I love mead so I was looking forward to trying this place but ended up disappointed. They have a large selection of different flavors of mead - but I didn't see any that were straight-up regular plain mead. Mead is delicious by itself without anything being added. I got the Horchata one (since that is also something I enjoy). The first sip was good, but the more I drank of it, the more it just tasted fake and flavored, and I did not finish it. Based on that one I wouldn't want to try others. The food menu is very limited. The pizza crust is very thin - more like a crackery flavor - and the pepperoni is only in a circle on the outside? So it's basically a cheese pizza until you get to the crust unless you want to reorganize the toppings yourself. Atmosphere varies - many times I have stopped by and it was standing-room only and very loud, and I left without making it up to the bar. This time I came early enough that I was able to get a seat. It feels very dark after coming in from outside. Staff is friendly. Decor is fun and bee-themed. Restrooms are easily accessible and all-gender. Overall it is a fun place to hang out but the food and drinks didn't do it for me. read more

I love mead so I dunno how this place has been around for five years without me finding out. It's a cute venue with several high top tables and a small bar. Some of their meads are made more like wine and served by the bottle. Others are made more like beer or cider and sold by the can. I prefer wine-like meads but tried a mix of both. You can order by the glass, but they also have a $12 flight of four generous pours. My favorite was the Bobby. It does taste a lot like bourbon as the description says. I also tried a couple berry meads, but I prefer more added sweetness. The color of the honeycomb indicates which is which - cool touch! They have a small food menu, and any cocktail can be made as a mocktail. Service is friendly. read more

Stopped in on a Wednesday evening to try some mead. The place is really cute and festively decorated for Christmas. My hubby and I sat at the bar so that we could talk to Ben, our bartender for the evening. Ben was very knowledgeable about the many different types of libation offered. I decided to order a Bourbon Apple Pie Sipper, a delicious warm drink. My husband had a Pumqueen Spice mead. It was tasty and served chilled. We decided to try a Bacon Arugula pizza drizzled with honey, and it was very good. Next, we tried the Cougar, a blend of beer and mead. We enjoyed that as well. Great spot to stop, hang out with friends and enjoy a huge variety of meades. This place is super cute, the bee and honey theme can be seen throughout the place from the mead list to the flight labels to the tables to the bathroom. Very well thought out and designed. The staff was friendly and they had a wide selection of meades with different tastes and attributes. I enjoyed my choice, but be aware it does sit a little heavier than some alcohols. I was tempted to get the flight but was glad I didn't, not because it wasn't good but because I'm not sure I could have drank so much. They did offer food, which looked good, but we didn't have time to order any. All in all this was a cool place, I would def be interested in stopping by when in Lancaster again. read more

Cool place located on the side of Lancaster village. They brew mead which is an alcoholic drink made of honey. It tastes alot like wine. There are several different mixtures they make to give you lots of different flavors. The bar area is very cool and I would highly recommend getting a flight so you can try 4 different kinds. They serve the flights on color coated coasters made to represent a bee hive. (I LOVE THIS!) Its a great setup for an Instagram photo! They frequently have live music on the weekends and there is plenty of outdoor seating. The service has been lack-luster the couple times I've been here. The one time we were sitting right at their small bar and yet the two ladies sat there and ignored us for 15 min after we very clearly chose our selection and tried to get their attention. We were the only people in the place besides one other table! I would recommend this place as a cool place to try. There aren't many meaderies in the area so it's something that I think everyone should try atleast once. read more

This was the first time we were here so we jumped right in! We didn't ask questions, we read the menu and basically decided what we thought sounded good and I think we chose right! They are on the sweet side but they are brewed with honey! It is a cool little place and a band was setting up when we arrived. They even gave us popcorn to munch on while we chatted. We stopped in during the day and it was quiet but it was a good opportunity to ask lots of questions about the meads and learn something new. We each ordered a tasting which comes with 4 generous pours of meads for $10. I really like that the titles of the meads are color coded and then served on those color pieces of paper, so I can keep track of what I'm tasting. My favorite meads were the Spi Cy and and H.A.P.P.Y., but everyone's tastes are different so I recommend trying one from each board. I highly recommend checking them out and giving them a chance even if you're not sure about mead. They also sell honey products. Will definitely be coming back! read more

Such a fun new experience! Lots of seating and awesome variety of beverages and food. They really took the time to explain to us all the different flavor profiles the mead can take on, some taste like beer, some like wine, and some even have a whiskey/bourbon profile. I loved the sugar cookie one and the lemon lime one. I was amazed by how clever they are too, when you order a flight they match the tiles with the flavors on the board so it's easy to remember what you got. A bag of their popcorn was a great snack, they season it with a yummy season salt. You can tell this place pays a lot of attention to detail and the love behind it, every table had real flowers! First time at a meadery; is that the word? It's a smallish place with a garage door that looks like it opens onto the sidewalk in nice weather. And I've never had mead because the word conjures an idea of a thick, sweet drink. Well, was I ever wrong. I had the Bee-lo and it was not thick or sweet. It was like a light ale tasting lightly of beeswax. The alcohol content is a bit more, and in some brews a lot more, than beer. The Bee-lo is a manageable 7.16% abv. And it is a straight mead made with honey, water and yeast. There are othets made with fruit or spices. There is live music Friday nights and the band playing on the night I visited was not too loud for the small room. There is is a handful of tables and seats at the bar to handle a decent crowd. All in all Lilly Belle Meads is a welcoming place. I'd stop in again on a music night if I was in the neighborhood. I only gave 4 stars because the only offering is mead. I'd like something else a little lower in alcohol, but that's just me. read more

I had a great visit at Lilly Belle Meads last night. I'm pretty new to meads. I knew it was a thing but other than that, I was clueless! The owners and other employees are all very friendly. They are great about taking their time explaining the differences between their selections. There is also the option of try a flight of meads for $10. As soon as I walked in I felt very welcomed. Although I had never had a mead before the bartender explained everything and recommended some excellent choices based on questions he had asked me. While I am a craft beer enthusiast and enjoy all types of beers I tend to lean towards IPAs but will definitely be back for some more great meads and TIL brewing beers. We really enjoyed our visit. It was fun paring our meads to the tasty small bites . The beer was enjoyable too . Not sure if the mead and beer definitely would have been more enjoyable had it been chilled. Not being a mead expert I'm not sure if it's meant to not to be chilled. The upper Basin which was delicious really needed to be colder it was basically room temperature. I was excited to try this place cause my cousins rave about the meadery in Lockport. We were very disappointed. I'm a big beer and wine drinker and these were nothing close to either. It tasted like drinking flat club soda with a very little flavor thrown in. We had to turn our backs several times because of the faces we were making after sampling these. Much of their selection is beer-like in terms of flavour & carbonation, though "Bobby" seems to be the most "traditional". (They offer flights, so I was able to sample a variety). The space is simple but relaxing, with friendly and attentive staff. Interestingly, you can also get the Bobby in a milkshake. And as a bonus, it's right near a high quality chocolate shop. Stopped in yesterday with my brother. The atmosphere was comfortable. We tried a few swarms (flights) of mead. Outstanding! A great mix of beer and wine styles. My two favorites were Bee Blue and Spi-cy. The Nutty Helen was also a standout. The owners were great and took the time to talk all about their products. We ended up buying 9 bottles of mead. What an awesome place! I absolute love what they have done with the space here. After you are done checking out the chocolate shop next door, you must stop by here for a quick drink. These beer inspired meads will have even the pickiest of beer drinkers finding something they enjoy. As someone who is not much of a beer drinker, I was pleasantly surprised in the craftsmanship brewed in to each individual mead. They stand strongly in between the classic sweet, or dry meads, and have a complex beer like notes to go along with it. It doesn't sway too far in either direction and it certainly gives mead a unique and very new perspective. The hours are a bit funky here, but be sure to stop by when they are having one of their open mics or other performances. The owners are super nice and if you show up on a quiet day, they are very open to talking about what they do and answering all your questions you may have. I stopped in with my friends to check out the meadery. This was our first time here and we were anxious to try the meads. I was not a fan of the meade I ordered which was a strawberry blueberry pear option, I believe. It tasted like it needed to be served on ice so I asked for some, and that made it a little better. My friends each got a flight and their meads were either a hit or miss. The popcorn was nice and fresh that they served. I imagine this place would be more lively when they have bands performing and the garage doors are open on a Saturday night. My favorite meade was the Crystal Blue Meth or something to that effect. I'm glad we checked it out, but I don't think we will become regulars. read more

This is a wonderful little find in Lancaster. The meads that are offered are absolutely superb. The staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable. Though I've had mead before at the NYS Renaissance Festival, the flavors that are available at Lilly Belle are incredibly unique. If you've never had mead before, this is the place to try it.
