CA Paramedics and EMT's: you cant use the classes offered here for your CE hours as they dont have a CA prehospital CE provider number. I wish I knew this before enrolling. I now have to make up 16 hours pf instructor based CE at the last minute that I already paid for, and dont have time to retake. I texted the phone number prior to enrolling, and got a response pointing me to the website. It's VERY misleading because they have pictures of first responders on the front page, and it also states that the classes are great for paramedics and EMTs. They only have CEU for nurses. I wrote this review because if I knew CE from this business doesn't work for CA prehospital employees, I would have never enrolled. Update: Owner immediately responds by pulling up my EMT cert #, along with a threat to file a complaint with the LA county EMS authority unless I take down this review. She tells me to "grow up" and go get free CE from the internet. Do yourself a favor and stay away. read more

I needed to renew my PALS and picked this place since it has a lot of good reviews. The signup for classes is pretty easy (you can do it online or by phone). The instructor was pretty friendly and knowledgeable. The class itself went by pretty quick, even with the hands-on participation and practice with the mega codes. However, I docked a star because of the somewhat lack of organization in the beginning. Class was supposed to start at 9AM. However, the check-in process for everyone took forever that we didn't start until around 10AM. If they were to fix this by perhaps checking people in at the front, then the start of the class can run more smoothly. Other than that, this is a good place to get your renewals. read more

I work as a Float Pool RN, and I'm soon to get cross trained to the ED and needed my PALS ASAP. During these crazy corona times, it'd been a struggle to find anyplace open near me. I remembered using 911 Medical Education during nursing school at CSULB and they were good, so I went ahead and looked on their website. There was a number that you can text 24/7 for questions. I was initially looking to do a blended session (online then in person verification) but after texting and calling, Ilene (owner I think) went ahead and said she'd do a small in person session for me. The day of my PALS class ended up being me and just one other person. Everyone wore masks, & hand sanitizer was available. I had a really good experience getting my PALS & renewing my BLS here. This is a great place to renew your BLS cert! They offer classes everyday, so the class sizes end up being pretty small. In my own class, there was like six people. It was a little difficult to find the location, but it is located in the large, nondescript building. They are very welcoming -- there is coffee, tea, water, and candy to take before class or during your breaks, and the dummies are wearing pretty amusing t-shirts. The instructor let us know that we could come back at any time after we got our cert if we had any questions or needed advice. The class itself was very fast, and they try to get you through quickly. I have to say though, if it is your first time taking a BLS class, you might feel a little rushed. I am not sure if the renewal and first time classes are lumped together, but it's worth looking into because they might be paced differently. With the book, the price of the BLS class is $64. I felt like this was a pretty reasonable price; I didn't do much more research to find the absolute cheapest class, but it was the cheapest among the ones I did search in the area. read more

I've now come to 911 Medical Education twice to get my PALS certification. Each experience has been nothing short of amazing. They're one of the better places to go to for certifications because they give you you're card the same day. My course instructor was Ilene Castro and she did a marvelous job of presenting the information in a way that I could retain it. The course material is very specific to the pediatric population and every bit of information presented can be applied in the medical setting. There was no pressure and she makes you feel to ask questions and give answers to her questions. Parking: There's a private lot for parking on site. No attendants are on on the weekends so park wherever you like. I would definitely come back to this facility. Everyone is nice, friendly and make it an enjoyable experience. I was able to renew BLS and complete my ACLS in one day. Instructors were pleasant and approachable, and I was allowed to watch my tests be graded and ask questions (made a silly mistake on BLS but it's fine :D ). We were treated like guests, and there was coffee, tea, and snacks for anyone with hypoglycemia (or if you just worked late the night before - we ARE healthcare workers!). Great place to take AHA certified courses! The instructor is phenomenal and the class is very stress-free but you definitely do learn. Parking can be a little tough. If you park on the street, make sure you pay close attention to the street sweeping signs. There's also a tiny underground parking structure with visitor spots. read more

Wow, that was really surprisingly painless. No pressure, no stress, relaxed learning environment and no feeling like the slow one in the group. lol. Got my ACLS and BLS combo re-certifications here super last minute today (Saturday morning). Sat with an interesting group as well: 2 oral surgeon students, one pharmacist, and 2 other nurses. We got to learn a little about each other's careers on top of our acls and bls training, which made it interesting and fun to hear. Our instructor broke down our 50 q's into 2 x 25 tests (taken in the middle and end) to allow your brain to focus on what they just taught you. It's really soooooo much nicer than the previous ACLS class I took, you should give them a look because their prices aren't bad as well. Snacks, cold and hot water provided, coffee. I needed to take the PALS class for my new job and I did some searching on the internet and found that 911 Medical Education had the best rates and most number of classes available. They have 2 locations in Long Beach and Fountain Valley. I emailed them to double check and they were very prompt in responding. I signed up online and normally it's $190, but online they had it for $175. The class started at 9am and there was ample free parking at the Long Beach location. You check in and then you start class once everyone arrives. Marco was our instructor who was super knowledgeable, friendly, and very patient. He made sure that everyone understood the information, but at the same time didn't slow down the rest of the class. You get a couple breaks throughout and then you review before the exam and you're done! They also gave me a certificate good for 8 CE units so that was also a plus. I highly recommend this place and will be going back for my ACLS renewal as well. They also have a bunch of other classes and combo classes. read more
