Recently, I found a new and talented tattoo artist (Ahi) at the newly opened Black Moon Collective (in Kaneohe). My wife and son had some work done by Ahi previously (when he was at another shop) and we were were all very impressed with his work. Typically, we're committed to an artist (versus the shop) so when Ahi moved, we moved with him. The shop is located between Discount Windows and Ace Hardware on Kamehameha Highway. You may just drive right by like I did the first time, especially since they haven't posted a sign as of yet. It is on Google Maps though. The shop is SUPER clean and inviting - well, as much as a tattoo shop can be. Parking isn't an issue, even though there aren't a ton of spots. The staff is welcoming. There is a restroom, but you will have to ask where it is . . . since it's in the back. read more

Black Moon Collective in Kaneohe is Hawaii's best tattoo shop. It's also Hawaii's newest tattoo shop. Located on Kamehameha Hwy in Kaneohe after King Windward Nissan, the shop is pretty easy to find. Look for the green building. When you walk into the shop you notice it's super clean and new, there is a comfy couch for clients to wait on. The artists books are out for you to look at, and the work space is in the back. The shop has clean restrooms out the back door and down the hallway. As for the artists at the shop, the owner @bobarlie does amazing work, everything I've ever seen by him has been crazy good, his realism is on par with the best. @keahi does great work too from what I've seen, anything from Polynesian to Asian. @tattoodvo seems to do some pretty cool flash work. All of these artists are great, but the reason to come to this shop is for @Laurentattoo , she is so talented, works clean, and fast. Both times she tattooed me she did it all freehand, which might sound scary to some but she is a master at this. I trust her completely. Everyone who has see the art Lauren has created for me is in awe. I've gotten nothing but compliments on her work, and she deserves it. I try to send everyone I can to go see Lauren, because I know they won't be disappointed. I can't wait to come back for more ink. I was referred to him & Black Moon Collective by a friend after I asked about her newest tattoo (turns out Keahi has done three of her tattoos). I had scheduled a session with an artist a month in advance and when I showed up for my appointment on a Friday, she looked at me confused and had no idea that she had me scheduled. Turns out that she had double booked me. She was very apologetic and asked to reschedule in which I was understanding since mistakes happen. I don't have a very open schedule but I was free the following Tuesday and she said that she could squeeze me in given that the tattoo I wanted was fairly small and simple. She then said that she would text me later to confirm. But later that day I texted her instead just so that there is no confusion again. And her response was that she wouldn't be able to tattoo me because her last day at the shop is Saturday and she's fully booked. This was info that she didn't mention to me in person! And then she proceeded to offer an apprentice to do my tattoo instead! I couldn't believe how unprofessional this was. This was her mistake and lies to me about being able to correct her error!
