more coffee flavor overall, so I was a little disappointed with the drink itself. The space was nice, though. It had couches, seating throughout, and enough room for small groups to sit and hang out. Overall, the barista was kind and tried to be helpful, but the drink just was not executed the way I had hoped. I probably would not make a special trip back, especially since it is downtown, but I did appreciate the atmosphere and the customer service.

It's feels like matcha meets autumn to me. It's fun I like it. - The Snapshot (A craft coffee float, with house made Esplanade coffee cola and custom black cherry ice cream from Cheaters Creamery. Served in house only and Iced.) - I was expecting something like an affogato when we ordered the drink for some reason but it definitely more of a coke float. They nailed it honestly. I didn't taste any coffee flavor in the few sips I had but my boyfriend said he was able to taste it. The drink comes with a fun Polaroid photo which is fun. Honestly a very unique retro summer vibe drink. - Breakfast Burrito - Honestly pretty decent. - Nutella Banana Bread - Unfortunately their oven was down so we couldn't get it toasted/warm but I think that would've been significantly better. It satisfied my craving. Definitely would consider coming back to try other fun seasonal drinks. In terms of seating, they have a large table in the front of the store, a few seats along the window that is more counter style, and a few tables in the back. From what I saw it looks like they had a decent amount of outlets and USB plugs available. Parking lot is pretty small though. They share a parking lot with a pottery studio and a little clothing store (that's also connected to the coffee shop). Not sure what the street parking situation is. We've come a couple times and would decide to go in or not based on the parking situation.

It almost didn't taste like coffee to me since it had a strong fruity taste with a citrusy cold foam on top, which made it a sweet treat for the summer. The Chantilly was creamy and sweet --it's a cold brew with cognac cream and black lava salt. They had lots of tables indoors for seating, although it does get crowded during peak hours. They have a small parking lot or you can find parking on the surrounding streets.

Upon taking my first sip, I was not sure what to think. Sip #2 got better. Sip #3 was awesome. I am not sure what cherry cheong sauce is, but it basically just tasted like cherry juice. And honestly, that's kind of what the coffee tasted like. So did I feel caffeinated from this drink? No. But it was delicious and I appreciated the creativity. As such, all of the decor you see, and the overall dark theme of the space, is due to the bar and quite a departure from the lively and colourful murals that decorated Xela's original Second Ward cafe. If you look up my original post on my website, you'll see that that building was awesome, BUT this new space does have the adantage of offering indoor seating--the old cafe was patio seating only. Coffee-wise, just as I wrote back in 2021, Xela roasts too dark for me, BUT this time I was able to select their lightest Guatemalan for a V60 pour over, and I liked it better than my original experience. I also give propz to the staff, including a highly knowledgeable barista who helped me select the coffee and answered a lot my questions include how to pronounce Xela (it's not like Xavier, but rather the Guatemalan pronunciation, more like Chela). I used to get a flat white w/ oat milk and 1 stevia (I use my own brand). The combination literally tastes like hot chocolate. It was my go-to for years. As I wanted to lose weight, however, I transitioned to quad Americanos w/ a splash of milk and 1 stevia. Still very tasty. It reminds me of a Starbucks canned coffee (that was LOW sugar) way back in the day that they stopped making (2007-2009). Obviously, there is no comparison w/ re: to quality but I did want to mention. The staff here have always been friendly, particularly Hilary, who I believe is at the Sugarland location now. I recently watched a YouTube video on a guy that travels across cities to try the best coffee and he ranked the pour over at Blendin very high. I need to try that one day! The coffee itself was good enough that I'd recommend giving it a try, especially if you're using the drive-thru. However, the challenging parking and awkward lot logistics are the main reasons I may not return.
