She was able to color correct a botched job at another place. She was super detailed in getting all of my hair foiled without leaving gaps (even the underneath) which is not easy to do. She gave me a beautiful blended blonde with the "money piece" (light piece in the front) exactly how I asked. She also did an amazing hair cut that frames my face so well. The best hair color, cut, and demeanor I have ever experienced when getting my hair done. She is also very kind, patient, listens to what the customer wants, and makes the whole experience very stress free and comfortable. She is also very fair and honest with the pricing. I moved to Kirkland from Houston and wanted to find a new stylist/salon that would truly listen to what I said I wanted for my hair. It had been twice the time between my usual cuts, so I understood that a stylist might have to use her imagination to picture the "overall vibe" of my cut when freshly styled. Though some clients were happy with Winslow, the percent of appalling reviews from clients scared me away. I chose a different but equally unknown Kirkland salon from those posting on YELP. While my cut there wasn't perfect, I did at least get a boring version of what I requested -- a style cut short and flat against my head on the left side, gradually lengthening in the back like a short rounded cap that hugged my head and tapered to the nape of the neck, and left long on the right side of my head but shaped to encourage the resulting deep wavy locks to hang languidly over and shade that side of my face. Like, drama. The stylist followed my instructions literally, but she failed artistically to create the look, or mood, I wanted. At least she did a decent job rather than ruin my hair, as too many clients in reviews of Winslow had complained. How hard is it to find a stylist who actually listens to what clients say. read more

I love the way my hair looks leaving the salon! That being said, it can be hard to make an appointment. Getting ahold of reception can sometimes be harder than it needs to be, and whenever I am in the salon no-one is actually working reception and stylist have to leave their client and run to the front to try to answer the phone or help people that walk in. I think they could have a much better booking system in place. read more

I had a truly disappointing experience at this salon while preparing for my wedding. I booked both a pre-wedding updo consultation ($144) and planned to return for the official day-of styling ($250). Before my consultation, I called twice to confirm how to prepare for the appointment and was explicitly told that my hair would be washed and blow-dried at the salon. Given my hectic schedule, I squeezed in a workout beforehand, assuming I'd have my hair washed as discussed. Upon arrival, I was abruptly informed that washing was not included. This left me with damp, sweaty hair that the stylist simply applied product to and styled--resulting in an absolute disaster. I made it clear that I had an event with 150 guests that night and wanted to leave with a polished style since I was paying for it. Instead, I walked out looking like a toddler had done my hair. I had no choice but to go home, shower, and restyle it myself, wasting both my time and money. When I reached out to the stylist afterward, she took no accountability, instead blaming the front desk for miscommunication and claiming I should have come in earlier--meaning I would have needed multiple appointments just to figure out what I wanted, each one costing me more money. I requested a refund, but all she returned was my gratuity. The final straw? I was expected to arrive for my actual wedding day appointment with a fresh blowout--meaning I would have already needed to pay for a separate service just to prep my hair. At that point, I decided to do my own bridal hair, and honestly, it turned out way better than what I paid for at this salon. Had they made this right, I wouldn't have left a review, but I don't want other brides--or anyone--going through this. If you're considering an updo here, do your research. This was an expensive, frustrating, and completely avoidable disaster. read more

I need everyone reading this to know this salon is awful and only cares about their image, not their customers. Buckle UP baby because this long. I'm not sorry though, because I don't want you to leave this salon feeling like the ugliest creature imaginable like I did. I booked an appointment to go back to my natural hair color from blonde. It is important to note I booked with the same stylist that was at a different salon and then she moved to Winslow. That was my mistake, I'll own that. This is where I might lose you but BEAR WITH ME!! Two months later I decided to do a bleach and tone at home with wella products (tryna save money you know). We are talking Bleach, developer, toner, the whole thing. It actually turned out incredible and I loved it, see the stupid picture of me with blonde hair that I uploaded lol. I did have to tone it often because I didn't leave the bleach on my roots long enough (it was my first time doing it at home ok) so I wanted to give my hair a bit of a break and go back to my natural color for about 7 months. so when I booked with the same stylist (again my fault) I told her EVERYTHING about my at home bleach. What products I used, how I did it, etc. She told me absolutely she could help. I'm going to attach a photo of what I showed her and what I got. I even brought the wella bottles to the appointment so she could see. When I got to my appointment I said I totally understand if it wasn't feasible. She verbatim said "oh yeah I can absolutely do that for you! No problem" And then I ended up looking like a copper penny with brown mixed in. See second photo. I expressed I wasn't satisfied and I got the usual "oh it's the lighting" so I went home gaslighted. I told the owner I would like a redo and told me she talked with my stylist and then she started blaming me telling me since I dyed it at home, it can be unpredictable. It's actually funny because the owner is saying that exact same thing in these reviews, blaming everyone who expresses their distaste for this salon and she somehow makes it their fault lol. It was like pulling teeth asking to have a different stylist to fix it (I know that's common practice but I expressed that I preferred to go to someone else, not the one who ruined my hair) but she eventually agreed. At my "fix" appointment I was there for 30 minutes and my hair didn't look any different. So I went to 3 different salons to help me get the disgusting bronze out of my hair and every single one of them were convinced the first stylist grabbed the wrong bowl of color because it just didn't make sense how they got that color. Even with me bleaching my hair at home. After three salons and $2,100 dollars later, it is finally fixed. All I can tell you now is go Industry Salon in Seattle. They did a color correction that didn't seem possible. I'm going to see Tayler at Industry Salon for the rest of my blonde life. read more

Went to this salon a few months ago and from the hair wash that was done by the stylist I immediately knew I was in for trouble. Since I'm from the East Coast my expectations were high, but I was appalled at how my hair turned out. I've been to many salons since moving around for my job and this one has to take the cake. Beware of the cheap hair products they use and sell. I've only seen them being sold at nail salons and Target. If you google R+Co you can easily find them being sold at a lot of places including Walmart and Target. If you're charging people high end prices at least deliver high end results and products. The best part was my end result. My hair looked frizzy with no shape or style. All I had done was a blow out. I put my hair back in a clip and counted my blessings that I didn't pay for more services! read more

I found the best hair dresser ever!! I absolutely adore Rachelle Short! I have long, straight thick course hair. I'm not picky. But the last hair cut I got from somewhere else was wrong. There was spots that didn't get cut. I tell every single one of my girlfriends to go to her. She is super gentle and she takes her time. It's not a rush job. Well worth the money. I got my hair done by Wesley about a month ago, and she put work into my hair! I have never had a stylist so dedicated to getting me to my hair goals. I have 3c curly hair, before I came in, I had highlights that were very grown out and a dark warm blonde color. I showed her a picture of a woman with similar hair to me with a balayage and asked if she could do it. She literally replicated it! She came in on a day she doesn't usually work just to do my hair for me and spent hours making sure it was perfect. She accomplished my hair goals for me in around 8 hours and she did work beyond anything I would have ever expected. She's absolutely incredible and I highly recommend getting your hair done by her! Choosing a new salon and stylist is always a stressful part of moving. When I moved to Kirkland in 2019, I decided to try Winslow due to its convenient central Kirkland location and solid reviews--but assumed it might take a few tries to find the right salon/stylist. As luck would have it, I landed both the right salon and stylist (Rachelle Short) in the first shot and have never looked back. My hair is admittedly difficult (very fine + naturally curly/frizzy + damaged), which makes my options somewhat limited. Rachelle knows exactly what works for my hair color and cut-wise, and I appreciate that she doesn't try to push me to change for change's sake (that's where I've had epic fails with past stylists). That said, I know she'll always give me her honest opinion and advice--and that I'll be in great hands if/when I want to mix things up and try something new. This is exactly what I want in a hair stylist. Also, Rachelle is a ray of sunshine. I genuinely enjoy my time in the chair with her and appreciate her commitment to customer service at every step, from scheduling to the in-salon experience. Three other women and me wanted our hair done, but the big issue was we needed styling very early in the morning to accommodate my late-morning ceremony and photos. Jenica was wonderful to work with, from the trial run to coordinating in advance to the big day. Her prices were very reasonable and she didn't add any fees for the early start time. I made an appointment at Winslow Salon to get a blowout because I was coming into town (from CA) for a wedding. Sami did my hair and she gave me one of the best blow dries I've ever had. I have naturally wavy hair that can get frizzy if not done properly. She gave me just enough volume, a smooth look, and used the right products so that my hair lasted without getting greasy. She did my hair on Thursday and it looked fabulous until Monday (that's no joke!), despite some humidity and light rain in WA during our trip. I'd definitely recommend Sami. The salon is on the higher end price wise, but similar to what I'm used to paying. Parking in the area can be challenging, but there's an affordable paid lot across the street if free street parking is not available. read more

Some great stylists - Britney is excellent - and in a good location. Generally, good service when there. However, three stylists later and several reschedule challenges later and I am done. Scheduling is a big challenge. When the occasion arises to 'reschedule' - may as well just skip a full month - as generally to get your preferred person it will be a full month before you can get back in. Simply put - scheduling is unmanageable. Further, there is no online scheduling and no email scheduling, and I often get voice mail when trying to call to schedule. When you talk to the schedulers, the background is so loud they can't even hear you . . . . so with that I generously give 3 stars. When I moved to the area over a year ago one of my main priorities was finding someone to cut my hair, as someone who has had their fair share of bad haircuts and color services over the year I have trust issues when it comes to my hair. After doing my research I booked my first appointment with Arpad. I 100% trust the advice and opinions he shares, and the fact that it's been over a year and I still come to see him specifically should say a lot! One thing I love about coming to him is that he's honest with what will and won't work with your face shape. Sometimes it's easy to be influenced into wanting something you see that looks good on someone else but you need someone to be honest instead of just blindly agreeing and you leaving with something that doesn't look like your inspo pic. I've had a few different cuts with him (having both long hair and shorter (to me) hair) from long layers and face framing , maintenance trimming, even the big "chop" earlier this year and I always leave pleased with my hair! Today I wanted (or thought I wanted) rounded layers with heavy face framing (think 90s) and he explained why he wouldn't suggest that cut for my face shape. Once I got the picture he suggested a modern shag to get the movement in my hair I wanted, no shocker here *he was right* I love it, it gives me the volume and movement I was looking for while we still maintained the length I wanted to preserve. Today I left with some new shampoo and conditioner from R&Co that he used while he shampooed my hair, it leaves your hair so soft, after using kerastase exclusively for the last 5 years it was time for a change. The salon itself is modern and clean and I've always had really pleasant experiences with booking and rescheduling when needed. read more

I often need to get my haircut every 4 months since my hair is so thick. She's easy-going, talented, and can wash and cut my hair in less then 40 minutes.
