Hello potential consumers I would like to give an update on how the interaction has been since my last review. It's now been approximately 3 weeks since my last review regarding my service with Kevin and believe it or not I'm still here waiting for him to install my lights that are supposedly finished. The last time he said he would do a mobile service out to me to install the lights in my car but that has not yet happened and today I receive a text message basically stating that since I gave him a low rating he will not be doing a mobile service anymore and now I have to be inconvenienced by having to drive to his shop in Northridge to get them installed during the week when most of us have to work. So the lack of customer service still continues and then he goes on to say that he won't do a mobile service because there is no guarantee that I won't erase my review and give him 5 stars!!!! What business owner tells a customer that and then he won't refund my money because he says he doesn't refund on custom work well then as an unsatisfied customer he needs to make good on his word and come out to me and make it right, maybe then I'll change my review but until such time I will keep informing the potential customers of what type of service you may run into with this guy. Until he comes out to me and fulfills his commitment to his customer I will continue to give him a 1 star rating. I'm sure after this message he'll be texting me again. This is the worst place to do business with online and the customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with in my life. Now I'm not one to request a service or talk bad about someone without providing the receipts but here are attached my contact that got no response till this day, my email that didn't get a reply, my Instagram messages that never got a reply and a promise of having them ready and the Facebook messages with some replies but ultimately ending in the same result, no response and flaking. I also called multiple times and left voicemails and no response. I also had a friend who previously ordered some and he ignored it. The service requested was a pair of headlights and provided the color and itching and here I am getting no responses. I was not requested a deposit or anything .This kind of service does not provide any kind of value in the market , where a customer orders something and there is no response. He also deliberately asked me to take down my post because of his poor reputation and I did but with no result. Too many chances with no proper service. Go somewhere else with your money. 0/10. I waited since December and nothing. You can see him messaging me from his personal account, and still no reply. There is no accountability. Cant hide the messages and receipts. There is still no attempt to fix the request to purchase new lights. read more

dropped off my lights for new lenses, after week parts were still not ordered. When I proceeded to pick up my lights, Edwin had lost my bulbs ballast and factory wiring harness that is discontinued. after he couldn't locate my parts he tried to pass off some random wires as my parts. Now he wont respond to my messages. I should have known better when I saw his absolute pig sty of a shop. read more

Background: Spent ~$1400 on two pairs of retrofits (Fit and RSX) in November 2023 - after being promised that the items would ship by first week of January, that quickly became February (Fit) and April (RSX) of 2024 by the time I received the lights. I didn't mind the long lead time, since I was waiting on other things to be done on the car anyways, however when I received the lights, the Fit ones seemed perfect, but the RSX ones ended up being incorrectly configured (no panamera halo) - I kinda shrugged it aside since that was not an additional charge option anyways. Fast forward 3 months (June 2024): The passenger side headlight on the Fit starts peeling/flaking - I send 818 a DM on Facebook, I wait about a week and no response, so I send an email - no response after 3 days. So I go ahead and make a post about my issue with the headlights on the Honda Fit groups on Facebook, immediately after I get a response from Kevin saying that the flaking is not his fault, but rather the fault of the housing supplier - Cool. Definitely not the response a customer would want to hear after spending a serious chunk of money. Total customer service disaster ensues as other members chime in with similar concerns with their headlights from 818 Retrofits. Kevin (owner of 818 Retrofits) starts blaming the individuals and myself for attacking and defaming his business. Buyer beware. This company does not stand behind their products and will do everything in their power to make the customer feel like the problem rather than simply fix their faulty products. If this was a BBB accredited business I would definitely be filing a complaint, but since it isn't, I hope this review will protect future potential buyers from making the same mistake I did. Edit: The owner has responded saying he was offering a remedy, but that remedy came with a lot of strings attached. Which included deleting all negative reviews and posts. I feel like this is unethical. It is also not guaranteed that the remedy will last me more than three months as nothing has changed in the quality. read more

Full Disclaimer: 818 Retrofits did not build my headlights, nor was my issue on the inside of the housing. I have a 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 with aftermarket headlights built by someone else. Recently I've encountered my driver-side headlight going out on bumps and my halo flickering/shorting out. I've taken my car to multiple people; I had suggestions from bad ballast to faulty wiring. Unfortunately, the shop's solution was to replace the entire unit. After searching the local shops, I finally found 818 Retrofits. I called Kevin, who was pleasant, but knowing that no one likes fixing other people's work, Kevin took me on as a client. However, with Kevin, I can instantly tell he had his wheels turning and knew it was something fixable. On the day of my appointment, Kevin jumped right in and started diagnosing my issue. He knew within a few minutes that it was the stock harness for my headlight issue. To his knowledge, Kevin said this was due to my previous aftermarket HIDs melting the inside to cause a poor connection. He cut and replaced the socket in under a minute, and my headlight worked as intended. The halo was a bit more time-consuming, but Kevin was relentless and was able to fix it. After everything was up and running, Kevin suggested seeing if my headlight were aligned correctly, which I never thought to check. Kevin aligned them to the correct height and clocked my bulb because it was seated in the housing incorrectly. I also didn't know this. I was in disbelief that I was missing that much visibility with my alignment. Again, Kevin did everything in a little over an hour. Kevin is patient, knowledgeable, and polite. He not only cares about his quality of work but the overall safety of his clients. Call him if you have issues or need an upgrade to your headlights. You won't be disappointed. A bit late to this review and noticed it in my drafts but hopefully this gives perspective of doing the headlights a year later. I brought my 23year old tacoma to Kevin since I felt the lights weren't bright enough and looked very dated. I notified Kevin of the make/model of my vehicle and he ordered the set of headlights in which he would install his bulbs in. The new set looks very oem, bright/leveled and professional. Please see before/after pics. The whole installation was maybe 2ish hours and tested in a near by garage. A year later the lights have worked flawlessly with no issues. Big upgrade and again very professional as if the car came from the factory with headlights like this (which is what I was aiming for). Got a pair of retrofitted headlights from OSS designs and my drivers side lense started falling apart. OSS designs did not honor their warranty and I ended up finding Kevin from yelp. While his prices are a bit on the expensive side he does quality work and he cares about his craft. Tbh the headlight he repaired looks way better than the passenger side in terms of vision, cleanliness, and build.
