Those of us working in healthcare know all to well that waiting for the last minute to renew your Healthcare BLS CPR is never a good idea. If you're like me and waited over six months knowing you'd need it in order to better market yourself to potential employers than you're scrambling to find a solution. I did what most people do and brought up google (healthcare cpr classes) and a host of different choices were populated. I'm not sure how I picked The CPR Hero Training Center but I am so happy I did because first off they had plenty of locations to choose from with seats available for my particular need. Believe it or not there was a class not too far from my house and on that very same day with Bavly Abraham listed as the instructor. The company website was super easy to navigate with everything laid out in such away that made it customer friendly. If you have any problems at all using the website make sure to take advantage of their online chat feature which hosts a company representative eager and willing to assist you. I made it on time to my class and as my foot hit the entrance I was already being greeted by the instructor Bavly. I could tell 10 minutes into the class that the instructor really knew how to interact and teach students with different skill sets and backgrounds. He was an amazing teacher! This was the first time in 23 years working in healthcare that my Healthcare BLS CPR was interesting and above all fun. Bavly not only had a vast understanding of the subject matter but he was able to connect all the students on a personal get to know you level. I need to be CPR certified for one of my classes in the fall, so I had my boyfriend look up places we could go to. It didn't take him very long to find this place and the best part was that when a second person signs up, it is half off of the original price of $50 per person. So instead of paying the full amount, we were able to split the cost and only pay $37.50 per person. I went to class thinking it would be really boring, but it was an interesting experience. The instructor, Richard, made it enjoyable, and since the class size is small, he was able to help each and every one of us without having to rush or anything. The class is set up to be from 8 AM - 12:01 PM, however, we ended at 10:30 AM (which was nice). If anyone needs to take a CPR class for any reason, I would definitely recommend SBCTC. read more

Just finished my BLS CPR class today. I was dreading doing it, but amazingly found myself engaged once we started. The class was presented in a segmental approach which allowed me to grasp the concepts quickly. The instructor, Richard, presented the concepts well. He quizzed us throughout the training to make sure that we absorbed what he was presenting. I greatly appreciated that we had our own "dummies" to practice on throughout the training. There was no waiting to take your turn. The facilities were very comfortable. Class size was small. Personal attention was a plus and they were nice enough to offer complementary refreshments. I thought I was going to die from boredom from a CPR class that I needed to take in order to get SCUBA certified -- because REALLY, I don't PLAN on saving many lives with my CPR skills. Thankfully, though, Richard, the instructor, kept the course engaging, interactive, and relevant! I appreciated the extensive and informative instruction because, while Richard is young, he made sure the application was just as thoroughly mastered as the theory and concept of CPR/AED procedures. The class size is small (which is nice so your instructor can modify their teaching specifically and relative to you!) I loved the special, close attention as well as the enthusiasm Richard had to teach the course. It was a great pleasure to take this course. After class, I am a firm believer that CPR is an important skill; the knowledge to help or potentially save others is impertinent for every citizen! While I still believe I will not be exercising my new life-saving skills often, I am even more confident I'll be ready for that kind of situation, especially after diving. I will be taking this course again with SBCTC in two years when my certification expires. read more

Annie Are You Okay? I needed a BLS CPR certification in order to be a medical intern at the UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center. My instructor, Richard, was very personable and easy to understand. I was very impressed by his teaching style, which was comprehensive, engaging, and effective. When a question was raised by one of the participants, he was sure to explain the skill in several ways and engage all participants in order to promote inclusiveness and ensure understanding of the material. Alright so I took my course here on NYE 2014. My instructor Chris was excellent and knowledgeable. The class is small but clean and appropriately sized for the activity. The medical dummies and equipment were clean as well. The instructor did a good job of seeing where extra practice was needed and spending more time in that area, and moving quickly through the information and skills which we grasped immediately. Chris is an awesome instructor! I finally feel like I could actually save someones life! I have taken CPR training before but I always left feeling overwhelmed. This method is very efficient and direct. I loved the small class, we only had 4 students. We were able to ask questions and Chris gave really good feedback. If you need your CPR certificate, I would strongly recommend this program. NOTE: if you go at night the location is a bit creepy! They have a light out front to help you find it. The inside is clean and nice it's finding it can be challenging. read more

I needed instructors for a large group -- 25 Boy scouts (from 5th gr to 12th grade) and 30 adults. Richard, Jimmy and his group were fantastic. They taught both CPR and First Aid. I have arranged this class for four years and they were the best group we have had teach the troop. Why was this class so great? Here are the main points: 1) The instructors were knowledgeable, down-to-earth, patient, and excellent speakers. Richard and Jimmy taught in a way that everyone could understand. The information was organized, practical, easy to follow, and interesting. They are engaging teachers and incorporated lots of interactive scenarios (for First Aid) and practice with the mannequins during the class. No one felt rushed, and everyone could perform the CPR correctly and confidently by the end of the day. 2) Everyone had their own mannequin, so there was no waiting time to practice 3) There was plenty of CPR practice time. Richard and his other teachers were very thorough in making sure everyone performed CPR correctly on infant, child, and adults. 4) We practiced using the AED machines -- not found in all CPR classes. 5) The First Aid class was taught at the level of the students -- simpler for the scouts, more sophisticated for the adults. 6) The First Aid class let us practice using EpiPens, bandaging, emergency scenarios. 7) Richard is very conscientious and gave a lot of attention to making the class run smoothly. He visited our location site the week before the class to evaluate the rooms and restructured the class so it would run smoothly the day of the class. Everyone who took the class felt they learned a lot (even those that were renewing) and felt it was worthwhile to spend a weekend day getting certified. Our group highly recommends South Bay CPR and will use them again next year. read more
