810 Meadworks is one of my favorite stops in Medina. Having found a passion for mead at the Sterling Renaissance Festival, this wonderful place is my place. They have such a unique collection of meads, and cocktails, it is heaven in a glass. The bar is open and inviting, the staff always makes us feel welcome and take care of us. They have a great selection of items to compliment the mead, such as a delicious charcuterie board. Nothing like sipping some mead and eating some delicious meats and cheeses. They have also opened up an axe throwing range which is a lot of fun, and they even have a league. It is a true release of frustration and stress, plus really awesome to hear the bell ring when you get a bullseye. I have seen music performed there, and they always have different events. I highly recommend 810 to everyone!!! read more

Great service. Family friendly. My son entertained himself with a picture book and some wooden bees while I did a mead tasting. They have juice for children. The Maple Tap reminded me of German Christmas cookies because of the nutmeg. If I hadn't already purchased a similarly Christmas-y cinnamon mead elsewhere to pair with a holiday ham, this would have been a strong contender. The Cheeky Keen is blended with grapes so it's probably a good introduction to mead for wine drinkers. Sweet but not cloying. I also tried the Royal Squeeze with chili peppers. It had too much heat for me. If you've ever had the hot pepper wine at Niagara Landing (the closest comparison I have), this is hotter. However, I don't think I would have enjoyed the regular Royal Squeeze, either. I keep forgetting I dislike mango. I didn't have a chance to try their homemade chocolate, but I will be back to try that, along with more mead. Even though it's a little out of the way compared to most of the Niagara Wine Trail, it's a great venue and conveniently placed next to a cute coffee shop (Shirt Factory Café) so you can easily make a nice afternoon of it. read more

I discovered this Meadery while exploring the Medina area. Their tasting room is currently closed due to COVID, but you can get a flight of three meads to sample or purchase a glass to sip in their "Bee Garten" . They also offer Mead Slushees and Craft beer from various breweries. I opted for the Ginger Peach mead Slushee, $6, and my father ordered a Scotch Ale, also $6. The slushee was sweet and strong, as you would expect anything made with a mead would be! Because of Cuomo's rule, we also ordered a snack pack of cheese , cranberries, and nuts for $5 for nibbling. The Bee Garten was a cool atmosphere to sample the beer, with lots of old school jams playing. The owner gave us also a brief history of the building....before it was a meadery. it was a clothing manufacturer in the early 1900s with a small 8 room hotel inside. I am glad I came across this place, you can tell a lot of pride and hard work went into their business and their products. read more

My boyfriend and I did the Lockport Cave tour today and it was there that I picked up a booklet on agricultural and culinary stops around Niagara county. I was going to skip right over the wineries section but #1, 810 Meadworks, caught my eye. Considering my boyfriend loves Mead and the caves are only 25 minutes away, we made the trip. 810 Meadworks was a refreshing stop on this 90 degree day. There was lots of nearby free parking (considering it was a Saturday around 3pm) and a lot of other cute shops nearby. The entrance is shared with two other businesses but look for the beautiful blue doors and sign to welcome you. You'll walk past the Mead tanks and can peek at what they're making. Once you're in the tasting room, you can sit at the bar, on the couch, or in the desk chairs. Looks like it would be Gould for groups too. They also have a courtyard which they do Saturday outdoor concerts during the summer. We both got our own $5 tastings and split the $3 chocolate tasting. They make the chocolate too and have a different kind for each mead. You get three fairly large barks of rich chocolate, so I would recommend splitting with 1-2 people. You can also order mead by the glass, and they have cocktails as well. With all the varieties to chose from, I would recommend each person get their own tasting so you can try more of the meads. I would highly recommend visiting even if you have to make a special trip. Medina is a cute village filled with historical buildings... After the tasting we drove around the corner to see the giant apple then through the Erie Canal Culvert tunnel, which is the only tunnel that goes beneath the Erie Canal. read more

When out-of-town guests come visit, there are three places I like to take them to visit: Niagara Falls, the Erie Canal, and 810 Meadworks. Seriously, I've brought a good four or five out-of-state friends to this place, and they have all loved it! I don't have a lot of experience with meaderies. Or is it mead houses? Mead bars? Heck, whatever this place is, it's fantastic! But like I said, not much experience so I don't have a lot to compare it to. I can, however, compare it to a "typical" bar or a winery, and in that regard, this place is at the top of the list for me! You enter the door and are right away inside the distillery. It's not a big room, but it's very interesting to look at. A few steps later and you're in the very cozy bar. By cozy, I don't mean small. It's plenty big. Lots of seating! But it just feels warm and cozy and welcoming. Medina isn't too far away, so I don't want to make out like I drove over the river and through the woods to get here (oh Grandmother! Why can't you live *here*??). But it is a good hour away and there are other places much closer to where I live. Also, I did grow up in Medina, so there's that whole nostalgic thing for me as well. The first time I walked through the doors, I really just wanted to know what the heck is mead. I mean, I knew it was alcohol. There were mead halls in Beowulf (take THAT, Mr. College Professor whose name I may have forgotten, but did NOT forget there was mead in Beowulf!). Someone will gladly explain to you how all that works and what's going on in there. Probably some fermenting and stuff like that. I'm not positive. I think I asked, but I assume I didn't pay attention at the time because mostly I was interested in tasting it. If you're wondering, what is mead and what does it taste like, it really is a lot like wine. At least the stuff I've had is. There is some carbonated mead and some still mead. (I prefer the carbonated.) There are fruity flavors and other flavors. There are sweet ones and dry ones. They even have a mead that is more like a beer (I think that's the bee vomit one). Oh, speaking of bee vomit, they have bees too. In fact, they have a bee garden, also referred to as the bee garten (get it? like bier garten?). Clever, and really cool, because they use it to produce the honey they use for some of the meads. Be sure to stop in and try a mead tasting. It's typically three meads in a tasting, but you can add extras. And for an extra $5 bucks (I think it's five; maybe it's three. Don't quote me on the price), you can do the chocolate pairing. It is worth the extra money. And if you decide to go home with a bottle of mead (I went home with three after my first tasting), be sure to buy some of the chocolate to go with it. (Side note about the chocolate: this isn't some Hershey or even Godiva crap. This is homemade chocolate his wife develops to complement the taste of the meads. These chocolates are nothing you will find anywhere else!) read more

Beautiful space. Delicious meads. Friendly staff. My husband and I came here as part of our road trip through New York and we were so pleased with our experience. They have a variety of meads with fun flavors for a great price. Our favorite was the 21 Bean Salute, a coffee and vanilla bean infused mead. Very tasty! Other unique flavors include pear and cucumber/pineapple. The staff was very friendly. If we're ever back in the area we will definitely stop by again. If not, we'll order it online! read more

I am not a big drinker, but I still like this place. It has a nice and relaxed vibe about it. They have a good variety of mead from dry to sweet. I didn't pay attention enough attention until my last visit, but they serve food. Not full meals or anything, but enough to snack on. I got the cheese tray and it was pretty good. The maple bourbon fromage they have from First Light Farm and Creamery is AMAZING. I also did a chocolate tasting and that was great as well. I wouldn't drive the 25 minute it takes me to get here, but if I was in the area I would stop again. read more

A lot of fun at 810 Meadworks. Laid back place in the historic center of Medina. The prices were right and the staff helped pair all the tastings with different chocolates - $3 for three and add another $3 for three chocolates, you can't beat it. The wine / beer they serve is made form honey so it's kind of a hybrid. There were a lot of different forms (hot, spicy, carbonated etc) and ways to serve so we basically tried every type offered. This has got to be one of the most interesting places I've been to. They have the most lovely flavor selections of mead, ranging from dry to sweet. There are bottled selections and canned selections, as well as different canned beers. The idea of fermented honey as a beverage was wild to me, and it was such a treat to try. The flavor profile on these meads was complex and well put together. The owner was there when we had sat down, and had willingly explained his business with us as well as mead at large. He was very friendly, a personable guy, and very knowledgeable and passionate about his craft. This place has couches, a nice back patio for when it's nice out, and even chocolate pairings to go with your mead! The bartender was sweet and was also very well informed. We'll be making it a regular thing to visit this place, as should anyone within a couple of hours! read more

We've been meaning to trek over to Medina to try out 810 Meadworks basically since it opened, but just hadn't gotten around to it until Saturday, when my husband and I drove over to hear my cousin's band play as part of their concert series. Neither of us could remember having mead before, and we just didn't make trying it a priority. We're now kicking ourselves for two reasons: mead is awesome (at least, theirs is) and we'd been missing out, and we didn't buy a bottle to bring home with us. It was raining (for once this summer...), so the band had moved inside, and basically all we could do was order quickly between songs and sip them while the music played. We're looking forward to going again when it's more quiet to hear about how the mead is made, what they'd recommend, and pair the drinks with the yummy looking plates they had listed. We'd like to try the cocktails, too! I started with a trio of Liquid Sunshine (semi-sweet), Kremsicke (sweet) and Clinton's Folly (sweet). We'd just had dinner, so I was looking for something a little more dessert-oriented. None of them disappointed! Liquid Sunshine was carbonated and so refreshing-- it reminded me a bit of a really fine cider. Kremsicke and Clinton's Folly (named after the creator of the Erie Canal, not the first female president) were also both great, but it was Liquid Sunshine that I ordered again as a full glass. My husband went for a full glass of the 21-bean salute (semi-sweet), which he enjoyed. The decor is playful and fun-- the exposed ceiling and rustic bar pair well with upholstered couches and armchairs and clear plastic barstools and chairs. The beegarten outside (geddit?) is so cool-- all brick, wood, and bistro lights. We'd been there for a concert when it was a different business and it was raining then, too-- someday we are going to sit in that amazing outdoor space without getting wet! read more

810 Meadworks is a cool place in Medina. Inside there is an open room with a square bar where the drinks are ordered. They have an outdoor area called the Bee Garten where live music is occasionally played which is really cool...it has several nooks and a larger open area with some chairs. The mead is very good and there are so many of them! Our friends and my wife shared 2 beans walk into a barrel, I love gingers, liquid sunshine, 21 bean salute, my lady Rita, and experimental PB&J sandwich. They enjoyed them all and enjoyed their unique flavors but the favorite of the group was definitely the PB&J...we bought two bottles of it! I personally don't drink much else beyond beer so it was great to see they had some Rohrbach, Big Ditch and Southern Tier options! I had the Spiced Chai Tea Pumking and it was DELICIOUS! Definitely looking forward to the next time we can head out to Medina and go to 810 Meadworks again! read more

On a recent trip, the hubs, my son, and I decided to taste the local mead. Medina is a teeny tiny lil town...so we didn't expect much. We were expecting really sweet wine. This place is great! When you enter you walk through an area with the tanks used in production. In back there is a bar and comfy chairs to sit on. You can sample the meads, drink them by the glass, or purchase bottles to go. We sampled several delicious meads and enjoyed some small plates of snacks. The owner was even kind enough to pour my son a glass of juice. My son ended up playing DS in a comfy chair drinking juice and eating bread while the hubs and I sampled all the sweet nectar! At the end, we wanted to purchase everything...almost everything. He was out of several varieties! The owner was telling us that mead was flying off the shelves. I believe it. Next trip, I want to see the Bee Garden in the back. It looks like a cute spot to enjoy some mead, snacks, and conversation. read more

Fantastic mead! We stopped in while waiting for my parents on a Sunday early afternoon. Not much else going on in Medina, so we were thrilled to find this spot. Plenty of comfy seating and lots of room at the bar plus an awesome outdoor area. Live music on Saturday. We ordered 2 of the tastings (6 total to try). Highly recommend the 21 Bean Salute and the Royal Squeeze (try it with the chili peppers!!). 810 Meadworks is owned by a husband/wife team and Larissa happened to be there when we stopped. Very friendly and quick to help with all of our questions. We took home 2 bottles and my crazy parents went home with 6! We're already looking forward to our return up north in August and will definitely be making a stop here! read more

This place is so cool. I'm already looking forward to when I can go back! I came in with my friend yesterday and sampled several of their offerings. We were impressed with everything we tried. The ginger mead knocked my socks off, and the warmed up maple mead was like a fall dream in a glass. What a unique place, I've never been to a meadery before. I had such a fun time here. The bartender was really nice too. As a redhead, naturally I had to buy the I love gingers mead and matching tshirt :) I also picked up a couple of other bottles as gifts, which will make me the star of Christmas this year. I'm so excited to come back here soon to sample the other offerings - they have a lot! The tasting includes 3 samples. Dry to sweet, some sparkling, varieties with multiple fruits. What a gem to come by. My first experience with mead and I received a history lesson on mead while there from Brooke (amazing service). I sampled my mead with chocolate pairings. The chocolate is made in house, each chocolate full of flavors, everything was unique and worth every sip and taste. Made from local ingredients which I love and support! This place rocks. We were lucky enough to be able to get in before they closed and try a good handful of their offerings. If you like the occasional drink to sip on, and have never tried mead, then you need to get to 810 Meadworks. The owner was there bar tending and he was very nice, super informative, and personable upon our arrival. He took the time to figure out what we might like and make recommendations accordingly, and gather feedback from us afterwards on what we thought. Very genuine and caring. They offer a good variety of different meads, along with specialty and seasonal ones as well. They place offers a nice sized bar, and a great lounge area around some large coffee tables to come and enjoy with a large crowd. Complete with a small view of the operation and plaques explaining some steps in the brewing process, it was a pleasant and informative experience. It's not often you get to drink mead around this area so it was a delightful change of pace from the microbreweries that are often so prevalent. I would great prices for various tastings along with bottle prices and merch as well. I recommend taking the day trip out here and giving it a try sometimes as it itself is worth the trip. read more

Being a mead connoisseur since near its biblical inception, I can honestly say this meadery has placed a new standard upon the industry. The owner has the knowledge and desire to make this a franchise. I especially preferred the hot pepper variety that left a subtle taste to enjoy long after my visit. I will always set this as a preferred destination stop when I am on the NY wine trail. The overall atmosphere of the bar area and its patrons eminated the classiness one would find in a much larger city. I give 810 Meadworks five stars every day! read more
