I've said this before but sometimes In Yelp I wish there was an option to give a place a half star because 8-Bit Bites would get 3.5 stars if I had my choice. I went to 8 Bit Bites on a recent Sunday to check it out. The place caters to nostalgia with it's retro videogames via emulator and 80s music and overall decor of the place. It is a trip down memory lane. The food while technically fast food was actually fairly good/decent and on par with smash burger type places that have sprung up in the city. At first we were surprised at all the takeout orders but then once we tried it we realized why. We ordered the burger, chicken sandwich, fries and lemonade. All were good. The fries were the best of the bunch as they were seasoned just right. The service was fairly quick. My main complaint and why I would give 3.5 stars instead of 4 is the size of the place and the lack of bathrooms, which I was surprised by. It is a fairly tiny space with only 4 game stations. I would hate to stop by during a busy time and be shutout of being able to play. read more

I came here for my birthday since I had the day off but couldn't do mush in the afternoon since it was the first day of school for my daughter. I had heard that this was a burger place that honored the 80s video game world and that they had great shakes. So I went with my daughter after school and was bummed at first that all 3 tables were occupied. There was a small side table but it was too narrow dor my daughter and I to sit. So the place is too small for in-dining but fortunately there was a table available as soon as I was done ordering. To order, you look at the menus, which were little worn out but still readable. I ordered their regular burger with a chocolate shake, which were delicious. The shake was so rich but not to the point that it gave me a toothache and velvety smooth. The burger was well cooked with a sauce that made it stand out. My favorite thing to eat ended up being what my sister ordered when she ended up dropping by, which was chicken tenders with cheese in it. It's cheese-pull game was strong. My daughter loved it there because she got to play old school video games while eating and gave me a little lesson on why the place is called 8-bits. I love the videogame theme including over 1000+ games to play for free. This is such a fun and casual spot to hang out. The floor also lights up and they really bring out this nostalgic 80's/90's vibe here like you're hanging in the basement of your high school friends' place. They have your classic American burgers, fried chicken, and milkshakes here. We opted for the Baby Squad Combo ($21.95), which includes a Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, Classic Smashburger, 2 Chicken Tenders, and Fries/Tots. I did upgrade some cheese on my tots for an extra $2, but not really worth it. Also got tow canned sodas for $2 each too. Both burgers/sandwiches are pretty petite similar to sliders or burgers from McDonald's and 7th Street. Unfortunately, they were just ok and didn't really stand out to me. The chicken in the tenders and sandwich were both a bit too dry and hard too, so definitely needed sauce for them. The food was mediocre, but reasonable pricing. 4th location out of the 5 in the city and out of them all, this location is definitely the smallest so far. Only enough sitting room for 3 tables and on a Saturday afternoon, a family came right after I ordered so place got crowded quickly. The good: The food is always hitting and is top tier. I wanted to get something different other than the usual lunch special, so I had tenders, funnel cake fries and a cookies and cream shake. Tenders are nice and juicy with the right amount of zest for flavor. The funnel cake fries were a delight and kinda filled me up quickly so I advise eating that on an empty stomach and the shake, now that I had a couple of them at this point, I take back what I said about the shakes on my first visit to the franchise. I had an iffy experience with the choco mountain shake, had an incredible delight with the orange dreamsicle shake and the cookies and cream joint being the tie breaker solidified and redeemed the cereal based shakes. Maybe the first one wasn't made well but I now feel safe with ordering milkshakes here. The bad: I was not a fan of the guy behind the counter. He wasn't very welcoming, kinda distant and got that "McDonald's worker" vibe from him which is not what I received from the other locations. The service at those spots are friendly and forthcoming. The guy had that vibe of he didn't enjoy being there and I felt that which made me feel a tad uneasy. Although this was the only weak point of the review, I place service over everything because it sets the vibe, the tone and the feel of the experience you're having in the establishment and if that person doesn't make that effort, I will take notice of it. That's not the only thing that took this review from a 5 to a 4 star. The guy did not inform or ask me if I wanted Ice cream with my fries. I had no idea that was an option for the funnel cake fries until I found out from the website a few minutes ago. How do you overlook something like that? Maybe I wanted ice cream to go with my funnel cake fries to further enhance the flavor which would've been an awesome option had I known of it. That is a big miss even if it is the only one. Such a cute late night spot, that feels like you just stepped into a game of Mario as soon as you walk in. The door makes the cute sound of Mario when he sizes up! Just the cutest aesthetic!! I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to eat as they had so many options. I will say it is on the greasier side. If you're looking for something healthy this may not be the place for you. Came here during their soft opening. Love the 80s music playing outside. Once you enter there is a cool light up floor. The décor was nostalgic but also made me feel like I was on an episode of Saved By The Bell (the early years). There are about 3 tables and with each table there is an accompanying game console playing classic 80s video games. I'm here for Pac Man and Street Fighter all day. It was dope to play the games while waiting for my food. To order, you can go to the counter or use the kiosk. If you order at the koisk there is a secret menu on there as well. The menu consists of halal burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries and dessert. One thing that was really cool was the squad box which is great for group of 4 to 12 ppl. I was overwhelmed with what I should order but ultimately I went with the Nashville Chick ($7) which came with spicy Nashville chicken, coleslaw and pickles. It was cool but I've had better. This place was so fun. The food came out wuick and fresh. The floor was basically a dance floor and fun to dance on. The place itself is tiny and a little cramped. You have to wait a while if you want a table to play the retro games on. The staff was so friendly. They had missed an item on our order but quickly assisted us on it. We got the an item that had a little bit of everything. It came with a burger a chicken sandwich and fries. The burger was good but could have used a different patty. The chicken we got as a hot Nashville chicken and it was the right amount of spicy. The fries were interesting as it was heay seasoned by went great with the nacho cheese to dip it in. This is a new concept restaurant (hard to call the restaurant with how small it is but I digress) which serves American food with as the names suggest a collection of 8-bit video games. I'm happy that the generic menu here doesn't have stuff named after games or whatever but instead it's basic consisting of smash burgers, shakes, tenders, wings, and fries. The food here is surprisingly halal but that is somewhat expected as it is pretty close to Atlantic Avenue and it's across the street from AGYRYO which is also halal. I got the double smash burger consisting of a patty with cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, pickles, and 8bit sauce as a combo with fries which is $9 without the fries or $13 with them. The burger was very juicy and while I prefer other types of cheeses, it's a generic American spot so I don't exactly expect anything but American cheese. The surprisingly good part of this was the fries. Larger than normal and topped with something with a slight kick. It might have been cayenne or chipotle or some type of mild seasoning but it elevated the fries from something generic to something very tasty. I'll probably try the chicken sandwich (very likely the Nashville chicken) or the tenders next time. In many ways I would compare this spot to a strictly better version of Blue Collar. The double patty is cheaper and tastier (much more juicy,) the onions are grilled which it is an add-on for the other spot for some reason, and there are combos with fries and the fries are just better. Sure there is a better burger at let's say Henry Public but the atmosphere there is different and it takes a lot longer so if you're looking for a pretty reasonably priced generic juicy and slightly greasy burger, it's hard to beat this spot. Keep in mind that this dish has cheese sauce, grilled onions, jalapenos & and beef Bacon. If you are a spice lover like me, then you will enjoy the heat that these fries give off. The fries on its own are seasoned well, but with the cheese sauce, jalapeno, and the crispy bacon, it just brings the fries to a whole other level. As soon as I saw this place on someone's social media I knew I had to make an appearance. Yes, it's SMALL, but oh-so-cool, the concept reminiscent of Action Burger over in East Williamsburg, only here, you don't need to sign up or "reserve" to play anything. Just grab a seat at one of the 3 tables with consoles (there's an additional 3 seater bar table looking out the front window of the place, but with no gaming) and find a game you're feeling on the emulator list. The burgers here are GOOD. Similar to Shake Shack small, but GOOD and fairly priced. The shakes were also delicious. We got both the Rainbow Road and Choco Mountain flavors which had Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles mixed in respectively. I would love to come back and try their wings and maybe even a chicken sandwich. :D They claim the kiosks have a "secret menu" but I didn't recognize it. The amount of delivery orders these guys were fulfilling for UberEats/DoorDash was crazy, which means the neighborhood also vouches for their deliciousness. I had this placed saved to take my son but when he asked me to go there with friends last night I was a bit hesitant lol but I let him go anyway. He was impressed with every single thing he ate. I couldn't let him leave without bringing something back for me. I asked for the double cheeseburger with no tomatoes and it came with fries. 10/10, 5/5 however you want to rate it. I put the fries in the air fryer for about 3-4 mins. This place did not disappoint. I'm not a huge burger person but my stomach thanked me after every bite. Got their Double patty smashburger with all the fixins' and a Berry-Berry Beach milkshake (fruity pebble cereal blended with fruits). Cute little spot. Really good food. Retro vibe. Played '80's- early '90's Top 40 while we were there. There are 3 tables that seat 4 at each table, and a counter for 3. There's a TV at each table that's loaded with various gaming systems, and tons of games for each system. There are 4 controllers at TV, but they don't all work, and a couple of them are missing Right Top button. Actually, the only thing we were able to do was select a game. We didn't get to actually play anything, which was very saddening; and that's why they lost a star. Now, for the food. There are smash-type burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, & boneless chicken or chicken wings (don't remember which) options. We got 2 double cheese burgers, 3- piece tenders w/ fries, funnel cake fries w/ Strawberry jam/ preserve (?) and powdered sugar, & 3 milkshakes for $72 and change. I was very full & satisfied when done! The burger was good on its own, but was better with a little salt & pepper added to it. My son liked the burger, but he really enjoyed the tenders my daughter got. The funnel cake fries were a nice side/ dessert that I will probably come back for as a treat. We all enjoyed our milkshakes. My son stated, "This is probably the best milkshake I've ever had!" I don't think it was THAT good but it was definitely tasty! We will probably be back here for food. Okay! So this was my first time trying 8-Bit Bites! They have games you can play while you sit and eat, there are really only 3 tables and 3 side chairs at a little high top in the front. Each table sits 4 people, I tried to go here on my break a few days ago and it was PACKED so I decided not to go. Today was a little less packed, so I decided to try it and see what the hype was all about. I got the chicken sandwich and fries with a side of their 8-bit sauce. Overall the sandwich was super good, I also added cheese to it! The french fries remind of potato chips and the seasoning on them is SUPER good. Their sauce is also yummy, pretty much like everywhere's signature sauce. The staff was very friendly, the set up was cool, very unique. No bathrooms, and was pretty clean. The only reason I am giving 4 stars and not 5 is because it was EXTREMELY loud in here. Music with the gaming sound on top, super overwhelming. Kids might love this place because of the games and how loud it is. It's also very small. Everyone had a milkshake so I definitely feel like I missed out on that memo! They also have a self ordering station where you can order through the screen and not talk to a staff member. Would definitely try more items & a milkshake next time! Overall super yummy! read more

You can order via kiosk, or in person at the register. It may be a bit difficult to sang a seat. However they have a 30 min table limit so, you will eventually get a seat. We were lucky & immediately got a seat but, just sharing that others may have to wait a bit if, you plan on eating in. The price point is very decent you will not be disappointed. My husband ate the chicken sandwich and the burger, he enjoyed the chicken sandwich but didn't enjoy the burger much. The seasoned fries were the best fries I've ever had! They were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Service: The people there were welcoming. The food didn't take long to come out. They were no napkins on the table and once we told them they replenished each table with napkins. Ambiance: It is a very small place. My favorite part was playing the games.
