Had a really enjoyable tasting of meads here! A flight comes with 4 meads, with almost 20 to choose from. Half are "still" which have a higher alcohol content, and half are "session" which are carbonated and served chilled. You can also get mead by the glass or purchase by the bottle and can to take home. The server was really friendly and the atmosphere was great too, with bar seating, table seating, and some outdoor seating too. Another one of the newer meaderies in WNY. Though I have yet to find a favorite, these are quality meads. I previously tried the Red Potion and something else at Merry Shelley. The red potion has strawberry, and it's the real fruit flavor, so it's more herbaceous than sugary sweet. Same for the Blue Potion I tried today (as a session, which is more like a honey beer than a honey wine), but it has blueberry and blackberry instead. I prefer mine on the sweeter (but not artificial) side. Definitely a matter of personal taste and not quality. I also tried the Screaming Wench as a session. It has raspberry and cranberry. More tart than sweet, so again, it's a matter of preference. The two stills I tried were Simplicity and Blueberry Fields. If the blueberry meads from other regional meaderies are two sweet for you, Blueberry Fields is a good alternative. I don't think Sweetness was on tap, so I'll need to try that one of these days. I've been here several times and have always enjoyed my experience. I have not been since they completed their remodel, but I look forward to seeing how they've updated the place since it's always had a great vibe. Along with the expansion, they've started offering events like live music, art classes and yoga. The staff is always friendly and available to help make recommendations if you aren't sure what you want. The mead itself is FANTASTIC! Whether you prefer something a little more sweet or dry, they have something for you. I highly recommend getting a flight to see what you like then getting a larger glass, or two, of your favorites! I've brought home several bottles to enjoy at home and to bring to special events. Red Potion and Blue Potion are two of my favorites. They are universally liked and make a great choice to bring to events. Peacemaker is also a great pick and Amy is another one I tend to always get in my flight. Definitely, definitely will be back. My husband and I arrived on Friday to find the place was packed, but in a fun way. Everyone was enjoying themselves and it seemed like most everyone had the same Groupon that we did. We got the final two spots at the bar and were instructed to write our four flight choices on a mini chalkboard. I really like this approach because then there's no question of what you're getting. The bartender was kind and patient with everyone, even though he was stretched thin by the attendance. However, who should arrive just then but Ken, the owner! I had never met him before, but had heard great things from my mom, Dot K. (she's reviewed the meadery as well). He not only remembered her, but introduced himself to my husband and me. He was so friendly and knowledgeable that I just knew I was in for a treat. Also, mead is my favorite beverage, so I was excited. My husband is normally not a fan of mead, but he really liked what he got. I loved my flight and the Red Potion mead that I got as a complimentary glass from the Groupon. We actually bought a whole bottle of it! I adore it here and can't wait to come back! It's a bit of a hike to West Seneca, but it's so worth it. I recommend this place to everyone! read more

As a person who never before enjoyed the taste of mead, I am overjoyed to say that I loved all of the mead that I sampled at Queen City Meadery, located in a strip plaza in West Seneca. Looking for something new and fun to do on a Thursday night, my husband suggested that we try a flight of mead samples at Queen City Meadery. Knowing how much my husband loves mead, I agreed to accompany him. When we walked in the door, Ken, one of the three friends who own the place, greeted us. Ken gave us a quick education about mead along with a little history of this "elixir of the gods." Produced from the mixture of honey, water and yeast, mead is the oldest alcoholic drink known to man. We were given a menu of the different meads that were available, and we decided to each try four different samples. As a palate cleanser, we were treated to a bowl of delicious dark chocolates. Ken was very knowledgeable and entertaining as he talked about how he and his two life-long friends and current business partners, decided to name the fourteen choices available. Some are named after wives: Amy, My Lil Mule, Screaming Wench, and Peacemaker. There is one named, "I Told You So," because it is 13% abv, and if you have more than one glass, well, you've been warned! This is a really cute little place where you can relax and enjoy some high quality adult beverages. There are tee shirts available to purchase, as well as an assortment of bottles of mead to take home. I highly recommend Queen City Meadery as a fun place to catch a BUZZ! read more

This was my first experience visiting a meadery and I'll definitely be back. They just opened and I learned about them through a Groupon deal. When my fiance and I got there, one of the owners greeted us and gave us a bit if history on mead and the options that they had available there. They have still or draft available, and we decided to try a few of both in the tasting that we did. Everything we had was delicious, and we ended up taking some mead home with us. The whole time, the owner was super attentive. He let us know they'll be coming out with new releases about once a month and we're already looking forward to coming back again to try something different! read more

I came here tonight with my best friend and I'll definitely be back. I've been to one other local meadery and I enjoyed it so I wanted to check this place out too. The customer service is excellent. The employee came over to let my friend and I know a bit about the meadery and to let us know pricing as far as flights or by glass. (A flight of four samples is $10 each. It's $6/glass. The price per bottle varies based on the variety. You can see the price per bottle on my photo.) Mead is an alcoholic beverage that's created by fermenting honey with water. I ended up buying two flights to sample. The first flight was 1 (Jolly Good), 2 (Simplicity), 7 (Red Potion), and 14 (Barrel of Monkeys.) My other flight was 9 (Admiral), 10 (Amy), 13 (I Told You So), and 6 (Even Steven.) The employee gave my friend and I some dark chocolate, he said it would pair well with some of the sweeter mead varieties. Most of the drinks were great. There is cool signage upon leaving the tasting room, on your way back to the restroom. From the restroom, on your way back to the tasting room, you can see where the mead is made. The employee had cool classic rock music on. My favorite tunes were the Led Zeppelin ones. Before I left, I bought a bottle of Simplicity. Everyone needs some of that, right? This is my favorite place to stop in on the weekend. It's so nice to finally have a nice little hang out spot near my house. There's not much in this part of town! The mead is delicious. My Precious is my go-to during the summer, and Barrel of Monkeys is great for cooler weather. The staff is great and their music selection is always on point! Definitely worth a visit. Visited this new spot this past Saturday, it's been open about a month. We had 2 flights of 4 samples each got $10 each flight. They currently have 8 offerings and they range from carbonated to still and had various fruit flavorings. All were exceptional and one of the owners, Ken, was very friendly and informative on the Mead brewing process. Great little place and the free chocolates to cleanse your palette were a great touch. Tried this place out on a whim. Purchased two tasting flights from Groupon. We were the only people in the place on a Thursday evening, but don't let that deter you. The bartender, Ken, was amazing! He shared with us his passion behind the meadery sharing facts behind the business. Such as the business is a hobby for him and his partners and he happily went into detail about each mead available. There was 16 meads available to try and a flight consisted of 4 meads. He was extremely hospitable in allowing us to have one extra tasting of another mead with no extra cost. My boyfriend and I ended up purchasing 3 bottles. Blue potion, Admiral, and Amy. Groupon came with a 10% discount for bottle purchases per tasting. This is a fantastic business and wonderful location that should be visited if looking for a new local establishment. I will definitely be returning! read more

My neighbor loves Mead so I went to Queen City Meadery the Sunday before Christmas to get him a gift. It is small but comfortable. There is a gorgeous dark wood bar and a few tables.The bartender was friendly and super helpful. I learned that he is an owner along with 2 of his long time friends. They are all local boys and have a background of entering Mead making contests and doing very well. They have different flavors that are brewed on premises. I got to sample a few from their brand new taps. I would suggest going if you're curious about Mead and if you love Mead then you'll love this place.
