Unfortunately I had a very disappointing experience at 88 Petworld. Highly disappointed with the establishment. I purchased a bunny for $79.99 for my 5 year old daughter and within a week the bunny passed away. The only symptom I noticed was crusty eyes shortly after bringing it home. When I contacted the store, they refused to offer any reimbursement or solution. It was especially heartbreaking because I had to explain this to my child and then purchase another bunny where they full charged me again $95. I would strongly recommend that animals be health-checked more carefully before being sold. The man made me feel it was my fault when he uses pine shavings, which are highly toxic for bunnies where i learned that after purchase." This was orea my daughters bunny whom passed. Skye slept next to its cage every night and fully excited about this bunny. She was taking very good care of this bunny. I will not let this issue go. But people should be aware. read more

so... not great. I bought a neon green toadstool coral frag, and asked why they had such a low stock. I was told most of their last coral shipment died for an unknown reason. The staff said the water was fine, however when I got home I decided to check for myself. Their phosphate level was higher than I could even test for, (I can test for phosphate levels up to 10.0PPM) this is likely the main reason all their coral died. Also, the nitrate level was through the roof. To any reef tank hobbyist I highly recommend staying away from any coral found in this place. the only reason I gave this 3 stars is because the staff member I spoke with was very nice and eager to help in any way. read more

I had a bad experience at a big box pet shop with a snake who died 4 days after purchasing it. So I looked this place up called ahead to see if they had any ball pythons. They told me they did. So I ran over to replace my 5yo sons early Christmas gift from his elf on the shelf and I was so happy to see all they had and how healthy and taken care of all the animals were. I've since picked up a second snake from them that the lady there showed me on my first trip in and I fell in love with. The best exotic pet store in the area. Not only are their employees very friendly, but their prices are awesome. They have a very small dog, cat, bunny, and bird section. The whole back room is exotic tropical and saltwater fish. Then there are about two aisles of reptile and fish care supplies. 88 Pet World has crickets and pinkies for feeders, and they even have a pet boarding service if you ever go away on vacation. In the back on certain days of the week, a professional groomer comes in to groom animals at a low cost. Overall, it is a small store with a small selection. But they are always eager to help and have everything I need to care for my animals. I hope in the future the owner chooses to expand his selection. read more

I have never encountered such rude staff in my entire life. A lady helped me with my questions and treated me like a child. My family and I spent months researching hedgehogs before we decided it was time to get one to be apart of our family. The staff member acted very confidently in what information she knew, but I knew from the months of research that we did that she actually knew nothing at all. I tried to ignore her rude and belittling tone of voice because my family was really looking forward to me bringing home a new member of the family, however, the hedgehogs looked sick and were living in a cage surrounded in feces and I knew she wouldn't let me leave there without buying their cage and supplies even though my family had bought our own cage and necessities before I went to the store. It was really sad to see the conditions of the animals considering this is a pet store. They will 100% try to sell you things that you do not need in order to make more profit. With one glance, anyone can see the living conditions of the animals and see how cruel it is, please do not support a place like this. read more

Don't expect them to honor replacement of fish that die policy.. Bought three fish and 2 died the next day. I've had fish tanks for 30 years so I know what I'm doing.. The employee came up with one new reason after another each time I debunked her previous accusation of why it was my fault. Owner is rude and does not stand behind the live stock he sells. Our fish died within a day of being home. We had our water tested and all was perfect. Contacted the owner and he played the blame game: "how can I be sure you cared for the fish and I wasn't there to see, how do I know you fed your fish as I wasn't there, how do i know the water tested was actually from your fish tank, and then proceeds to say that "you don't need a college education" to understand he's not to blame. No refund, no substitution, no professionalism and no care. We will NEVER go back. Additionlly, while we were in the store for the purchase, he is so rude to customers we couldn't believe what came out of his mouth - degrading customers. And we heard a call about someone inquiring about boarding their pet with him - he laughed at them when they asked if there was a discount for extended days and he rudely told them it's per day..period. He chews my walls and all my carpets "he" will not let me trim his nails or anything of that sort. The staff is very rude and tried to tell me wrong information about rabbits. The lady tried to tell me they aren't allowed to have anything but wired bottom cages when in fact it's the opposite the wires at the bottom of the cage can actually hurt them. Their nails or toes can get stuck in the bottom and can break them. Also they told me rabbits will get infected if they don't have wire bottom cages are more prone to infections with the wire bottoms because of them peeing on it and if it's not cleaned properly it can rust and do more harm than good. I was given so much attitude by this lady for the rest of the time I was there. I have had rabbits for the majority of my life and frankly I was kind of offended that the lady questioned my ability and argued with me over it. Also their prices are actually higher than most chain pet stores I have been to when it comes to cages and hay and such. I will definitely never be going back there and I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

88 Pets has a phenomenal exotic animal pet sitting service. They are extremely reasonable and took amazing care of our sun conjure. Ryan was so compassionate for my daughter that was so hesitant to leave Skyler there, that he listened to and encouraged her to tell him the birds daily habits and she stayed for two and a half hours, the store was even closed at one point and she was still there talking to him about and saying goodbye to her bird. He text her every day and even sent her pictures of him walking around with her on his and his coworkers shoulder because she's so used to human contact he wanted to maintain her style of living as best he could. He went so far as to take the pumpkin seeds out of her food mix each morning because my daughter told him Skyler doesn't like pumpkin seeds! I don't think you can better care than that! I did my home work b4 looking to buy a sugar glider. I had quite a trip to go buy one as well. I could only find a couple of exotic pet stores that were close enough to go to. I decide to go to Brick. I found two listed there that had exotics (it was an hour away for me). 88 had the sugar gliders the other store was out of stock. I was impressed with 88 Pet World. I was not pressured at all. In fact I think there could have been a little more nudges in my view but they wanted me to be sure of what I was getting into by buying sugar gliders. The cost per glider was cheaper than the competitor and I was given a discount on the second glider (it's not advisable to buy only one unless you are a stay at home person). The advise was great and I was offered everything I needed without being pressured (including a helpful print out on gliders). The proprietor was sure to sell me animals from different colonies. I was advised to drive home with the gliders in a bonding pouch around my neck (turned out to be great advise!). The animals are still healthy and are doing very well! They bonded in no time to me. I have to give 88 Pet World a big thumbs up! The only issue I might mention is the receipt needs to be itemized even if it is a credit card purchase. Customers like to look over each item at a later time and go over the cost for each item. It helps to build better trust as well with the public. It seems that the cash register and receipt system needs an upgrade. Each item had a visible price tag but the receipt was not itemized. read more

I see 3 clearly identical Red terrors,owner labels 1 Cuban cichlid I ask are you certain he shrugs idk,so I say right now they're identical I strongly feel they're all Red Terrors he shrugs again,I ask if color changes and it clearly not "Cuban" can I have a store credit for difference or return fish he says "No you win some you lose some "just don't think it's right Cuban was 55$ Terror was 25$ but there was no Cuban I spend $ sometimes twice a week there just think credit for difference or return on fish is fair option owner says"if you come for red terror and get Cuban for terror price will I bring bring him difference?" Smh! My point is i don't care if it was a whale I only want what I payed for man,didn't come in for that don't get me wrong nice fish but the one next to it was 30$ cheaper.So be careful "Bad Business" any other business or even pet store has a more fair policy than that but I guess when Dad gives you business you can care less about a customer...sad!! read more

I visited this place to get a pet for my child. I must say from the time I walked up to the counter, the owner/manager was very unpleasant. He was very curt with me when I was inquiring about a pet. I had the unfortunate experience of witnessing him harassing the woman behind the counter about a store item which was damaged and he was very hostile about the issue. After that episode was over, I asked basic details about the animal, like was the animal male or female, he stated abruptly he did not know and he showed no interest in getting an answer to my question. I had decided to buy the animal any way from this rude person, because my child really wanted this animal, and then the situation took another unfortunate turn of events. As I approached the owner about buying the animal. He once again in a rude tone of voice told me that he was going to help someone else.
