She, and Deland Animal Hospital, was referred to me by my parents, who were referred by neighbors. I can't stress enough the personal concern and utmost care and respect extended to me by not only Dr. Deb, but the techs with whom I've interacted and office staff, especially Sherry. Kali, a 16-year-old rescue from Hurricane Katrina is thriving and enjoys playing with her brother, approximately 4 years old, rescued after being dumped in our apartment condo. Before any services were performed, I was presented with and signed an itemized estimate showing a specific total cost. After the X-rays were completed, I was informed that the images were inconclusive and would need to be sent to a specialist for review--resulting in over $300 in additional charges that were never disclosed beforehand. My concern is not that additional diagnostics were recommended, but that I was never informed there could be extra costs associated with an inconclusive X-ray result. Had this possibility been explained in advance, I could have made an informed decision before services were rendered. Transparent communication about pricing is a basic expectation in veterinary care. Adding significant charges after the fact without discussing the potential cost beforehand feels misleading, unprofessional, and unfair to clients who are already dealing with the stress of caring for a sick pet. I would encourage the hospital to improve its communication regarding estimates and obtain client approval before incurring substantial additional expenses.

I was told oooops, Dr Garret is not there as promised when we arrived. Okay. Then the consistently nasty receptionist kept telling me she has no answers when I asked questions about the treatment we were about to have. I chalked it up to a high strung, very immature, little girl in probably her THIRTIES, who was obviously overworked and underpaid, most likely, and takes it out on customers. But I needed help for my dog and was now feeling desperate and nervous, so we sat down, waited, but suddenly decided that the stress was just too much for the life I choose for myself and my dog, besides the extreme costs they charge for everything and really below level good care.. . And that I don't need to be abused this way, and really, if this is how they treat the owner who pays the bill, I wonder how much they really care about the animals/patients and in this case...MY DOG... Eventually, we decided to simply STAND UP, WALK OUT and NEVER GO BACK. At INDIAN RIVER ANIMAL CLINIC, they just don't care and are a mess in some way, every time we have gone in. They do not have their act together. They over charge for everything and double charge. They charge for a nail clip and the tech who does it lol?!?? So is your dog supposed to clip his own nails?!? Dr Garrett owns it and beville animal hospital too, but she takes it out of your pet's college fund for sure! And trust me, if it's good for my dog, I'll pay a ransom if o had to, but I've been there for over a year with about a dozen visits for nail clips and exams, it was always a strain with subpar service, attitude and a chaotic front desk, but I gave them a chance. A year.... My boy will be 13 next month, and the level of care and lack of professionalism is not what anyone deserves...certainly not us. So, Indian River animal clinic is "JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH" folks. Not for my dog. Not for anyone's pets. I called Ravenwood in port orange, a half hour drive away, and they told me to come right in. They saw us with a very thorough exam, head to toe! Took five X-rays, sedated him and reversed the sedation, went over the X-rays with me RIGHT THERE, and gave him med for inflammation. All in one hours time. The cost at RAVENWOOD was seriously hundreds less than I was quoted at Indian River FOR LESS X-RAYS and no SEDATION. At RAVENWOOD,from the first contact by phone, to reception, to tech, to doctor, it was a fresh, beautiful, clean and KIND experience. Thank you God! It's worth the drive from Edgewater/New Smyrna to be treated well and with respect, where well paid professionals are happy to be running the show to give your pet the very best. My cat had an emergency right before new years and we took him to Healthy Pets. They took great…read morecare of him. The doctor and his team were so understanding and walked us through the issue my cat had. They were honest and gave us the options we had. He ended up needing surgery and leading up to that he visited the vet 3 times to ensure his bladder wasn't enlarged or blocked and didn't charged for those visits. Everyone was so friendly and kept us informed every step of the way. After surgery, my cat is back to normal and living his best life. I highly recommend this urgent care if your pet has an emergency. I believe they also do checkups so is not only emergencies. Just keep in mind they are not open 24/7.

My dog was bit a couple of weeks ago by another dog and he was seen immediately, treated and sent home with pain medication and antibiotics. He unfortunately ended up developing an abscess and I had to take him back to be seen by the vet. The level of compassion and care the vet and his staff have is very commendable. My dog was treated with dignity and they were so respectful and patient with all my questions and concerns. I highly recommend this place if your fur baby get sick or in case of an emergency.
