An update to my previous review (which I removed): Lola Savannah contacted me this morning and sincerely apologized for not responding earlier. They had originally shipped me the wrong coffee last month. Now they are refunding my money and shipping me the right coffee. They were very apologetic and explained to me what happened. It is a family owned business and as mentioned in my original review, the coffee is delicious! And now, my confidence in their customer service is also great! Eons ago, when Lola Savannah had what I'm guessing was its original location on Commerce Street, I remember visiting and buying coffee. Back then, you could see bags of coffee beans of various flavor profiles arranged in the warehouse. Those days are long gone and Lola Savannah seems to be much more public-facing in its latest iteration. I am just happy the brand and business are still around after all these years. I also look forward to getting some more excellent Lola coffee beans soon. read more

I've been a customer now for over decade. When we lived in Houston I purchased directly at their location. That has been closed since they sold out. I've given their coffee in housewarming gifts, gotten them many customers, over the years. I was extremely disappointed to learn they sold to Dunkin, it created conflict with the first issue of my personal decision to support a LOCAL FAMILY OWNED company. I just received my first order post acquisition. The ORIGINAL Texas Pecan lacks "pecans" it is now "flavored", seems logical that this would be FALSE advertising, IE remove the title of "original" from the now PLASTIC bags, which creates the second issue, plastic over the paper. Seems to be a contradiction of the "nothing is going to change" we always here with large corporate sell outs. I realize my purchases are not what kept them in business, I have no idea the flavor of the NEW flavoring in the "ORIGINAL" labeled bag, as I finish the last bag of the old system, but I know this will be my last purchase. read more

The employees were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. We have been buying Texas Pecan for decades as we have moved around the country. We used to buy flavored teas (favorite was Peach) until they were no longer offered. We found out on the visit that there are some flavored teas available and bought Blueberry and Raspberry to try. We came to buy coffee due to our HEB store in College Station no longer carrying Lola Savannah. We will be complaining to HEB management about this. read more

I have been a long time customer of Lola Savannah. I normally order a big shipment of their holiday flavors around this time and thoroughly enjoy trying a new holiday flavor every year. This year I was not a fan of the one I chose so I wrote their customer service department about it. Jesus Mora arranged to have one of their staff to come all the way to my house in League City, TX to exchange it for me. Now that's AAA+++ service!!! They're down the road from my work but I was ordering a large quantity so made enough for the free shipping (5-7 business days). My coworker was antsy about getting it ASAP and surprisingly it did take a while to get to us (8x 1lb bags). My coffee tasted okay (cookies and cream), it wasn't the BEST coffee I've ever had but it wasn't bad. They do have a lot of interesting flavors though, I'll have to wait to see how the rest taste once I give them to everybody (gifts). read more

Lola Savannah is what coffee should taste like. My husband is a coffee aficionado, and he pretty much only drinks Lola Savannah coffee. They are available at HEB and Central Market. Their pricing is about the same as Starbucks beans. A big different is that they don't burn their beans (which gives the bitter taste in coffee) during the roasting process. Coffee is actually a berry, so it's suppose to be slightly sour. We gave out Hawaiian Blend Kona beans as our wedding favors. They were widely popular. I'm a coffee snob. I use a micro-gram scale to measure my shots and am building a roaster. I "kinda" know a little bit about coffee... but really nothing compared to these guys. Their knowledge of coffee is... well, to draw from the Jack & the Beanstalk analogy... they're either giants... or magic beans... or both! These are friendly, very awake people. They're also passionate about coffee and willing to share knowledge. They worked with me for quite a long time to understand my flavor preferences, discuss how to best achieve results with different beans, and, well, just a ton of stuff about coffee. I adore finding people that love what they do. There need to be more people like this in the world. This is NOT a cafe. They're primarily a coffee roaster. There aren't comfy chairs to sit in as you talk about coffee. Instead, you stand amongst thousands of pounds of green coffee on pallets and, well, tell 'em what you like. They'll make a roast/blend for whatever you want. They even *shudder* make flavored coffees (bleck -- some people just have defective taste buds... or don't actually like/taste/appreciate coffee?). So, while I went for single-origin stuff (although I did learn an interesting technique for making a s.o. blend, today -- kewl), you can get whatever you'd like. Again, this is a great place for coffee lovers, for those wanting something specific, and possibly for those ordering larger quantities. It also smells nice, there (well, except for the "flavoured room"). They have a good reputation around town for a reason. You can find their coffee at Central Market and a few other places. NB: if you're making espresso, you need to consume coffee within 4-5 days of roasting (for best results/crema/flavor). read more

I mean where do I start? It would be an understatement if I said it was the BEST customer service experience I've ever had in my life...in any field...forreal. I went today bc I found the place on yelp and just wanted a couple bags of coffee for my espresso machine, one for my cold brew jug, and one for my sister. The two guys at the front explained everything to me...which coffee would be best for what. They then gave me a tour of the place which was amazing! Now don't all go rushing there for the tour...if they are really busy they probably won't have the time! Got home and made and espresso which was smooth and rich. First time visiting a local roaster and it was a great experience. The staff was friendly and accommodating when helping me identify what coffee beans to buy for making espresso. They even mentioned that they can personalize their coffee based on what flavors you're looking for so that'll be exciting to explore next month! Their recommendations for me were espresso dolche and the House blend. Overall the dolche is to my liking when I said that I don't like beans that are acidic/bright. Pricing was great too at $10/lb of coffee, which for freshly roasted beans is not bad at all. Lastly, the staff mentioned to call ahead by at least 24 hours if ordering more than 1 pound of something as a courtesy. They gave me an exception since it was my first time here but just thought I'd post it and help spread the word. I'm very much looking forward to my next visit. read more

Even if you are one of those coffee snobs who think "real coffee is black & unflavored", give Lola Savannah a try. I buy my Lola Savannah at the local HEB store. They have spoiled me with such wonderful flavors and aromas that they are pretty much the only brand I will buy now! Most recently I has some of the Velvet Blend which even though it's not a flavored coffee, the taste is so smooth and rich and unique it's hard to believe there isn't any flavoring in there! Today I had the Tiramisu and it is just as delightful! One of the more funnier flavors is "Lunch with Elvis", which is a Banana & Peanut Butter flavor. It's very subtle and very good... You just have to smile when you sip it thinking, yeah I bet Elvis would be proud of this coffee. I usually buy the little pre-ground packs, that way I don't get tired of a particular flavor, and I don't have to spend a ton of money buying more coffee than I really want or need. I like variety and they certainly have it. Every flavor / blend is unique and so far they are all awesome! EDIT - Forgot to mention, a few years ago I met one of the roasters at the HEB store. We chatted for a bit and he was a really cool guy. You can definitely tell they are passionate about their coffee and quality. read more

Years ago, I worked down the street from Lola Savannah in downtown. Needless to say, there was ALWAYS a wonderful aroma in the air. I'm definitely not a coffee connoisseur. In fact, I prefer flavored coffees. I find that some non-flavored coffees are too strong for me. I've only tried a few Lola Savannah coffee flavors but my absolute favorite is Angel Dust. Of course I love the clever name. This flavor is a blend of chocolate and coconut. It truly is HEAVEN! There are so many flavors I want to try like Almond Bliss, Cozy Winter's Night, Creme Brulee, Pumpkin Spice, etc. I think I tried the Tiramisu years ago and it was good too. Lunch With Elvis sounds interesting. But I'm not sure I'd be a fan of banana and peanut butter flavors in my coffee. I guess I shouldn't knock it until I try it because I will probably love it. If you are more of a flavored coffee fan like me, you will love Lola Savannah. They have a wide variety of unique flavors. And based on the other reviews on this site, it sounds like their non-flavored coffees are great too! read more

I LOVE....this coffee. I have been drinking it for several years. I LOVE the pumpkin spice and the cinnamon stick decaf. I use half and half of these for an awesome brew. I called them about a year ago when I could no longer purchase the pumpkin spice at HEB and they were terrific. I bought several bricks of coffee and I store it in a dark, air tight container and I never have to worry if I can purchase the coffee when I need it. Great customer service. My office has been buying Starbucks ground for years. We recently tried Lola Savannah coffees. Coffees are 5 stars! Super delicious and very reasonably priced. Searched for some highly rated Texas Pecan coffee online and came across Lola Savannah Coffee & Tea. From the ratings I thought I'd stop by and picked up a pound. This is by far some of the best coffee I have tasted!! Very smooth and fresh! If you are a coffee drinker, you will be highly impressed with this coffee, I promise you! I received a French Press and a conical burr grinder for Christmas this last year and my life has changed for the better. What I didn't realize pre-French Press is Starbucks coffee beans are commonly old/stale and it is hard to find a bag of beans at the grocery store that wasn't less than 3 months+ old. When I found these guys were within walking distance from work, I went that day. The guys at Lola Savannah are absolutely awesome. When I stuck my head into the warehouse, during their lunchtime, I was expecting the cold shoulder. I was pleasantly surprised to find a group of guys that were willing to take me back to their roasting room, talk to me about what kind of coffee I liked and what they had to offer. I started with a Guatemalan Antigua and my taste buds have been opened into the world of "real" coffee. If I can loosely quote one of the employees there "Coffee is like a steak, you overcook it and the flavor is gone". I objectively recommend Lola Savannah. read more

This has become my favorite coffee and place to go! Their coffee is REALLY tasty. I forgot how really well roasted coffee tasted like. I little bitter with tons of flavor! Milk is so well frothed. When you go, you may be served quickly or you may have to get in line and it may take some time. It may take 5 minutes or 10. It's worth it. Sit and enjoy the art on the walls and all over! This is a casual place where you will see people dressed superbly, casual, hipster and lots of professionals from the area. I LOVE, love going there. Indoor seating is great. Lola is NOT a CAFE, lol! They're roasters, and I was glad to find them. Seeking a latte near the convention center, I googled and found Lola. The nice guys who run the place laughed and said people make the mistake all the time. I was about to leave, but decided to buy three pounds of fresh roasted beans as edible gifts when I return to Boston. They gave me a tour and they sure run a tight ship. But as a Cambridge quasi-coffee snob, I assumed there couldn't be a good roaster this far from George Howell. But for $8/lb, wow, that's cheap and worth a try. I got two of the Texas Pecan and a Sumatra. In short, the Texas Pecan is excellent, and the perfect gift for those visiting Houston. The Sumatra was also very good. And the price is simply amazing for the freshest roasted coffee (so fresh that you have WAIT 24 hours before grinding, because the beans haven't finished giving off their aromatic gases). read more

I love driving into downtown and smelling the beans roasting once I pass Lola Savannah. I looked up the company and read the reviews. I had started an online purchase a couple of times before absolving to just stop by and pick up the coffee in person. Today was the day because I needed the coffee for a Christmas gift basket I'm making. I went by the recommendations others have posted on Yelp of their favorite flavors. I meter-parked (coins--l had about 70 cents) and entered the front office. I was greeted by some really friendly guys who were great in taking my order and offering recommendations for a final coffee flavor when I asked for their input. I could tell that all of them took so much pride in the company they work for and they were just incredibly nice and cordial. I can't wait for my family to taste the coffee I purchased. They are seriously hard to buy for--so I hope what I have planned will be well received. I really look forward to becoming a long-time customer of Lola Savannah. These guys have great coffee! Their Texas Pecan is incredible, it has little bits of pecan mixed in with the beans which gives it such a good flavor. I love waking up with a cup of it.
