They have been around for over 20 years and I remember coming here pre-Covid for Yugioh tournaments to huge gatherings of people sharing their passion for a game. How many small businesses can say they were responsible for bringing lifelong friends together and provide people an escape to their daily lives through a positive channel? I read through some reviews and there are some people claiming that packs are being resealed, but I those are just people who are frustrated with their luck. It's disappointing to see that they are projecting their own pack addiction on the integrity of the family that are so humble and friendly. It's a local treasure but I'm not sure how to plug into whatever happens at the store. I don't know if they have tournaments or any other reason why people gather there. It is a fun place, but it needs a kick start and some marketing I think. If they hosted events or even food trucks I think they would have a more vibrant business. This place is horribly depressing inside, literally everything is behind scratched to hell glass almost no products, no service to help you buy cards that you literally can only see if someone helps you. None of the pictures on any reviews show how sad it looks inside, unfortunate. Looks more like a shop only catering to eBay and online sales. Maybe the 5 foot tall glass displays is to deter vandals but it really ruins any sort of customer experience. Stay away if you want to casually walk into this store to buy stuff. A true gem in Torrance. Family-owned business since the 90s. I used to come here every weekend as a kid and I can't believe that they're still around. I always try to make a trip here whenever I'm back in town. The owners are so sweet and explains why they have such loyal customers, some of them with their own families and kids now. Excellent customer service, they give great suggestions based on what you need. 100% authentic, they used to hold official tournaments by Konami. They have a great selection of booster packs and boxes. The way to pull a Mega Pokemon or any rare card in general is to buy sealed boxes, which trust me, you'll know if it's re-sealed right away by the way the seal looks. They used to display individual cards but things have definitely changed, especially after COVID, and they are moving towards more online sales & business. Everything is still available, you just need to look it up online beforehand. They allow you to purchase online or call-in to save cards seen online and come-in to do pick-up so that you save on shipping costs. They occasionally buy used cards and those are the single cards listed online. Please remember that this is a small business and they are not buying to collect, they are buying to make a living. There are a lot of costs and time spent sorting, organizing, storing, listing, and potentially shipping these individual cards. The owner is always upfront on how they buy cards. If you are selling singles, they will look up market price and offer you a price they feel worth it for them to buy and resell. The price is always mutually agreed on between the seller and buyer. There are plenty of avenues for one to sell privately, such as Facebook Marketplace and eBay if you are hoping to get 100% market price. This store is based on honest, hard-working people and I will always rather spend my money here, rather than a corporate conglomerate like Walmart or Target! Good store to buy card sleeves and top loader and similar products, but not good for buying cards. Prices are expensive for cards, comparable to ebay, which is market price so you're not getting any type of food deal here. Also I believe the packs are opened and resealed, just too many of the same basic cards being pulled from packs all the time after hundreds being spent, too much consistency of bad cards in booster packs and "sealed" boxes. My son and I went there today for Pokemon cards...what a GREAT selection and very fair prices!!!! We will definitely return for more. Service was very friendly as well! My perspective: Pokemon collector, general geek, former Torrance resident. This family-run business used to have two locations years ago, but I believe this is the only location now. Conveniently located on Crenshaw just off the 405 freeway, 8 Ball shares a tiny parking lot in a small strip mall. Sandwiched in between a gas station and the post office, this may be easy to miss if you've never visit before. There is a good selection of sealed Pokemon products, which is why I go here. Prices are usually under MSRP, and competitive with the slightly-discounted prices you may find at online retailers. Definitely not the place to go for singles--they don't carry anything noteworthy, and what they do have is overpriced. Much of the store is devoted to Yu-Gi-Oh, and there are players here hanging out and playing every time I've visited. Tables and chairs are available inside and outside the store. Other products include Cardfight!! Vanguard, some sports cards, and hobby supplies. Every $10 worth of purchases earns you a raffle ticket. Last Saturday of the month is a raffle drawing, where you can win store gift cards. read more

Ordered an Infernoid Devyaty for a good price from their online site on January 2nd and never received it. Contacted the seller on the 29th inquiring if the order was ever sent out, got this as a reply: "We have something wrong on inventory of this item. Don't know what is the problem." In the meantime the card's value had tripled, leaving me doubting it was just a random inventory error. Seller did at least provide a refund, however at this point it's a little too late. read more

Today I purchased an 06/07 SPX box of basketball cards from 8 Ball. I was there with my friend who also bought a box of 06/07 SPX cards (18 packs). My box was open (my friend's was still sealed) and mine had 4 packs of cards removed (14 packs remaining). Talked with owner of 8 Ball who stated he and he did not have any other boxes for sale (I normally only buy sealed boxes - reason explained below). We opened all of the packs from both boxes together. My friend got exactly 4 signed SPX autographs from his unopened box of cards (from 4 different packs). I did not pull even one. Each SPX box of cards is guaranteed to have a certain number of signed cards. It is highly likely (statistically certainty) that 8 Ball pulled the signature packs from the opened box and then sold me the worthless remaining packs. DO NOT EVER buy packs of cards from 8 Ball that come from an opened box - as they will Rip You Off!!! read more

Great hobby store. Mondays are 40k night. If I had to be nitpicky then I would have to point out the terrain they allow you to play with. Its very warn out and used up. Other then that the sales staff is very knowledable and helpful. The sales staff that is. The ones that aren't behind the register really need to smile at least a little.
