This place changed my life. Came here in the Fall for pumpkin picking (off the vine, as is the proper way according to my friend) and had the best time. It was a perfect day, lots of pumpkins left despite being a few weeks out from Halloween. The store had lots of homemade goods, including this pear-flavored candle that was absolutely delicious and not too strong. They had lots of little pumpkins for decorations that were a good price. They sold baked potatoes with horseradish and corn on the cob that were SOOOO fresh and tasty. The baked potato just melted in your mouth and it warmed my soul. Very cute place, lots of picnic tables, a big truck of pumpkins to take pictures with... This place helped make autumn solidify as my favorite season. Nobody, we'll perhaps somebody that I never met before and probably will never meet in the future, appreciates a farm stand more that I. They speak of small esoteric farming, canning, baking and shelving for the passers by, for the community that have come here. Well, I'm not only a bit put off by that assumption that I hold dear and entered Schmitts with, but I've lost my grip and spilled my tea. As to not point the dirty end of the tomatoe stake at this one establishment, I'll open with a broad brush stroke to encapsulate east end Long Island road side merchants. "Y'all are a royal rip". Where in the world are you getting pricing from? A loaf of focchia and some cookies was $34.00 and the good girlfriend just glanced towards me as if to say "please don't say anything ". The first potential comment would have been to smile, perhaps an eye roll and follow with a "thank you but no thank you" Second potential comment which almost landed was "crooks, bag my sh*t, I'm never coming back again". Which is exactly what I've decided to do, but I knew it was coming in the periphery. Poorly tagged items, seeking the Local catch work too hard inside and out just in perfect time for seasonal shoppers to hear the spiders lullaby. I'm sure Schmitt could give a rats batookas of my opinions here, they're shoveling money out the back door and into their extra homes and boats and all the big boys toys. It's a memory that is not easy to digest, as the inside customer service was MTA-esq as it relates to sincerity. read more

Totally unimpressed! Plant prices were high and they hardly had anything. Won't be back. Definitely not worth the trip.

The best! All year round we head out to Schmitt's for pickles, jam's, fresh produce, pies, breads etc. now they also have a farm stand on Montauk highway in Westhampton Beach which has also the greatest hits plus fresh fish, clams etc. read more

This is a very nice little farm stand that sells delicious fresh veggies right out of the the garden.they also sell fresh homemade pies and cookies and to top it off they make there own home brewed tap beer that is very tasty. Oh yeah there is a corn maze and pumpkin field for the kids to enjoy. So if you're in the area give them a try I think you would enjoy the fresh roasted corn on the cob. read more

Even though I'm a local of 25 years, it was my 1st time going to this farm stand yesterday...and my last. Not only did the 2 women not acknowledge me even though I was the only one there at the moment, they went into the side room as I looked around. Another woman who was actually working and not having a conversation with each other while customers were there acknowledged me and asked if I needed anything. One of the women came out when I was ready to pay, she simply told me the amount and said nothing else. I happily said "thank you" and "have a great day" and STILL no response. I'm guessing they're good with my money spent elsewhere and others knowing where to NOT spend theirs as well. Only putting 1star as it requires it; otherwise it would be 0! read more

Yay for a farm being open in the winter! We were in Riverhead for the weekend and of course everyone back home was like get a pie from out there, get donuts, blah blah blah practically took orders lol. We came here and got some delicious fresh mozzarella, apple cider, apple pie which was delicious and cider donuts which my husband loved. GREAT FOR LAST MINUTE PIES!!! the pie looks so good and the service is nice!! We got a Carmel Apple Nut Pie and it is warm and taste great

Purchased their mums and questioned the price. Thought that $10.00 per mum pot was high. The cashier tells me well there is sales tax on the mum. I suggest to keep driving out east a little more and there are many farm stands selling the same mums for like deals of 8 for $10.00 see my picture. A rip off! read more

If you drive past Schmitt's on Sound and Roanoke and don't stop in for everything and anything they have you'd be foolish because I've been coming here for over 20 years and they are simply outstanding. The most amazing corn!!! No joke. It's magic. We discovered it even tastes great raw off the cob. Seriously I'm not sure how but this corn far exceeds the taste of other local farms. Multigrain bread is also off the charts for killer avocado toast read more

The horseradish is the best I have ever had and the times I have been there before they had little fresh bouquets which my mom loves.. The staff is usually friendly except for today the girl just wasn't at all interested in being friendly and it actually made me want to buy less. Maybe I caught her on an off day it's worth the trip though.. please buy local I always try when I can. read more

I've had the recent pleasure of getting to know some of the family members of the Schmitt farm, Kelsey in particular, and seeing them at local venues such as the Greenport Farmer's Market etc. I've also heard through the grapevine about Schmitt's exquisite corn and herbs that they grow and sell, in addition to other assorted fresh veggies. So with both of these notions coupled together, it was an ABSOLUTE must for me to trek out to the Greenport Farmer's Market yesterday, just to patronize their produce stand. Here's what I bought: Earth stuff: + Dill. I made a mostly egg-white curried dill egg salad with roasted cashews and their dill was the freshest dill I've had in a VERY long time. I'm a Whole Foods junkie along with a farm stand junkie (recently) and the rustic look of their dill (with the roots still in tact) along with the full/fresh flavor and scents that we all enjoy and love from dill, were absolutely great. It beats what I buy at WF and other farmstands alike... Not to mention that my curried egg salad was given rave reviews by my friends... + Basil. Everyone loves basil, well mostly everyone. I tried it raw and it exhibits all the wonderful characteristics that we've all come to love about Basil. It's fresh and raw, slightly crisp and once you're in to chewing the leaf, you'll notice the sharp peppery-ness of it after about 4-5 seconds of chewing. Some of the best Basil I've had in a while...and a HUGE hearty bunch of it! I can't wait to have it with some fresh mozzarella, tomatoes etc...YUM! + Corn. This is where Schmitt's farm outshines EVERYONE else...their corn is AMAZING. OH. MY. GOD. I have NOT had corn this good in several years...it now gets my thumbs up for being the BEST corn on Longuyland in my opinion...not to mention that it's not exactly "fully corn season yet" as it's mid July. The best corn is in late August and if their corn is this good now, I cannot but wait to try it at the end of August. WOW is all I have to say...I did it OUT of the husk, on the grill, with lime, salt and pepper rubbed on. This is the Indian way to do corn and it was exquisite... Schmitt's family farm has definitely left a lasting memory, specifically because of their corn and their wonderful family members that I have the pleasure of knowing (Kelsey). If you get a moment to visit the farm, do so or catch them at a farmer's market near you! PS - Apparently they also make fresh mozzarella...I can't WAIT to try this!
