Very disappointing experience. Susan just wants to fit as many jobs as she can and is sacrificing the quality. Two of us went there for haircut, and keratin treatment yesterday. The haircut couldn't be more horrible and far from the picture we showed, not only that, the washing and styling was such a lousy job. She applied the keratin without washing the hair with clarifying shampoo. Which is a must for the product she used, to finish quicker.The after care instruction was also off. Thanks to google Gemeni I could find the right details myself. The salon is not clean, hair is everywhere on the floor , we were the first clients in the morning. Very messy and disorganized. Part 1: Facility and Management - specifically during COVID partial opening The location of this salon is great, especially considering the current COVID situation. They can open their windows and let the air flow, so the interior air is not captured. The facility itself is a bit old, but still do-able. To enforce social distancing, they have marked off half of their chairs. The staff is rotating in, such that each are working 3 days. To manage air flow, they are minimizing blow drying; this part was a surprise to me. Expect to seat under the air-blower to dry your hair. Unlike one of the other comments, my stylist did wash my hair, and I saw other customers having their hair washed too. Part 2: Stylist My stylist at this location is actually someone I knew from another location and then moved to this salon. I'm loyal to him and only him. He learned to cut from Hong Kong, and he knows how to work with the thicker, coarser hairs of some Asians, especially doing a fantastic job with layers and framing the face. Ask for Ken if this sounds like someone who suits you. There's no parking for this salon. I just use street parking or park at the library and walk over. read more

I've been going to Anjelika for my eyebrow microblade for years, and I decided to get my lash line done as well. I've been super happy about my brows (I went to someone else before but they weren't great), and she told me it doesn't hurt at all, so I gave it a shot. I really love them! I've left the house with no eyeliner makeup and feel great about it. I've been going here for a few years and every time I go there they mess up or don't give me what I want. The last time I went here I asked for a little bit off the sides back and the top the person cutting my hair ended up giving me a front-to-back fade with really short hair in the front of my sides short and long in the back now it looks like I have a mullet the only thing they got right was the top long. Unpredictable prices, unpredictable quality. Used to be great, not anymore. I called explicitly to know the price as I have a super simple short hair cut. They gave me a range of prices that differed by 25%. I confirmed on the phone that they can do it for the lower price given the simplicity and made an appointment. **Attention groupon users*** While I can't speak on actual skill, I can warn you to call ahead before you purchase a groupon for this salon because I had a bad experience. I purchased a groupon for $149 for a keratin treatment, which is a great deal compared to the actual price without the groupon. I had been wanting to get this treatment done for a while, and decided to give it a try! I called to schedule an appointment, and was told to call the person who would actually be doing the keratin treatment because she did her own scheduling. When I called that other number, the person who answered said that the person running the Ad had quit and that my groupon could not be used to receive the service. I was upset because when I first called the actual salon I was not told about this. I was told to contact the person running the ad. Someone was being dishonest here... Purchased a groupon for eyelash extensions by Mimi. This was the first time getting lashes and I now understand why people do it allll the time. It's been so nice not having to put on mascara or eyeliner :) you can play them up with shadow or very natural look for work (which saved me so much time this morning). Mimi was very nice, comfortable and gentle while working on my lashes. Only suggestions: Educate new clients on maintenance, what to expect, and more conversation around desired look. Susan fixed my transitions and tone at an extremely reasonable price. Color correction is usually super expensive and very time consuming but it was not at all! They were actually running on schedule and they were able to get me in during my scheduled appointment time. Jess did so well with my hair. I'm pretty particular about my color. I told her what I liked/wanted and left the rest up to her. She did a fabulous job and was fun to talk to durning my appointment. Literally the worst hair color I've ever gotten from a salon. I went it for a balayage after having one about 5 months ago, expecting the ends the go lighter but overall the same look as before. I have never tried this salon and was in a pinch to get my hair done for a wedding. My original appointment was at The Shop next door, however, the stylist overbooked and was running an hour behind which meant I was going to miss my make-up appointment. Not the best situation!! I called several other salons and they were unable to accommodate since it was also prom. I ran to 88 Salon and Amanda greeted me. I explained my situation and she rushed to find someone to assist but no one was available. She took matter into her own hands and sat me down quickly to do my hair. I showed her the picture and she went to work. In less than 20 mins she finished my hair and it looked amazing. I was extremely impressed by her speed and precision. She is truly a pro with updos. Through dancing, running around, rain, my hair help up the entire 12 hours that day. read more

Karrie is awesome! This salon has a nice layout that allows enough space for multiple clients, but private and cozy enough for a great experience, unlike the cookie cutter places. I needed a 20s style up do for my holiday party, and Karrie not only seemed excited to do it for me, but did a fantastic job. She took some images from Pinterest I showed her and did what looked good for my hair. She was super considerate about my sensitivity to certain products, which not a lot of people care about. She took 2 1/2 hours to do my hair, which was fine, because she would try something and if it didn't look right or work the way she wanted she'd redo it. I got a very bad color job and cut a couple weeks ago and didn't want to go back to the same place. Seriously, probably the worst color job I've ever received (and paid for)! So, this morning I called a few places not knowing where to try next. Luckily, the first place that answered their phone was 88 Kirkland Salon, and I was talking to Susan. She worked me in today because of a cancellation. And I'm not kidding when I say "lucky me"! Susan did a great job! My highlights are beautiful! She even cleaned up a messy cut. Susan gave me foils that id made very clear I like platinum on my blonde hair. It turned out a dark wheat, which she said was a better color for me. I was going to be in a wedding so I was upset. She said it would turn platinum after a few washes. It didn't! I made an appt to get it redone and she turned it in to a SOLID wheat...then charged me! That was bad enough but I'd also bought large, expensive bottles of my favorite shampoo/cond and they were very obviously watered down. She made it clear she needed to make money for her family's new thai restaurant so I guess she decided to make her hair customers pay for it. Update: I'd also purchased a tube of babe lash, lash lengthener, and the bottle was dry. It was the 2nd time and amy had replaced the first one. Susan wouldn't even call the company for me. She has a problem with her English when you try to complain. I called the company myself and they replaced it. There had been issues. read more

My normal "go to" for a haircut was booked up on a Sunday and I was desperate. It was 6:00 pm and I just googled to see what was nearby and still open. Called 88 Salon an hour before closing and asked if I could come by. The woman said "yes, just hurry!" I got there and was sitting in the chair after about 5 min. Didn't know what I wanted, but I gave a general idea. The woman who cut my hair was incredibly sweet and had such a great personality. It truly was one of the best experiences I've ever had getting a hair cut. She knew what she was dong and I was completely relaxed and confident sitting there. Can't believe it was only $25 as well..... This place has removed all of my worries about getting my haircut. I wish I could remember her name, but she's now my "go to". read more

I believe in second chances but I made a grave mistake giving another to this salon. I had a stylist butcher my hair so I waited a year to come back hoping the next time I wouldn't get the same experience. I scheduled two hours in advance for a walk up appointment and the salon claimed to have time. I couldn't remember the name of the stylist of last time so I couldn't request to not have her. I walked in and sure enough it's the same stylist. I have shoulder length hair that I wanted to remove some of my dead ends and add shape to the back by taking some extra length off. About 15 minutes into my appointment the stylist begins to start talking about how she's going to be late for something (possibly another appointment but I'm not sure). She cuts for another 10 minutes then spends nearly an hour blowing out my thick hair to straighten it. I understand wanting to provide an experience but I didn't ask for it and it was also quite painful causing lots of tangling. After the blow drying done, I don't see a difference in my hair length at all. During the experience she gives me a snake oil salesman pitch telling me how great it looks and of course reminding me how late she is. I feel like I can't make any criticism because she's rushing me out the door but again feel like NOTHING looks different. This gets confirmed later by my boyfriend and group of friends who say they see zero difference. If you are a walk-in get ready to hear about the time crunch. If you want a big change, they might completely chop up your hair. If you want a small change you may not notice a difference at all. Not worth any more chances. read more

Short version: Underbleached my roots but also severely damaged my hair. Made me brush and dry my own hair. Unprofessional for a salon. Not going back to Tram Le. Long version: In October, I had Tram Le do my hair, and now every time I look in the mirror I have to cringe. I will preface my review by saying that I must have difficult hair because it always takes longer than stylists expect (it's very thick), and I asked for a difficult task: bleach my medium brown roots very pale and then dye/tone it silver. I had my appointment set for Friday, and left work early to get there, but they were closed because a floor job was taking an extra day. The stylist left me a message on my cellphone, but I have poor reception at work and didn't get it. We rescheduled for Monday because I needed my hair done in time for a company portrait. Monday afternoon I tell her what I want, specifically saying, "not yellow." I agree to try a slightly blonder look and she gets going on my roots with the bleach, and also I think trying to do some highlights in the rest of my already-bleached hair. Long story short, she did not bleach my roots as light as the rest of my hair but still completely fried it! A bunch snapped off at the front so it looks like I got mini bangs. I have never had my hair damaged getting bleached, in fact have been told my hair is exceptionally strong. After the bleach was finished, she washed it out and tried to convince me it was fine as is - bleach yellow. Sorry, no, that's not blonde, you need to tone it. It turns out she had a dinner appointment set up and was now running late, so she started to rush through everything. She had me brush my own hair while she got the toner ready, and later had me dry my own hair. Never had that happen at a hair salon, seemed unprofessional. She asked if I needed it to look nice, which seemed odd considering I was at a salon, and she did wind up straightening it although I said I didn't need anything fancy as long as it was dry. We didn't have time for the trim I wanted. I think we finished up a bit after 7:30, and the salon officially closes at 7. Just wanted to get the heck out of dodge and accidentally left her too big of a tip; in retrospect, shouldn't have left a tip at all. The tone she put in did get most of my hair the silver color I wanted, except for the "highlights", which remained bleach-colored yellow, so now I need to do some extreme photoshopping on my portrait. read more

Really upset with my experience here, for the following reasons: - as I went to sit in the chair, I saw that it was filthy. And there was hair all over the chair. The person in front of me had just had a "quick neck trim." Gross. - as the hairdresser was talking and drying my hair, she would leave the dryer on full blast on one section of my hair while she got lost in her story. I kept pulling away when I would smell burning hair. - overall the salon seemed very dirty and unkept. I was charged $50 for a mediocre/bad haircut, while the services were on the same level as hair masters. - Julie cut my hair. Too gossipy. Kinda judgmental to anyone not very edgy. I will not return and do not recommend this place. There are too many other kirkland salons to explore. I'll keep looking until I find the right fit. read more

I had a fabulous stylist back in San Diego and wasn't looking forward to replacing her. After spending almost a year trying to find an acceptable salon after moving up to Washington, I was thrilled to find this place just down the street from me. I had several haircut disasters before finding my great new stylist. Her name is SUSAN and she is just amazing. Not only does she give excellent cuts, she also spends an extra 5 mins to give the best head massage when shampooing. Soooo relaxing. I am so glad I found her. This salon is great! read more

I am always a little nervous about seeing a new stylist. I shopped around a little, and finally asked a coworker about her stylist, Susan at 88 Salon. She was very happy with her hair and really liked Susan so I thought I'd give her a try. I was running a bit early, so I sat and read while Susan multitasked with a few different clients. They all raved about her while I sat there. One just had her hair colored (blonde highlights, what I was about to do - so seeing that it looked great and she was very happy with Susan, it was very encouraging) and one was waiting to get some waxing done (which Susan is also apparently very good at - client raved about her work). Susan politely apologized about running a few minutes over the initial appointment time, but I didn't mind. I came in with a few crappy photos on my phone of a celebrity's hairstyle and said I wanted something along those lines both cut and color-wise. Susan took a look at my skin tone and said it would look good (she was adamant about not letting people choose colors that do not fit with their skin tone). She is officially a "hair whisperer"! LOL She made the color perfect, the cut also perfect, and even styled it for me. She knew which way to curl my hair (over or under) and it even held the curl for a while which is hard to do with my hair. She did an absolutely wonderful job. I left feeling amazing, and have received a lot of compliments. I'd highly recommend Susan. She was very affordable, super friendly/funny, and very talented at what she does! read more

I literally just got back from my appointment with Nicole. I haven't gotten highlights since I was in high school and my experiences were never that great. My self-performed highlights with the pull-through cap were even worse! As you can imagine, I wasn't sure what to expect after many unsatisfactory attempts at highlights. I was taken in for my appointment right away, which is always a plus! Parking can probably get tricky on a nice day, since it is right by the waterfront, but I didn't have an issue since my fiance dropped me off. There are a few bus stops near by, so it might be good to consider that an option too. I showed Nicole a picture of the color and amount of highlights I wanted to achieve. My hair is chemically-treated dark brown so I was definitely not looking for an all over blonde look. Nicole did a half-head of highlights on me, then toned down the blonde with a rich caramel color. Oh, my, goodness - the results were way better than I was expecting! It really helps to have a stylist that LISTENS and also takes his/her time. Considering I was her last client of the day, I didn't feel rushed at all or that she wasn't taking proper care to achieve the correct results. I will surely be back for touch-ups and more highlights. read more
