Accommodating, helpful and very friendly staff. We bought some fresh oysters down east but hadn't thought of the oyster knife. Asked the manager if, by chance we could possibly borrow an oyster knife? Well, due to liability issues, they would not allow me to borrow the knife but offered to have the chef shuck them for us (after signing a waiver!.....I hate where our country is, but totally understand!). We listened to live piano to relax us during a raining and "trafficy" day driving from down east and Acadia national park. Just one mile down the road from Walker's point (The Bush compound) I was really hoping that we might run into 'W' and Mrs. but to no avail. The room was well appointed and a corner room with beautiful views of the chanel. Picture commercial lobster boats moored at bouys as the tides rise and fall with the hours going by. A rainy day to start lead to clear skies and a beautiful bluebird sky with white puffy clouds to accent. Breakfast buffet included in the stay along with free bikes to use as guest made our stay complete. I only wish we had more time to spend here at the resort! Huge thanks for making our stay complete and fabulous!! Cheers to you all. Oh, I almost forgot, they have a shuttle that runs out to dock square every half hour. What a blessing.

The customer service, cleanliness, attentiveness and responsiveness to our needs and requests was top notch! The rooms were clean and spacious, the food was excellent, and the over-all atmosphere was warm and inviting. There were activities on site for the kids, they played soccer in the open area, as well as sat by the fire pits in the evenings. There was a floating sauna, lobster boat, kayaks, and bikes that could be used around the area. Shuttle service was also offered to take people into town and back which was a nice bonus. Housekeeping was great and can I say the towels were so soft! I can't say enough good things and would highly recommend this resort! Thank you to the Nonantum team for taking such great care of our group!

The inn has lots of large but cozy rooms open to the guests. Just a lovely place. My only little complaint was the pillows. But pillows are a tough one to get right.

Plus, it was a bit noisy at 7am -I could hear the people on the floor above me using the bathroom and creaking floors when they walked; I could also hear them putting out breakfast in the sunroom below with the clanging of the dishes and the doors closing. If you prefer to stay at a bed-and-breakfast, then this might be a good place for you. The house was nicely furnished; my Junior suite was clean and fairly comfortable (although for some odd reason, the furniture was unusually low to the ground), and it was interesting from a historical perspective. It just really wasn't my style. One last FYI if you decide to stay there - there's no yard or street signage at any of the houses except the Nathaniel Lord Mansion - I drove around in circles looking for the Jefferds house.....

You're going to slog your luggage to your room yourself, perhaps in the rain or snow, from the parking lot, and most likely up a flight or, heaven forbid you booked one of the rooms on the third floor, up 2 flights of stairs. There always appeared to be just one staff person at the hotel, handling the front desk. The inn is very convenient to dock square. We only drove to dinner one night, the rest of the stay we had quite nice meals within a block or so of the hotel. We stayed in the perkins suite on the second floor. Nice sized room. Roomy bathroom, good shower, decent counter space and several drawers. Felt clean and new, like it had been remodeled not long ago. You knew you were in an older hotel, but the room was clean and well kept. Comfortable seating in front of the TV. They've upgraded to a larger TV than shows on many pictures. It was easy to pull out from the wall and switch out the hotel cable feed for our own streaming device. Plenty of convenient outlets. Good sized fridge. Bed comfortable and room can be kept reasonably dark and cold. A small missed opportunity not having a few more pieces of furniture in the room. There was plenty of available space where they could have put a small desk for working, a bench at the foot of the bed, or a floor lamp for evening lighting. All of these would have not crowded the room and would have made the stay more pleasant. Continental breakfast provided is very basic. If you want to be in the midst of Kennebunkport action, it's a good place to stay. But there are many other great options in the area, and the lack of service, especially around help with check in/out is enough to prevent us from ever returning.

The first room was claustrophobic ( very small ) We didn't eat there but that was just because of the mindset created by the lack of cleanliness throughout the rest of the building! I would bet they haven't vacuumed or swept in a month? We stayed only after she upgraded our room but boy was it sad! Surprisingly there were a few other guests that I guess were ok?? Who knows, don't stay here unless the rest are full! So much potential???

She was full of recommendations (i.e. Goose Rocks Beach) and was friendly and kind without being overbearing. We showed up a bit late and the key was left in a coded lock box for us. The room was compact, but fine for my husband and I for our 2 night stay. We knew beforehand that breakfast would be boxed for us and that was fine. I was happy that they provided yogurt was Chobani and actually had some protein in it (unlike most continental breakfasts that are a carb party). We rented bikes and kayaks during our stay. It was great that they had these for us to utilize. The bikes should be covered during storage, however. They were a bit rusty. This was the priciest place that we stayed during our 7 night trip, but I wouldn't consider it the best. After our stay, I do feel that our stay should not have cost us so much.

The room was beautiful and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The room was a little tight on space and the toilet is right next to the door so is a little awkward. Modern power plugs convenient to the bed were not in evidence. There was a sitting chair but no where to sit and eat or to work. The desk folks were very nice and helpful with local suggestions for eating and things to do. ***VERY not happy with the continental breakfast. You shouldn't list yourself as a B&B and have continental breakfast. Being a B&B implies hot breakfast... period!*** Not only that, there was hardly anything on it... there was only orange juice, coffee, and tea... no apple or any other kind of juice. There was yogurt and fruit but there was only one kind of cereal (Cheerios), only 2 kinds of bread... white and wheat... No pastries, muffins, bagels, croissants, rolls, English muffins, doughnuts, etc. To be fair, I think there was oatmeal and there was banana bread that was pretty good. The one good thing I can say about the breakfast is that it was available at 7:30am instead of 8:30 like some of the other B&Bs we stayed at on this trip. ***Almost all of the other reviews of this place had HOT breakfast on them so I guess we were just ripped off.*** I would love to give this place a great review and I would probably have come back if it weren't for the breakfast ripoff.

All of the staff were really working hard to make things nice. I had a particularly nice conversation with Brenda. She took such pride in her work not to mention the hotel itself. Certainly made me feel welcome. You have to understand this is 100+ year old building. If you were looking for super modern amenities and a big screen TV in your room this is not your spot. But if you're looking for a classic grande style hotel, with a comfortable room and turn of the century charm. This is the spot. The location is right across from the bluff. Our room was missing several items that I had to ask for, the bathroom sink was clogged (took 2 days before someone fixed it) housekeeping didn't make up our room after we were gone for over 6 hours. It was over 90 degrees out and with no AC our linens needed to be changed but we ended up having to sleep on those dirty sheets because they never made up the room. Mold on the shower curtain, 1 kleenex left fluffed in the empty box, ran out of pool towels for almost 2 hours, ran out of dishes at the buffet, no more linens on the tables, our silverware and glasses stuck to the table, We were booked and charged for a "Garden View" room....it should have been listed as "Standard" there was no garden it overlooked an overflow lot filled with dumpsters, tents and garbage. The screens were absolutely disgustingly dirty and because it was so hot you had to keep them open so the dirt and dead bugs flew into the room. The wicker furniture on the beautiful porch was showing significant signs of wear and needed to be either replaced or repainted. This is only a piece of what went wrong in one weekend. I am not one to leave bad reviews like this but when I tried to contact the Asst. Mngr. Leslie Sheppard 3 times by phone and John Martin, Managing Partner for Boughton Hotels with no return call or email....well that speaks volumes. They are under new management and it was made clear this past weekend that they are in it to make money at the expense of their guests. On July 3 at 6PM the lobby was filled with people who could not get into their rooms yet after checking in. There was a constant line of guests waiting to speak with the Front Desk Manager with complaints. It was a disaster of a weekend. I was told they were very busy....not sure if the 4th of July was a surprise to them or if no one saw how many guests they had at their property. "Very busy" is not an excuse for such an establishment. I did speak with both the Front Desk Manager and Assistant Manager but nothing was done, I was told "I'm sorry", that doesn't make things better! They need to realign their priorities because a happy guest brings more guests a guest who had to experience all the things we did, for the price we paid, they should at least have the courtesy to return a call or email. If they did I wouldn't be writing this horrible review.
