Best sandwich shop in Franklin. Service is over the counter. It looks and feels like an old time sandwich shop (pre the fast food craze).

We had breakfast today at the 828 near Terrel Rd. We are visiting family from Berkeley CA and would rate this place very high. We had chicken and waffles (perfect with added guava sauce), avo toast with everything bagel sprinkles (fresh and delicious), waffle and homemade sausage (the best) and extremely good coffee. The artwork drew us in, the ambiance, food, and service will bring us back. We were visit family in the area, and drove by this beautifully adorned cafe. There were 5 of us and it was very quick to order at the counter - a wide array of breakfast options with plenty of Latin American flair, which was perfect for us. We had the croissant sandwich with bacon, eggs, and French toast, the guava French toast, and more than I can recall now, but I snapped a few pics before it all disappeared - every bite was delicious. One of the employees, I believe it was Mariana, but it was hard to hear clearly with the hubbub of this local favorite. Decent food for Franklin but the line to order gets insane and you may end up standing outside in the heat on a summer day. It is so hard to see the lunch menu from the line which is placed on the far right side of the wall behind the cash register. Staff doesn't 86 items or tell you when something is out which happens often and you may wait in line for 20 minutes just to get up to order and they don't have certain items. This is one of the few places in town to get vegetarian food and if they could work out these few kinks we would probably go more often. read more

Their menu is incredible, and after enjoying our delicious breakfast, I wish I could stay here a week to try a new breakfast and lunch every day! Prices are reasonable for this day and age, especially for the quality and amount you get. They have so many options, including Açaí breakfast bowls of delicious fresh fruit (peanut butter addition is a fun twist!), locally sourced meat for the proteins, delicious and airy fresh baked bread & pastries, wonderful in-house coffee blends, local kombucha and a variety of fresh teas, and we didn't even get to try their lunch menu, which looks insane! The food at brunch was very good indeed, great guava French toast, sausage, and small side of fresh fruit. Their iced tea (unsweetend, in my case, sweetend for my friend) was great, as well. And the atmosphere is fun, simple, has both indoor and outdoor seating and is very welcoming--as is a helpful staff who also were very careful regarding health precautions germane to the Covid-19 situation. However, one glaring problem: despite being located on the Little Tennessee River Greenway--a very popular trail with cyclists--there was no place to chain up your bike! No bike rack, nothing. Not even a handy street sign or anything useful at all. And the logo for 828 Café is even a bear riding a bike! You are right on a bike trail, have a bike in your logo, and yet no bike rack? I don't get it. Aside from needing a bike rack however, it's a charming place with good brunch dishes. read more

We just ate here for the first time for breakfast and we LOVED IT! We got a veggie breakfast bowl and a Mexican breakfast bowl, and we each got a cold brew coffee. Both bowls were delicious! The house potatoes were perfectly crispy and the bowls were so flavorful, balanced, and filling. The cold brew was strong and yummy, and they have basic syrup flavors you can add. We've eaten here multiple times and the food is always good. Today for breakfast I had the guava french toast with extra guava syrup, two eggs and bacon, an apple turnover and a glass of OJ. My wife got the breakfast bowl and I got to finish her potatoes, bacon and one of her eggs. Every time we've been the food has been consistently good. This morning a couple invited us to sit with them and were kind enough to share a blueberry lemon cookie which was also really yummy. Good food in a convenient location. read more

What a delightful little cafe in downtown Franklin. Outside you are greeted by the most adorable mural of a large brown bear which goes along nicely with the mountain scenery. Inside is a adorable cafe that sits around 50 or so. The menu is breakfast and lunch with a Mexican flare and all healthy and organic ingredients. I had the classic breakfast bowl with eggs, potatoes, sausage, onions, peppers and cheese. It was delicious and a nice portion. My friend had French toast on homemade bread which was delightful.
