Born and raised in Oahu and unfortunately moving to Texas due to the high cost of living. I wanted to get one last tattoo to remember my home state since I don't think I'm ever coming back, at least for a loooong time. I doing some browsing on YELP and found several places and sat down to do consultations only to find out that trying to do a full sleeve and half my chest would cost a fortune. When I finally made my way to 808 Tattoos, that's where I met Andrew Giletti who said that he'd work with my budget. I ended up downsizing my tattoo to just a half sleeve. I'm a huge fan of the teenage mutant ninja turtles (TMNT) and when I inquired about get a mix between the TMNT and some poly tattoo designs, I thought it'd be a hard project, but Andrew had some creative ideas and made it work. Because of the time constraints, he agreed to knock out this tattoo for me in one session which can be challenging and restless. It took almost 9.5 hours to complete this piece. The outcome and stinging pain was so worth it and the design was amaaazing and I just love it. My family and friends thought it was awesome as well. This little shop is located on the 2nd floor across the street from the Ala Moana Center and the main bus stop on Kona Street. Other than Andrew being one of the coolest down-to-earth chill guy, the other staff there were all very nice and friendly. The parking lot is small and shared with other establishments. read more

After researching several places and following artists on instagram I decided to see Holly at the Honolulu location. I drove in from Windward and wanted to make an appointment pretty far in advance because I needed childcare. They seemed pretty casual about the appointment process and had me texting the shop and wanted either cash or cash app down payment ($80) to hold. I gave Holly a vague inspiration picture and some small guidance on coloring and then just let her design and do her thing. I had seen her work on instagram and knew she had done great things with color and watercolor (though her realism and black and grey also looks awesome). She did absolutely fantastic work. Took my son to get his very first tattoo. He selected this specific location, as it was recommended to him from someone close. Anyway, upon reading reviews, I happily agreed and felt comfortable giving it a chance. I am so glad this was his first experience! Very welcoming and extremely professional! I highly recommend getting pierced here. I came in to get my tragus pierced. My piercer, myra was so sweet and very informative. She helped me decide to pierce my left side (since I sleep on my right side) and explained how the anatomy of my left tragus was better for the piercing as well. The piercing itself was quick and almost painless. After, she explained to me in detail how to care for my piercing and recommended affordable products that worked extremely well for me. She also gave me advice on how to fix my infected navel piercing. It's been five months, I've experienced no issues, and both my navel and tragus are fully healed. This shop is clean, sanitary, has a friendly staff, and lots of cute jewelry to select from. Definitely worth the price! read more

Unfortunately I can't remember the names of those who helped me but overall I was really happy with my experience at this shop. I went in to get a small tattoo to honor my time living in Hawaii. I knew what I wanted but I didn't know the font so one of the guys working offered to sketch something out and it was so perfect. I went to this place for my tattoo on Thanksgiving week, and some of the ink got in the fat tissue, it looks that the skin in that part is thinner than the rest, I have a couple more tattoos and I haven't had this issue before. I ask about fixing it, and the owner contacted me immediately to fix it with a laser. I'll update the pic once I see the final result. So far, I'm relieved to know there's a way to fix it, and the owner was really nice. Update: after the fixing, my tattoo looks gorgeous! The staff members that I had (minimal) interaction with were quite cordial. Andrew, the artist, was very attentive throughout the process, asking if I was okay, needed a break, etc. I originally wanted a simpler version but I'm happy with the design I ended up with, which we decided on after some discussion. I never cared for tattoos much when I was younger until I saw a beautiful girl at Sephora with the most beautiful Kirin tattoo I have ever seen on her chest. I asked her where she got tattooed at, and she told me to go see Billy at 808 tattoo. Well, six years later I finally got some work done by one of the best tattoo artists in Hawaii! You have to go see him for a consult first, and it took me a few months to get some appointments since he is booked out. Billy is very professional. He also has a super gentle hand, I was expecting the worst pain of my life when he tattooed my inner "ditch" elbow, but I hardly felt anything. The colors he uses are also amazing and most of all his lines are SUPER CLEAN. I have received numerous compliments on my tattoo, and it's not even finished yet. I got my ears pierced by Ama and it was such a great experience! She is so friendly and really made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process. She marked the placement perfectly on the first try, and talked me through everything she was doing (I didn't know what to expect since my only previous piercings were done at Claire's a looong time ago). It cost $60 for two earlobe piercings (including jewelry) but they also have more jewelry options for an additional $10-$15. They do accept walk-ins but she is actually the only one who does piercings. I went with 2 other friends on a Saturday and we called about an hour before we could go (even though we should have called much earlier..). Turns out she was off that day but she came in just for us!! She was very understanding about it since she said a good amount of piercings aren't really planned in advance. We can't thank her enough for her wonderful service! 10/10 recommend!! read more

Originally we came in for the daith piercing, but after talking with the piercer, she recommended the tragus piercing instead based off our ear anatomy. I wish I would've remembered her name, because she was so awesome!! She was personable and friendly, making sure we were comfortable and walking us through the process and aftercare. This was my first piercing ever, and I am so grateful that I stumbled upon this place. I came in with my mother and Ama(the piercer) did a wonderful job of explaining the process. My mother was quite scared of the process, but Ama handled it professionally, and provided an extremely comfortable space for my mom's piercings. The extent to which Ama reached out a day before to discuss my piercings was truly astonishing. You could tell that she is dedicated to her work, and how good she is at it.
