This bakery has some of the most legitimately delicious bread I've ever had, and it's become a mandatory stop whenever I find myself in Niles. No matter how many times I visit, I always end up finding something new that catches my eye. Between the incredible selection of breads, pastries, and drinks, it's nearly impossible to leave empty-handed. One of the things I love most about this place is the variety of bread flavors they offer. Whether you're in the mood for something sweet, savory, classic, or unique, there always seems to be a fresh batch coming out of the oven. The bread always tastes incredibly fresh, whether you're eating it immediately there or in the car or saving some for breakfast the next morning. The drinks deserve recognition too. They're consistently good, surprisingly affordable, and pair perfectly with whatever baked goods you decide to bring home. My go to drink here is the jasmine milk tea with 50% sugar and light ice. It's rare to find a place where the quality is this high while the prices remain so reasonable. I've tried a variety of their drinks over the years, and they've yet to disappoint. I was so happy they finally opened an 85 Degrees bakery here in the Midwest because I would always visit this place when I visit the West Coast. If you're a bread lover, this bakery is absolutely worth the trip. We initially were going to a different bakery/cafe but when we realized it was in H-Mart, we wanted to go somewhere that was more comfortable. We were meeting our daughter and this was a convenient location. 85 C was in the same parking lot as H-Mart so we changed our plans. They are laid out like other Korean Bakeries. They have a very nice selection of sweet and savory pastries, bubble teas, coffees, milk teas, regular teas and more. I simply had an iced tea. At our table we also had one bubble tea and one latte. My partner and daughter also had pastries. I don't eat them but was told they were very good. They don't have a whole lot of seats but we were fortunate to get a table right away. Wow! Welcome 85 degrees to Illinois. I was actually surprised they made it over here! I've been coming to 85 degrees bakery back in Cali and then NV. 85 degrees is orginally based in Taiwan. They opened their first US location in Irvine CA back in 2008. There use to be lines out the door at that location and it was my fav place to go to whenever I was at Cali! The pastries were so fresh and drinks were so good! At this location, they also make thier pastries here fresh as well! My favorite is the milk and taro bun! Some other pastries can be too sweet for me! I like the texture of their breads too with how soft and fluffy it can be. I don't ever find the pastries to be dry! I got the red grapefruit drink which was a bit too sweet for me even when I asked for no sweet but it was decent and refreshing. 85 degrees is known for their perfect temp coffee! Waited for the hype to die down and finally got around to visiting! Located in the same plaza as Super Hmart in Niles. I came Friday morning around 10am and it wasn't super busy with lots of pastries left. I don't how busy it gets on the weekend but I heard they sellout fast. As you walk in, pastries are to your left and the cafe is to your right. There are 2 kiosks right when you enter to order drinks from the cafe. After you order a drink, grab a tray and shop around! Very impressed with the selection of bakery choices they have to offer. The drinks are also good and I tried the Vietnamese coffee with boba although the boba took 30mins to cook cause they ran out.my favorite bun is Hokkaido bun, the cream was light, perfectly sweetened, bun is fluffy. My other favorite is the ube bread. Didn't have a chance to try ube mochi bread but will definitely visit again. We came a bit later in the day and they were running out of things and on a Saturday it does get a bit hectic. When we walked in there were lines everywhere and people were grabbing things like their lives depended on it. We got a few pastries to try along with a Vietnamese coffee and mango green tea. Both of which were delicious and we would recommend. I think there just needs to be some organization and perhaps signage to tell people where to get their drinks and wait, and where to order. Prices are a little high tho. 3.65 for something similar to a cheese danish, its 2026 but still can't justify that price for a 3 inch circular pastry which weighs about half an ounce. Also got the vietnamese coffee. This is why I'm leaving 2 stars: The entire cup was FULL of ice. I mean it mustve been a 16 ounce cup or something, and you get maybe 6 ounces of coffee. I tried the Zebra Oolong Milk Tea, but it was way too sweet for my taste. Convenient if you're passing through the city, but the menu and flavors didn't quite live up to the hype for me. Despite an abundance of nearby Asian Bakeries (Tous Les Jours, Paris Baguette, etc.) in the area, I was excited to see this 85 C location open. Maybe because of great experiences on the west coast, Kansas, and Asia with this spot -- but also maybe because the options are a bit different from the French style asian bakeries nearby (and Hong Kong style in Chinatown). This location did not disappoint with an attractive looking interior, plenty of choices, friendly service and lots of parking. It's hard to go wrong with anything you order here. The pastries are always good but the cakes and other desserts in the case are my favorite for a special treat. These are made with quality ingredients and are a bit lighter in flavor and less sweet than western style bakeries, which is balanced by great presentation and refined flavors. Overall worth a special trip if you're a fan of Asian style bakeries. As of this writing, the only two other spots "nearby" to enjoy these treats is Overland Park, Kansas and soon Blaine, Minnesota. Always love this renowned Taiwanese bakery and café chain, and I was thrilled when it opened in Chicago! I've been to that block for H Mart and boba before, and it definitely wasn't there back then, so it was such a nice surprise! When my boyfriend and I arrived, we grabbed a table right away since there were only a few available. Then we started picking out our bakery items -- both savory and sweet -- including bread, a croissant, and egg tarts. We tried some of them on the spot, and they tasted authentic to me (I'm Taiwanese). I also ordered iced coffee from the kiosk. We got the 85°C coffee and the pumpkin matcha oat milk latte, and both were excellent. The 85°C coffee had a stronger, more intense coffee flavor, while the pumpkin latte was rich and delicious. We really enjoyed the bakery items and drinks. The only downside is that they don't offer guest Wi-Fi, so we couldn't stay to get work done. I've been to this nice cafe a few times already, but just now writing a review. I love that you can see what ingredients they use on their website. Just in case you have any dietary restrictions. It's always clean and the people are always nice and helpful. The pastries are amazing, the coffee/matcha are delicious, and the service is wonderful. Popped in to 85C Bakery hoping to kill some time in my day between errands. The parking lot is shared but large and there were plenty of parking spots, although it is a busy plaza. The store front is in a strip mall but with easy signage and big windows. Walking in, the set up was a little confusing to me as a first timer. There are counters with trays with individually wrapped pastries. There are also a couple of kiosks to self-order. I grabbed one strawberry flavored sweet bread type pastry and waited in line to order a drink at the counter. Staff were friendly and helpful. I ordered a strawberry matcha latte which only comes in a large size (which they ask if this is okay and I confirmed). The drinks come out from a large counter to the right and were relatively fast. The strawberry matcha was delicious and easily one of the best in town. The strawberry sweet bun was fresh and moist, it was very rich and I couldn't finish it but did enjoy it. There are only three tables in the cafe, and they all had patrons seated while I was there, so unfortunately it I ate in my car and it was not a stop that helped me waste a little bit of time in my day. Good to know this is a great spot for swinging in and out and grabbing a treat but not a good place to rely on needing a seat, sitting to work, casually hanging out reading with your drink, etc. because there is just not enough space. This was our first visit to the Niles location. We've been to the Vegas location several times. The Niles selection is definitely smaller than Vegas and I was disappointed that they did not have some of our favorites such as Boroh Danish, milk flakey pastry, and pineapple cakes. However, they did have our girls' favorites - the choco bun and cocoa-dipped Danish. We tried a few items for the first time - walnut raisin multi-bread, ube bun, and Hokkaido cheese tart. Everything was enjoyable. In addition we also tried the sea salt caramel coffee in both hot and cold versions because there was a BOGO free deal on their app. We prefer the cold because it was not as sweet. I found 85°C Bakery Café on Yelp, and was intrigued by the enthusiasm and excitement of fellow Yelp Elites in the newly opened business in Niles. Last Sunday (July 20, 2025, 3 weeks after their grand opening), I was in the area, so I decided to pay 85°C Bakery Café a visit, as I like the kinds of bread and drinks that the café carries. It was at 4:30 pm, so I was prepared that inventory could be limited, as I have learnt from reading Yelp reviews. I was greeted by the sign on the front door reading "We are done producing bread for today! Thank you and we look forward to seeing you next time." As a curious Yelp Elite, I was not going to be deterred by the sign, haha. I walked in the bakery café, and found that it was still bustling. Good thing that the store is very spacious. The bread shelves along the front window were completely empty, and there was the same sign. Then, it was a nice surprise that there was still something left, though not many, on the shelves along the adjacent wall, which also had the same sign. I was able to grab 2 Jumbo Coconut Strudel, a Spinach Danish, and a Coconut Milk Bun. There were still 4 to 5 Walnut Raisin Multigrain bread left. While I pondered a second if I wanted to get one, as they were very big, a mother and daughter team just swiped the whole tray empty. So, you really have to act fast! On their Yelp page, 85°C Bakery Café states that it "specializes in fresh bread baked every hour". There were still 3.5 hours until closing at 8:00 pm, but the "done producing bread" signs were already posted everywhere. Wouldn't it be nice if they can keep their promise? If they can keep up their supply with the demand, this bakery café must be so phenomenal! As a brand-new business, they already had a huge fan base. Almost no one had complained about their quality or pricing. The only complaints were about empty shelves or limited choices of bread. I also got a large Taro Lavender Latte (a creamy latte with steamed milk, taro and a hint of lavender topped with their classic sea salt cream). Both of their kiosks for ordering drinks were out-of-order, but the drinks could be ordered at the cashiers. The cashier whom I encountered was very friendly and helpful. The wait for the drink was not long, and it was delicious as expected. I appreciate that the 85°C Bakery Café website provides a description, ingredients, and nutritional info on every product and drink. While I love my large Taro Lavender Latte, I later learnt that it has 460 calories, 20 g of fat (31% daily value), 14 g saturated fat (70% daily value), 75 mg cholesterol (25% daily value), and 50 g of sugar! So, I would treat it as a special treat instead of an addicting drink that I would drink very often. Also, my suggestion is: go there early in the day, hopefully there is a bigger inventory to choose from, and you have more time to enjoy your bread, pastry, and drink in the same day. I would buy what I can finish in a day or two. On each of their plastic bread bag, there is an advice printed - "For best quality, please consume as soon as possible after purchase." When I went home it was already dinner time, I could only eat half of a Jumbo Coconut Strudel and a quarter of a Coconut Milk Bun as late-night snacks. The Jumbo Coconut Strudel (a crispy and flaky puff pastry filled with Coconut puree and cream cheese topped with crystal sugar) was fantastic. However, even with a hot oven, it could only bring back 40% of the quality the next day. I will return and visit early in the day. Hope that there will be some Marble Taro (their top seller), Red Bean Bread, and Mango Custard Bun available next time. read more

So I came at opening time to 85 C Bakery, and it was already quite crowded. I placed an order for Iced Sea Salt Caramel coffee at the kiosk, then grabbed a tray. I noticed several items were out and people were filling their trays with anything. I was being selective at first, then realized I should probably get one of everything too. Occasionally, they would shout out "fresh bread" and bring out fresh offerings and everyone would look excitedly to see what came out. This is the soft opening? I wonder what the Grand Opening this weekend will be like? My Sea Salt coffee was good (we have been experimenting adding salt to the office coffee brewer), though it was a bit sweet. The 85 degrees C refers to the ideal temp for brewing espresso. I would like to try the sea salt coffee without the caramel or a sea salt matcha latte. I don't quite know everything I bought but I look forward to trying it all and going back to try other items -- like a chocolate chip bowl or a cruffin or salted bread and butter -- so many tempting things. We came for the grand opening and it was insane. The line was so long haha and it was so hot. But they had a lion and dragon dance that was so fun--a booth was set up with music and goodies if you made a purchase. We went crazy and nearly got one of everything. Just wish this location had more savory selections--we missed some of the usual ones from other cities. Also, no potats! I think we usually get them when we were in other states, but didn't see them here. I will say the taro bun was probably the most generously filled bao--it came out fresh and was so good. The chocobun is less sweet than you'd think and the cookie top is really fun! The milk pudding bao filling was so silky--yum! Cheese bao had a cheesy filling too and our kid liked it a lot. 85 Degrees is always a staple, and their pastry is pretty delicious. It's different than, say, a crisp croissant, but their buns are often pillowy soft with delicious fillings. One of my favorites has to be their guava filled pastry (although I do think the bread to filling ratio is slightly off sometimes, leading to a more bready, dry bite). I appreciate the convenience of ordering drinks at the kiosk and getting a number which separates drink orders from the pastry ordering line easily. I enjoyed a Vietnamese coffee the last time I went, and it was deliciously sweet and bold with blenty of ice. My order also came out really quickly despite it being a super busy Saturday morning. My only reservation about this location is that they often sell out or have limited quantity of different pastries pretty quickly. We've gone at different times, and it didn't seem to matter -- the pastries we really wanted were always gone by the time we arrived. I'm not sure if certain people just order a ton really early, but this is my main disappointment when choosing what to get here. There's still a ton of red bean, almond, and chocolate flavored standard items, but if you're looking for a seasonal flavor, it might be hit or miss. Given the volume of people, there's also just not enough seating. I think most people get orders to go, but if you're hoping for a seat, it might be a little tough with only around three or so tables by the windows. read more

I have many good things to say about 85°C bakery Café Niles. First of all their breads are so fresh and extremely tasty. They have options if you have a sweet tooth and savory options for a more filling serving. They also make a variety of different cakes, which look amazing and I'm sure it tastes great. I didn't try the cakes this time around, but I did order a chocolate chip bowl. You can order one of two ways either through the touchscreen if you're looking to purchase a drink or directly at the counter where they could take your orders as well as pay. They have a variety of drinks as well, which are fairly competitively priced give good options for both coffee and teas and add the tasty drinks such as bubble tea in the lake as well. There's not too much of a seating area because this place is more of a order and go type of establishment. My husband surprised me when he came home with desserts from 85C Bakery Cafe. He brought me an Oreo mousse cup and a Ferraro Roche mousse cup. There desserts are very rich. Just the way I like it. The Ferrero Roche cup had dark chocolate mousse and three Ferrero Roche treats on top. This was very good. The Oreo mousse cup was very messy. Oreo crumbs got everywhere, all over my kitchen!!! I'm not gonna try to list the many different breads we purchased among the limited selection available but the ones we immediately tried such as pork sung and premium milk were very good - satisfying chew, not dry. Delicious with my sea salt cream coffee. However, pretty sure they got my friend's salted caramel coffee wrong because it just tasted of coffee, not even as sweet as original salted coffee. Visited 85°C Bakery recently and was disappointed with the customer service. The inventory was already pretty limited, but what made the experience uncomfortable was the way the staff handled a small mistake. While choosing bread, I switched one item and accidentally left another bread in a different spot instead of putting it back right away. I understand that I should have returned it properly. However, while I was paying, the cashier left to get the bread, then came back and told the other cashier about it while glaring at me. I completely understand employees wanting customers to keep things organized, but the attitude felt unnecessary for such a minor situation. I still remember when it first opened back in June--things ran out immediately, shelves were often empty, and the negative reviews and photos online reflected exactly what I personally experienced. I didn't bother leaving a review then because it's understandable that new businesses can struggle to keep up with overwhelming demand. I stopped going there after several disappointing visits and told myself one last try! My most recent visit was in mid-Sept, and I was surprised to see some improvement. The shelves were about 70-75% stocked, which was a good sign. They also didn't run out of mango drinks this time. In the past, they were often out of mango by noon, which was frustrating and confusing--probably due to shipment issues or poor planning. I ordered a zebra oolong drink, which the staff explained includes both regular brown boba and crystal boba. What they didn't mention was that the crystal boba comes in broken, uneven pieces that aren't chewy, which I personally don't enjoy. I wish they had clarified that beforehand. Additionally, the drink wasn't filled to the top--there was nearly an inch of space left, which made it feel a bit skimpy.
