The service was great and very responsive. The atmosphere was good. I'm a picky eater and I done like my food to be disguised by sauces and spices. I thought I made that clear to the waiter, but there was seasoning on the burger, which disguised the flavor of the meat.- the seasoning was all I tasted. I managed to eat about 1/2 of the burger. The fries were good. The waiter offered to have the burger remade, but I declined his offer. He did give me a free dessert. read more

Was in town for the day and happened on to 7by7. I had the fish and chips which were absolutely delicious. I am use to the battered fish, but this was panko encrusted. Te fish was fresh, hot and even crunchie. Served with Cole slaw and of course perfectly cooked potatoes. My constant companion had the seafood chowder which was served with focaccia. Absolutely perfect for a cold and windy July day in Sydney. My mother taught me to check the restroom when you go into a new restaurant. Well, they pass the Big Rose test and so did the food. The only thing better was the waitress who is working her way through college. She was a dynamo who never stops moving while genuinely caring for her customers. Diverse menu with lots to choose from. I believed the kitchen was overwhelmed by the number of diners ( 2 3000+ cruise ship at the dock ). We had to wait a long time for our food and sadly by the time they came the food was lukewarm. It wasn't a problem with the lobster roll but the rest of the food. Owner offered to reheat them ( not sure what would become of a reheat poutine ! ). We declined and just ate. The market price on the lobster roll is very high $38 ! I had the same the next day on the waterfront of Halifax at a very fancy place and paid quite a bit less. Our server tried her best and as such we left her a very generous tips. read more

This place was amazing. Stopped by on a tour and I started with an all homemade Arnold palmer including in house made tea as well as house made lemonade. Was probably the best Arnold Palmer I've ever had!! Then we got the clam chowder and it was super rich and creamy. The bread that came with that was crave worthy - perfectly toasted and buttered. We finished off with the scallop and muscle risotto - scallops were slightly over cooked but overall yummy yummy! read more

Ask the natives. First went to City Hall, asking for something unique to see in town while on my cruise. They suggested the thrift/new stuff, too, shop. Gala Re, across from the YMCA. The owner is a kick. He suggested 7by7. OMG...YUM!!!!! I got the pasta (Seafood Linguine) and asked for JUST the shrimp and crab. (comes with fish and scallops, but not a fan) SO delish!!! They were so accommodating. I needed to charge my phone and they had plenty of tables next to plugs. The server and staff at the front desk were awesome! The basil pesto sauce was yummmmy! Even the garlic bread was delicious! No waiting to be seated and the server was fast and outstanding! There were a few ships in town. Guess we picked a good time to go! read more

Very polite waitresses but very slow service. My husband ordered the haddock wrap. It was so full of mayonnaise that he could not even taste the fish. I ordered the lobster club. There was a minimal amount of lobster even on the sandwich. Sweet potato Fries were good. We decided to try poutine since this was our first opportunity. The gravy tasted like balsamic vinegar. It was not very good. When we paid the check, the waitress made a point to ask me how my lunch was but not my husband. She could definitely tell that he did not like it. if there were six stars, I would give it seven! As a vegan traveling Nova Scotia, it was so wonderful to visit a restaurant with an entire vegan menu in addition to what looked like a splendid menu of creative multicultural dishes. The house salad is a generous serving of greens, tomato, cucumber, pickled onions, crispy chickpeas, and toasted almonds perfectly dressed with a tangy maple Dijon vinaigrette. I devoured it! The vegan mac and cheese, with the optional tofu bacon, was a religious experience. Huge portion and I have some left over for a snack tomorrow. The secret is apparently their house made vegan queso. I sat outside on the patio on a lovely, breezy summer evening. My server, Cassidy, was so warm and attentive; she made me feel right at home and I wish I could find her clone in every dining establishment. A great dinner off the beaten track in Sydney. Great service and food. We had the arancini and pan seared salmon with pancetta Parmesan risotto as well the seafood bouillabaisse all were excellent! If I am ever back in Sydney will definitely be back to 7by7 read more

Dog friendly-a plus!! The food was pretty good (healthier options than most), but the service was a bit slow. Table management! A couple (maybe first date?) sat for twenty minutes after finishing and paying. I suspect if the waitress would have just asked if they wanted anything else, they would have realized they were holding up the table. read more

Subtle, non-glitzy interior & some impressive meals: bacon-wrapped scallops steamed in a glass case at the table; a souvlaki; a paprika-infused pasta & seafood dish; the linguini dish was a tad too tart, though. An unexpected gem on Charlotte Street! Highly recommend 7by7 for their great menu and cocktails. I loved the scallop risotto and my husband enjoyed his spicy chicken sandwich. He's still talking about how tender and moist the chicken was. Great service, and a welcome change from the fried seafood staples everywhere else! read more

Hidden Gem; a block off the beaten path, we stumbled on this place almost by accident - but so glad we did! The service was friendly, attentive and excellent. The menu selection is broad and caters to a wide range of culinary and dietary needs. Our food was excellent - basic burger and the 7x7 Clubhouse, as well as the Blueberry cake and a range of local ciders. Definitely check this place out - we will be back next time in town! read more
