I've quickly grown to really love this place. Feels like a true locals dive bar oasis in an unassuming strip mall. The vibe in this place is top notch. Plenty of tv's playing sports, old school decor, people playing pool, and good energy flowing in all directions. While they don't have a kitchen, "Jimmy Snacks" supplied a wide array of chips, nuts, candy and other bites l, which adorn the wall. Just make sure you leave him a little tip as a thank you (even though he'll tell you it's not necessary). The bartenders and patrons are all friendly and easy to speak up conversation with. This is the best bar in Los Angeles hands down, nicest most welcoming bartenders and regulars. Owner's are the best and they know what they're doing! Unbeatable prices and weekly events. Make sure you come for music bingo on Tuesdays and whiskey Wednesdays. There's also top tier tacos on Thursday nights and you get a taco ticket for every drink you order. I've been coming here multiple days a week for years and have never seen anyone have an issue. Kayla must be trippin because we were all there that night and that did not happen. read more

What a fun neighborhood hang out! We eat at Ronnie's all the time and would see this place but never ventured it. So glad we finally did!! You can tell it's a close knit locals place but also open to newbies. Pool table, high tops and omg a whole snack bar that's open to everyone! We were obsessed with this free snack option. Super fun. It's a nice little place. Bartender was friendly and attentive, though it helped that they weren't swamped. Plenty of people there though, so they're clearly popular. The bartender makes pretty good drinks too. We happened to show up when they were getting ready to run a musical bingo game and one of us won some bar bucks, so that was fun as well. Overall, great time. Will probably go back sometime soon. read more

Whoa - what a gem. Happy hour drinks for $8 (Jack or titos) Free high quality snacks of various types: gummy bears, pretzels, chips and guac, jerky. It was unbelievable. "Jim Snacks" I believe is that man who generously supplies the goods. I thanked him for being so cool. Also, I want to be him when I grow up. And on Thursday, your drink gets you a free street taco at 8PM which comes with amazing potatoes. You can't find a spot in LA like this anymore. Cozy, neighborhoody, good vibes. The bartender is hilarious. There's ample parking and everyone is so nice. There's also a huge library of board games to pick from as well. I'm trying to get my west side friends to go because this is worth checking out. read more

I've been going to 90 for years! The way I found it, was because it used to be a 49ers bar. Even though it's no longer my favorite football team's bar,I still love going here. They've got beers on tap and six shelves of hard liquor. Well drinks start at $5.50 with a 2 oz pour and beers start at $5. Parking is either in the lot or on the street, but I've never had an issue with parking. The pool table is closed for the time being but they still have table games like connect four, Jenga, rock em sock em robots, etc. King Trivia is back on Monday's from 8-10pm. They didn't bring back hotdog Monday's, taco Thursdays, or bbq Sunday's just yet but you can always call Lenzini's Pizza in their shopping complex and they'll deliver for free and give you 10% off your order. This is my home for every Lakers, Dodgers, and Kings game, but they have so many TVs that they've got all the games on. read more

I debated in my head about this being the place for a "first meet"...but it was perfect. Huge parking lot. The floor was being mopped upon walking in. (Nice) The local patrons seemed welcoming and warm. And the drinks were a VERY DECENT price. $10 minimum if you open a card tab. Free Wi-Fi in case you wanted to bring your laptop. A newly renovated pool table. Great music. I could go on. I can't wait to come back here. People probably saw us making out but everyone minded their own business. Thanks. I owe you. read more

It's been so long since I wrote my first review for this bar. Honestly it's so much more than just a bar. It's a spot where me and my friends can always meet up and make a random Tuesday into an epic night. They have so many activities that I love like taco Thursday, trivia night, pride celebrations, and the occasional paint night. Its my favorite spot in LA. If you read the description per owners on Yelp it says it's a cozy bar with a Midwest feel and generosity. Yup. And not super expensive The reason why I like this place, the most is because I follow them on Instagram and they have all these cute little parties they put together. Also, you can have your dogs on the patio outside which is always wonderful. Nice addition to playa Del Rey I really like it. read more

Great place for Monday trivia, Thursday tacos, board games, and billiards. The pool table is nice and it is a fairly competitive crowd. The bartenders are friendly and conversational while also attentive. Watering hole for locals with a mix of people visiting town, most likely due to proximity to the airport. Monday trivia is one of my favorites. The trivia quizmaster is cool too. read more

Specialties

We are a local dive bar with a Midwest type friendliness and generosity. Indoors, we have 6 TV’s, 11 bar seats, 7 indoor tables, a Diamond pool table, a TouchTunes Jukebox and a large selection of board games and cards. Outside, we have a heated patio with one TV, to show your favorite sports & teams. Our 8 draft beers are served by the glass, or if you’d like, in small or large pitchers. We also have about 20 beers & seltzers in bottles & cans. With over 100 different spirits and our highly experienced staff, we can mix you a great cocktail. Dogs are welcomed with dog treats and bowls of water. Matter of fact, we've had the occasional cat and bird owners come visit us with their pets. (although, not at the same time… a cat and a bird might be tough!). We are definitely not your typical LA bar! Stop by and enjoy a draft beer or a cocktail, and see for yourself!

History

Established in 2007.

The interior was designed to resemble that of a stateroom aboard an old ocean liner. Cherry-stained hardwood covers the bar, wall to wall, displaying old-style craftsmanship giving the 90 West Lounge a truly unique feeling. Our gorgeous bar is somewhat of a hidden treasure found in the rear of the Marina Plaza, adjacent to Ronnie's Diner. After 34 years of serving customers only beer & wine, in 2013, the current owners purchased a liquor license and now have a full bar with every variety of liquor you can imagine. The bar's name has changed with its many owners over the years: The Bus Stop, Harp & Crown, Larkin's, and The Boatyard Pub. Today, with Ben & Angela, both at the helm, it is now an upscale dive bar with a warm feeling like Cheers where "everyone knows your name."

Meet the Business Owner: Angela and Ben K.

Since his May, 2011 purchase of the 90 West Lounge, Ben made the “90” a favorite locals spot for many neighbors & friends. Often customers will bring in their friendly & obedient pets too. Many customers come to unwind & socialize, enjoy a few cocktails and watch sports together. There are 7 TVs, an Internet Jukebox, many board games & both indoor & outdoor seating. You are welcome to order in food from anywhere you like. Angela, (Ben’s girlfriend) joined the 90 West team as general manager in mid 2012. Together, Angela and Ben have built up an amazing staff, stocked the bar with a wide selection of spirits, and a large collection of games for customers to enjoy during their visit. (Examples are: Cards Against Humanity, Giant Jenga, Connect Four, Battle Ship). Playing pool at the 90 West on their Diamond pool table is quite competitive, but you’ll certainly enjoy it. We were exclusively 49’rs. We now leave it open to all but still get a good following for 49’rs. Currently of course we are closed due to COVID.

I would totally return and purchase another bottle. We also ordered a charcuterie board and took advantage of their happy hour special for $20 (pick two-- one cheese and one meat). We opted for the 'Humboldt Fog' Chèvre as our cheese option and the Bresaola for our meat option. Both were delicious, but the chèvre was truly exquisite. We shared one charcuterie board with five people and it was enough; however if you're on the hungry side, I suggest two charcuterie boards for five or six people. In addition to meat and cheese, it comes with crackers, some pickled veggies, onion jam, candied nuts, whole grain Dijon, and apple slices. On the left side of the venue you have your variety of wine options; on the right side, there's the bar and some tables, plus a small area with other snacks for purchase that pair nicely with wine or beer. They even sell the Torres truffle chips! My only complaint is the service, unfortunately. The lady at the cashier was super friendly, however the bar tender was not so welcoming. When he came over to our table to open our wine bottle, he didn't greet us, smile, or say anything. He took our bottle and opened it and then asked who was going to taste. Not sure if he thought we didn't speak English since we were speaking another language when he came to our table, but overall, we all noticed his attitude and thought it was rather unwelcoming. Because of this experience, I rate this place a 4/5, however, everything else was great!

They also cut the entire piece for you and scraped every last bit off of the bone too. The service is really attentive. They come by your table a lot to ensure you have everything you need. Our server was kind, apologetic, and clearly doing her best. The problem wasn't the attitude of the staff, it was that the restaurant was completely overwhelmed and simply not prepared for the holiday rush. Not ready at all. We were seated at 9:04 PM and didn't place our order until around 9:20 PM because it took that long just to get drink orders taken. Wanting to avoid any further delays, we ordered everything at once. Our meals arrived around 9:42 PM, which seemed reasonable, except my daughter's meal never came out. We informed our server and were repeatedly told it was "on the way." Fifteen minutes later, still nothing. We began sharing our food with our daughter so she could eat with us. We asked again and again, receiving apologies each time, but no meal. By 10:25 PM--more than an hour after ordering--my daughter's plate finally arrived. By then everyone else had already finished eating and were simply waiting while she rushed to eat alone. Thinking we were finally nearing the end, I requested our bill and ordered two slices of red velvet cake to go. Surely that wouldn't take long. Wrong again. While waiting, another large table from the East Coast asked to speak with a manager and described their own frustrating experience with delayed orders and lack of assistance. When the manager returned, I simply asked if we could please get our two slices of cake so we could leave. He apologized and went to retrieve them. It took 25 minutes to get 2 slices of cake and possibly longer if I had not stopped the manager. We finally walked out more than two hours after being seated, having spent most of that time waiting rather than enjoying our meal. To make matters worse, going a few minutes beyond the two-hour mark triggered another hour of parking charges, making an already expensive evening even more frustrating. I feel bad because I had built this place up so much to my family, and their first experience was disappointing. I know holiday crowds can be difficult, and I truly appreciate the staff members who remained courteous throughout the night, but management seriously underestimated the demand and the customer experience suffered because of it. I hope Fixins can address these issues because I'd like to remember the restaurant for its food and hospitality and not for spending two hours mostly waiting to be served. I had to take pics of my daughter with her head down on the table waiting on her food. Happy to share them privately.

I went there with my wife and 2 teenage daughters. We started with the cornbread. I thought it was good (4/5) but with the amount of butter and honey anything would have been good. Wife didn't care for it, thought the buttermilk made it too sour. Just know that it's tiny. For the four of us, each had one bite. The menu for mains is pretty limited. Steak, swordfish, or porkchop. We ended up going with the steak, 2 swordfish, and then added the brown eyed peas, mashed potatoes, and then wanted to start off with the pork chile (which is really chile verde). The chile verde was the star of the night. If I ever went back, this is what I would order. Maybe it's because all the chef's are hispanic, but it was really good. They serve it with homemade tortillas and it was excellent. The steak is a large 2 pound bone in rib eye. I ordered it medium rare. It was more on the rare side, which i don't have a problem with, but the steak was a little tough. I liked it because I like things that are not very sweet but I was the only one that cared for it. Overall portions are fairly small. Between me, my wife, and two teenagers we ate everything. Total bill with tip was about $510. Pretty crazy when you think about it. Would I go back? Probably not but the ambiance was nice with the grill and real candles.
