It was super sunny and hot, but we had a great time. The raspberries weren't super sweet in my opinion, but they were fresh and lasted days after. They also have a little store that sells berries products like different berry jams, pies, ice cream, fresh berries, honey, and lemonades. Everyone was very friendly and super welcoming. It's a nice spot for a weekend activity with the family. They also have a stand at the local farmers market on the weekend. I tried their huckleberry cinnamon roll and the raspberry hand pie (forgot pictures), and those were both too sweet for me. However, the traditional cherry pie that I got was perfect. It was super yummy! I definitely would go back to do some more U-pick, especially for the gold raspberries, and for the traditional pies that they offer.

Ahtanum Bakery is adjacent to their berry patch in Yakima. Because of the climate, they harvest strawberries, blueberries, huckleberries and Marion berries right through the fall. They have a a u-pick field or you can buy the berries already picked. Every year they participate in the Hood River Valley Harvest festival in October. People remember them and line up for the massive cinnamon rolls, hand pies, scones, pies, decorated sugar cookies and other delectables. Oh, and fresh berries! Prices are a bit high, but the quality is definitely there. These are not mass produced, but made in small batches with fresh ingredients and love.

The cheddar bagel was really chewy and flavorful with the eggs. Next up... the chocolate cake doughnut. It was perfection. Literally. Light and airy inside and a little bit of this crusty sugary coating on the outside. Gave it the perfect texture. I love that. It wasn't too sweet which is HUGE early in the morning. I devoured the whole thing and will get again. I have 3 other items including this delicious looking little apple pie doughnut but I'm full and need a nap. FOOD: 5.0. We both chose the same eclair-shaped Mexican pastry (new to us) that has a banana-custard filling. Outstanding. The banana taste was subtle - just right. The vault is a small shop with a number of different local items available. The main seating area has wonderfully made tables, wood floors that are as nice as anything I've seen in a house, indeed, art, and decor on the wall is creative, warm and captures an essence that is perfectly and uniquely suited to the area. They have the expected vast array of caffeinated delights, a number of food options and even have local coffee, that is roasted on site, for sale. our orders came out quickly, and the staff was incredibly friendly. We have plenty of friends who are driving down here from Yakima on a regular basis. After getting a chance to try the place out, I can absolutely see why! This is literally a spot. It's $6 for a serving - a bit steep but worth it for the quality of what you get - and can be either a bowl of it or as an ice cream sandwich. Serving sizes are solid too. We sampled elk tracks, chocolate, and The Bron - named after the brewery we were hanging at. All were exceptionally well done and left little to be desired!
