Harry Winston hosted an event for a charity my employer supports and I found myself hob nobbing with high society (including celebs like Christian Slater) to raise money for a really good cause. Despite being invited, I felt very out of place at first. However, the sales people were more than welcoming (even though they knew that I wouldn't be buying any of their jewelry). In fact, they offered to let me try on a sunflower diamond necklace worth about a gazillion bucks. All I could think of was the scene in Pretty Woman where Richard Gere and Julia Roberts are getting ready to go to the opera and he throws that brilliant, sparkly necklace just dripping with diamonds around her neck ("Don't get too excited - just a loaner for the night"). I expected snobbery, but what I received was nothing but niceness. If I ever win the lotto, I'll be sure to stop in at Harry Winston for top notch service and some amazing bling!
