Surprisingly very good for a casino (read: for this casino). Sushi options are limited and on the pricey side ($9 per order of 2 pieces), but the size of each nigiri is comically large (think 3x the size of a normal cut of fish + normal portion of rice), and the quality is quite good -- the yellowtail belly is a must-order. The $28 jumbo prawns with chili and garlic is a five-star dish: 10 to 12 very good sized juicy shrimp, lightly fried with bunches of chili and garlic -- great to share. Conveniently located between poker & race track. Way better than anything on offer at the upstairs sports bar on the other side of the casino. read more

Tucked deep inside the Hollywood Casino. 9 Dragons is a very nicely decorated casino restaurant, wall-waterfall included. But, it's masking the mediocore food, lacking in flavor and quality. I do have to say though--this is the better of casino restaurants compared to your usual fare a la carte fares. To start, the service was very slow. After ordering a combination of family style plates and sushi, the waitress dropped off our sushi condiments and asked if we wanted it delivered first. Unfortunately, it never was delivered first, and after a very long wait our peking duck arrived. The crispiness, fattiness is sure to win your hearts over, but it will doesn't have that much meat or flavor for quack-addicts/afficionados. The steamed buns that came with it were VERY good. The sauce was very salty, so use sparingly. In general everything tasted OK, just lacked extra flavor. For example, the congee was disappointing; the black egg wasn't diced very much, so you got huge chunks to bite. The rest could have used a bit more flavor--ginger even. Our mussel casserole came with a ton of empty shells. The sushi was standard, but they skimp in the amount of fish in it. Nigiri has a lot of rice, and the rolls only have a sliver of fish inside. Wasn't bad sushi, and prices were comparable to sushi restaurants. ($5 a roll about) I recommend trying any of their steamed items and picking a protein stirfry. Standard free oranges at the end of your meal. Expect a delay in getting your cards back--it took us near 30 minutes, which allowed for some "eat this for a poker chip" shenanigans. read more

Disappointing. Last meal we had here was very good. Today it was dreadful. The service was less than average. Started at the bar where there was nothing on tap (not working). The appetizers were ok. Dragon roll and tampura vegetable, although broccoli dominated the tampura. We ordered crispy duck (could not eat it. Sent it back). Duck was not crispy mainly consisted of floppy skin and fat. Server started to tell me that it was cut off the bone amd the way it was supposed to be. Really!!! The second entre was chicken in cocunut chili. The chili totally over powered the taste. What a great surprise! I came to Hollywood Casino with a birthday party, and was offered a reservation at the Final Cut, but declined because the prices were insanely expensive for people whose primary purpose is to gamble. The SkyBox, the sports bar and cheaper alternative, wasn't taking reservations because of a Chinese concert for the Chinese New Year. So when I went up to the 9 Dragons desk (adjacent to the poker room and OK Corral), it was a pleasant surprise that they were able to accommodate all 16 of us, at 6 pm, and had the formality of the Final Cut with the prices of the SkyBox. Get the spring rolls-they are cheap AND good! I had sushi that was tasty and filling. One of the guests really enjoyed the pork belly appetizer. All of the dinner meals were good and large enough to let everyone sample little bits. We all had plenty to drink and eat. All in all a great experience. The service was a little confused and slow, but I give lenience on that when you're dealing with such a large group. They gave the birthday boy a piece of cheesecake for free. And it was DELICIOUS. When the bill came, it was frankly a huge surprise that with the number of people we had and the food and drinks consumed, that the bill came to $33pp INCLUDING tip. We had dinner on a Sunday night. The restaurant was relatively empty, with few booths occupied, yet our service was extremely slow. It took about 5 minutes just to get our drink order. We later found out from a friend who is a regular there that our server will remember you after one visit and takes a lot of time conversing with guests. We can appreciate that and were in no rush, so it was fine. I also work in hospitality and understand that everyone has good and bad days. The food was pretty awesome. We started off with sushi- spicy tuna rolls, which were amazing. For dinner, my boyfriend had the general tso's chicken which was delicious and very flavorful. I had the chicken and broccoli which was also very good. Overall, awesome food! We will return! read more

Went here on a Saturday night....no wait, we got a booth right away...I Our server was good but had to go ask about a couple simple questions we had...Was a bit dark, made it hard to read the sushi menu and the regular menu. Had to use the lantern feature on my phone (lol). We had two sushi rolls; the spicy momma (spicy tuna, jalapeno and cilantro) and the mango tuna. The spicy momma was an inside out roll (where the sushi rice is on the outside and the nori is on the inside). Both rolls were very good but the mango tuna lacked a little flavor possibly due to mango's being out of season. We also had the dumplings (pan fried) and I was disappointed that there were only 4 and honestly I thought these tasted mass-produced. Seemed to be the 'standard' dumping you get in any/every Chinese restaurant. I was really hoping for some in-house dumpings but I guess I expected too much. For entrees we had the crispy shredded beef | celery, carrot, scallion and the Singapore rice noodles(shrimp, pork, curry, peppers, onion, hot chili), The Singapore rice noodles were AMAZING. I thought they were going to be drowned in sauce but there was NO sauce but yet the noodles were soft and very flavorful. The crispy shredded beef was tasty but I would have liked more rice. The hot tea was some of the BEST hot tea I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. It did take our waiter a LONG time to bring our check. He got distracted by a large 8-top and really neglected us after we got our food. This caused a deduction in his tip but we still tipped pretty close to 20%. Total bill was only $48.00 for the two of us. We will go back. Just wish there was an easier way to get to the locale. read more

My girlfriend and myself come here reguarly for the traditional chinese cuisine which is far better than anything regionally available. The staff is very prompt and friendly and water and tea refills are always prompt. Items from the sushi bar are asian infusion style which i am ok with, the fish and other ingredients are always fresh and tasty. Our personal favorate fish is the stirfry peashoots a must have when dining at 9 dragons. My husband and I make the trip from Hagerstown just to have the chicken and salted fish fried rice. It is amazingly delicious! It may not be pleasing to an American palate, as the waitresses are always surprised when we order it. I come from a Caribbean background, and we eat a lot of salted fish. Restaurant opens at 5pm. I arrive at 5:35pm. No welcoming greeting from the hostess. Just a look as if to say, "what do you need?". I say to the hostess, " I need a table for two please?" and her curt response is, "there is a 15 min wait". I look at her and say, "okay." she says, "have a seat over there" pointing to chairs in the waiting area. As I sit down, I notice no less than 5 open tables in the restaurant empty, and thats just from my view. Had dinner last Saturday. It was early, about 6p, just a few other tables there. Some random thoughts: - Service was OK, nothing great, nothing terrible. The restaurant, despite it being Sat night, was only about half full. The server was moderately attentive. - You are coming here for the food. The spring rolls, as others have said, were good; light, a bit oily but fresh. The seafood lo mein had a good amount of seafood (although too much octopus, which I don't like). Scallops were the size of ping pong balls, no kidding. - Others at our table thought similar - their food was fantastic (drunken noodles and some beef and veggies dish). - the hot green tea they bring you is outstanding (and free!). - my brother's bourbon he ordered was barely a splash, like 1% bourbon and 99% ice. - those chilled orange slices, what a nice touch at the end of the meal. I would come here again. The prices are typical 'nice restaurant in a casino' and not out of line. I think the bill with tip was $90 for four of us; so it's cheaper than the steakhouse or even the buffet, but more expensive than the food court. read more

We dine here a few times a month and are never disappointed. To start, we always ask to be seated at JD's section, because he is the best waiter ever. The magic Dragon cocktail is delicious to start, then sushi pizza and fried tempura or dumplings for an appitizer, the crispy duck is amazing, but we usually go for mu shu pork, Mongolian beef or beef with basil. I have been there five or six times because it is the best Chinese restaurant around. The food is wonderful and they will prepare it to your particular liking. This restaurant has significantly changed from what was a good restaurant to being not so much. Originally the chef was Chinese but now I question who is in the kitchen. Ordered General Tso's chicken (which looked a lot and tasted like sweet and sour chicken) and Hot and spicy pork and both had so much added sugar they were inedible. Service was adequate but spend your money elsewhere until there are more experienced hands in the kitchen. On a positive note the steamed dumplings were good. read more

We ordered sushi a orange blossom it was good but hard to eat kinda like a ice cream cone shape and sea weed was tough. Had a hot mama roll I don't like tuna much but went well together. We went to the Hollywood Casino for the first time. The live band was awesome and we played a little slots. Hunger set in because it was a cold night and 9 dragons was just ahead of us so we walked in. We sat at the bar and the bartender was a very attractive gal from just up the road. The hot pork dumplings were delicious while drinking a cold Singtao. Our main course, Wok Seared Sirloin served in a hot, thick metal cast bowl was incredible. The chef stopped by and we shook his hand with gratitude and thankfulness. His travels have been great and his soul was powerful like our Father. We shall return. read more

My experience at 9 Dragons was far from perfect, but in the end I feel like I have to rate a restaurant mostly on the quality of the food. The food at this place was excellent. I went to the restaurant with 2 friends who came to Charles Town to gamble on the ponies. As opposed to the fast food like places at CT, this restaurant was at the higher end (for prices and food), but a real treat. Although we were seated quickly, our server was pretty slow. What made up for the slow service however, was the food quality. I ordered orange beef which was some of the best that I have had. A friend ordered drunken noodles which was good. The third friend, who fancies himself a foodie asked the server to have the kitchen create a dish combining tofu, eggplant, and a spicy black bean sauce. I wondered what would show up at the table, but was pleasantly surprised to find the eggplant dish was also great.
