It has a ton of stuff, most of which I don't know about. A variety of instant noodles are available. Forget Uwajimaya and all of those other little Asian markets up Jackson. Make the trip to Ranch 99! Don't mind the almost expired stuff, just check the labels and move on... If you especially need meat or fish, this is the place to go. Buy a whole Pompano or Red Snapper and they'll fry it for you to go. Order some steamed rice from their deli and you have lunch after you shop! Seriously, if you and a group of friends are in need of cheap groceries, pack up the car and head up to Ranch 99. Right when you about to finish your shopping, pick out a fish with your friends and have them (for no additional coast) clean it and fry it up for you. Pick up some salt, pepper, and vinegar and head to the lunch deli. Order a pig Styrofoam container of steamed rice and bam! This is a pretty typical 99 Ranch Market. To be honest, I never really shopped here while I was in California. Now that I am in Seattle, however, it's difficult to find an Asian market without driving south to the International District. Since 99 Ranch is a chain, many items are cheaper here compared to at smaller markets. I stopped by here right before going to Costco and picked up some udon for $0.79/each and 14 oz tofu for $1.19. Overall, these prices aren't bad and are more or less what I would expect at an Asian supermarket. I was disappointed, however, that they didn't have any chinese broccoli...perhaps on another day. Will I come back here again? Yes, to get my fix for Asian food and groceries. Thank you 99 Ranch for having locations in Seattle. I never really appreciated your markets in California since there were so many other choices, but now I am very grateful. read more

Image a trip to the aquarium. Now imagine the aquarium has a whole series of touch tanks. Now imagine you can EAT what is swimming at the aquarium! That is what going to the seafood counter at 99 Ranch Market is like. An amazing assortment of fresh fish, just right there. Tanks full of live spot prawns, Dungeness crab, tilapia, catfish, and Maine lobster. In the tanks below there are clams, geoduck, mussels, blue crabs, oysters, and more. Oh, those Maine lobsters? Sometimes as low as $7.99 a pound. I don't think I've ever seen them over $9.99 a pound. But wait, there is more! Don't want to torture a Maine lobster at home? OK, they'll steam it for you - for free. Want a whole yellow tail cod? Oh they sell that too. And for free they'll clean it, cut it and fry it up for you. Giant, perfect sea scallops, $9.99 a pound all day long. Now that is just the fish counter - you'll have to explore the rest of the store on your own. ENJOY! My absolute favorite place to shop. I make Pho and Bahn Mi sandwiches all the time. I live on it. So this is my favorite place to shop. I can get everything I need to make the things I love for so unbelievably cheap. It is crazy how inexpensive everything is. But stay away from this place on the weekends. It is a zoo! You will not find a place to park and you might not even find a shopping cart. And on Monday's the shelves are virtually empty. The shelves get stocked on Wed and Thurs so those are the best days to go shopping there. Trust me. And I really love the deli case. Their roasted duck is awesome! This store really only carries Asian foods. No Oreos or wonder bread. So if you just need an excellent place to go that carries all of your Asian food needs, this is it. I shop here about every 6 weeks. It's prodomately a place where Asians and those who have lived in Asian countries shop for items not carried in American grocery stores. 0I like to pick up Asian noodles, sprouts, a variety of mushrooms that I have not seen anywhere else, 6 Thai tea, the best bok choy, Japanese iced coffee drinks. And try different fish and vegetables/fruits sometimes. I find the prices very reasonable for these items and it's closer than the other big Asian Speciality Market. Also this market isn't as Americanized. It doesn't have gifting nor collectors items and there's no food court venders. You can get cookware items, a few open stock dishes and food & beverages. It's not a place to hang around. I now can get in and out in 25 minutes when I grab what I regularly go in for because it lacks distractions. Nobody looks at me weird. Nobody follows you/me around or questions if I know what I'm buying or my Asian background. Sometimes there's a brief conversation between myself and another shopper like in any grocery as to quality or price of produce or location of an item. I've never had an error on my receipt as I often do in American supermarkets. read more

I just move up north and was excited there was a ranch 99 but this place is hit and miss. Some of the sales associate there are very short and rude. One incident I can remember was when I was looking for a rice cooker, and this old Asian lady who worked there, was walking by the asle, I asked "excuse me" and not even getting the chance to finish my sentence she said "not for sale!" I didn't even get the chance to ask my question, how does she know what is not for sale....thinking back to it is kind of funny but she was not very nice...now when I go I avoid that old Asian lady, the younger girls seem to be more helpful, thus the reason I'm only giving this location a 2 stars. If you go here, you better know what you're getting because no one is going to help you unless you speak Chinese...(I knew I should have learned lol) The Renton location is much friendlier and helpful. Food wise; it's the place to go, fresh food and a good variety of things and very affordable. read more

This review is for the Cafeteria area, I didn't visit the grocery portion of the store. I went in looking for a quick bite to eat. I actually had no idea that this was an Asian Grocery store until I got inside. It's pretty nice in there. It's a buffet style line, you can get all you want as long as it fits into their Styrofoam container. You have to be able to close the lid or they charge extra. The food looked fresh, but didn't really taste it. But I have to admit, I would rather eat this stuff that what you typically would find at a fred meyer deli (that's what I was expecting). The pork with tofu was terrible, it was all fat. The Sesame chicken had a nice flavor but was really mushy... I wonder how long it was sitting there . They did give me a free can of some weird Asian fruit drink in a redbull type can for some reason. Not sure if it was a promotion or what but that was nice. read more

99 Ranch is where I find all my grocery needs- you don't even have to be Asian to like this place. Ok, it's probably not the best place if you are squeamish about seeing live fish & crab in a big aquarium, but trust me, you have to pay $12 admission at the Seattle Aquarium to see the same thing! The prices for veggies and seafood are definitely amongst the best in Seattle. Dungeness crab at $3.99/lb, where else do you find such a good deal? There are down sides to 99 Ranch-it can be over crowded and the displays are probably not the most aesthetic. It may not be as spotless as a QFC, but it is still safe & sanitary, just as a modern supermarket should be. An added bonus to 99 Ranch-just grab one of their weekly flyers on the way in, and read the English translations. I am sure you'll find entries like "Duck-Parts Missing" to be quite funny, and the humor relief will definitely improve your shopping experience. read more

I've been to other 99 Ranch Markets, and was expecting this one on Aurora to be of similar quality and offerings, but frankly found this particular branch to have a rather deteriorating atmosphere, poor lighting, and certain produce offerings that were nothing but disgusting--moldy, old and/or dry. Four stars for Seattle - three or so if this was Vancouver BC. Best things about this place are: produce and soda. This is not a Japanese store, so if you want rice crackers or Japanese snacks, Uwajmaya is the better bet. But for Chinese stuff, you'll do better here. Also a healthy Korean selection due to the huge number of Koreans in Shoreline. In the mini food court there is a HK Meats place that has passable Siu Op (duck) and Siu Yoch (pork). It's run by a couple. If the man is there, things move pretty quickly. The woman, however, is afraid of the cleaver and cuts really really slow. I've found that when on a vegetable hunt in Seattle, it's often hit or miss everywhere. I've driven all the way to Ranch 99, just to find the Gai Lan looking horrible and having to drive to little Saigon (12th and Jackson) to find good stuff. Other times it's the other way around. If you're in Seattle, you may want to stick with going to the various shops in Little Saigon or driving down to the Ranch 99 in Kent - the supporting bakeries and stuff in the Great Wall Mall make it worth the extra few minutes. read more

This asian grocery store is one of a kind! From the authenticity of the spices to the many varieties of Asian American fusion items, Ranch 99 has it with great reasonable prices! Whenever I am in the area. I would always love dropping in and taking a nice walk around to see what kind of snacks I can cheat on my diet with! Their selections of fruits is breathtaking; there was such an abundance of fruits! There is also a little bakery right next to the hot food area towards the left of the entrance after you enter Ranch 99! I hate my palate sometimes because I love Asian food. Here in North Seattle-ish area, there's not a whole lot of good Asian restaurants to choose from (unless you are looking for Korean food). So sometimes I just have to cook it myself. I like Ranch because of the vast varieties of Asian foods but if you like nice people...well... steer clear of that place. Unfortunately, I gotta eat. First of all, some of the customers there are a bit neanderthal. They push carts into you and glare because you're in the way. I watch a lady snap (literally) at a one of the fish employees and started barking orders... something about a fish they want scaled and cleaned. NO WONDER some of the employees had piss poor attitudes too. They have the same exact attitude as the people that work in restaurants and stores in China. It's like they're doing you a favor for being there. Sometimes I feel like I'm inconveniencing them to get a fish or even ring up my stuff. It's not like it's free!!! Sorry for making you do your job! Well, that's my rant. I am Chinese, so I understand how it is. I will continue to go back there when I can't find what I need at Hmart. My wife and I love going to 99 Ranch every once in awhile to stock up on Asian groceries. They have produce, fresh seafood, snacks, frozen foods, and just about any other Asian grocery item you could want. They also have a small food court with hot food, and you can buy fully cooked duck or chicken in this area as well. I always enjoy the frozen won tons, potstickers, red bean ice cream, roasted seaweed, noodles, etc. The strip mall location of 99 Ranch also has several Asian restaurants, and a pretty good Chinese restaurant that we enjoy occasionally eating dim sum at. This is the best place we have found in our area for our Asian grocery needs, I would recommend it to anybody in the area. read more

I would have given this 99 Ranch the standard 3 stars, but I am taking away 1 star for the suck-tacular bakery section. This bakery is NOT an authentic Chinese Bakery. Chinese breads are supposed to be light, fluffy, yet filling. At this bakery, my pork sung bun was oozing mayo (yuck!) and my taro red bean loaf had a giant hole in the middle. Great asian grocery store with reasonable prices. I especially like their produce and fruit selection, but you gotta pick and choose. Some days, it's super fresh, other days, not so much. They also offer a variety of fresh seafood which is great and they have a fish cleaning/gutting/frying service for free up till 8pm. They carry the usual asian snacks and have some meats. I like this place b/c it's better quality than HT mart on aroura and closer than H mart in lynnwood. They also have lots of rotating items on sale which is a bonus. Their inside bakery also offers fresh breads, but it's best to get there earlier, by 8pm (last time we went), they were mostly out. Overall, good place to stop by that carries all the things that you may be craving when you're in the mood for Asian food/snacks. read more

After I've eaten at T & T Seafood Restaurant, I usually need to walk around a bit and loosen my pants so I do that at 99 Ranch Market! They have a ton of fresh fruit and produce and they also have a ton of fresh seafood too! I have definitely picked a Dungeness crab or two from the tanks to eat them :D. The meat department is the only iffy thing here. It does not look super clean to me, and that's why I have never ordered any meat from here. Other than that I love this place!! They also have a restaurant inside that I have never eaten at, but on either sides of it there is a bakery and a BBQ place. The bakery is alright, but their Chinese BBQ is really tasty!! I will sometimes order the barbecue pork, Peking duck, or my favorite, cow tongue!! YUM! Pros: - Fairly clean and well lit! - Lots of fresh produce to choose from - Live seafood and you can pick and choose which crab or fish you want to eat! - Relatively inexpensive...as long as you don;t buy Americna products, like Haagen Daz here :D Cons: - The meat department could look a little cleaner and more sanitary Why I gave it a 4..... I love buying almost all my grocery shopping here! Especially all my "oriental" foods. Besides having such a big variety of things to buy here their prices are very affordable. I actually prefer this Ranch Market than the one in Renton when it comes to buying the fresh seafood, just because it's a lot more organized & less chaotic at the Edmonds location than the Renton one. They have a wonderful produce selection which is where I usually pick most of my ingredients for things I cook or my fruits that I snack on almost everyday. I recommend going there during the days & hours when you know not everyone and their families are grocery shopping because waiting in line could take pretty long. read more

Often I will get some staples at Safeway and get all fruits and veggies from Ranch 99 because they are so much cheaper. Good and bad. If you're in need of Asian cooking supplies, then Ranch 99 is one of the best places to shop. The down side is the shelves are seriously disorganized. It was hard to find a Japanese dry spice, for example, because it was hidden on an aisle with seaweeds. On 12/28/2020, around 1:00 PM. My family and I decided to buy a cake for our sons 3rd birthday. We've never tried the cakes from the bakery before. So I thought why not? The lady who helped us looked like she was in her late 50s - mid 60s. We picked a cake and asked her if she could add some sprinkles on it. She didn't understand what sprinkles were so we pointed to a cake that had sprinkles on it. She still didn't understand so I said it's ok, well still take the cake. While she was putting our cake into a box, she was talking to her co worker in Chinese WITHOUT a mask on while putting our cake together. I don't understand Chinese myself but all I heard was the word "sprinkles" in her conversation with her co worker. Even though I didn't understand what was the conversation was about. I thought it was kind of rude assuming she was talking about US and not safe talking without her mask on. Anyway. We came home, had some of the cake, the cake was dry and old, tasted like it had been sitting out for days / months. I don't think I'd come back to the bakery anymore. read more

It was my son 3rd birthday and my wife had made a customs cake that didn't come through as plan from another business. Now this review is not towards the market itself but only towards the bakery. Anyways we decide to go to the Ranch 99 bakery to pick out a simple cake so much variety and beautiful cakes the lady behind the counter was very rude and couldn't help us in anyway seem like she was more pissed off having to work and on top of what going on in the world didn't even have a mask to protect herself and others. This woman was a much older crazy looking woman with long black hair and chubby build. Soon as her coworker came out from behind the doors off her break they started to talk shit in Chinese about how we asked about adding sprinkles to the cake cause there was a identical one with sprinkles and she kept on avoiding our request. Won't be going back and won't be stepping foot in that bakery after witnessing the lack of safety not only for themselves but for others and if your wondering the cake was trash tasted like it was sitting out for days, they don't make a new one for the customers they just grab the display that probably been sitting there for weeks I've learned my lesson. read more

I do not understand why H Mart got a better rating on Yelp than Ranch 99. I have been visiting both places regularly for five plus years now. The quality of produces is much more consistent and much better here. The pricing on meat is better than H Mart as well. Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Filipino what have you. My kids luv the sweets and cracker's section, my Mom luvs the fresh veggies and fruits. I'd pass walking by the fish section, things look great but gads the smell, not a good experience IMHO. They have a huge freezer section with lots of imported items from Asian and beyond, need Ti or banana leaves for making Laulau and well actually frozen laulau come to think of it. 4 stars because of the smell near the fish section. To Whom It May Concern, On Sunday (April 2nd) evening around 9pm when I was leaving Edmonds store after checkout, a store employee with very bad attitude rushed to ask my family to leave store as quickly as possible (possibly because he want to get off work by 9pm). I've seen this employee used same bad attitude to other customers in several occasions while he was working in the Fish department in different days during past several years. This time he was using same bad attitude to me and my family, I don't think I can tolerate his unprofessional behavior. I have video recorded this event using my iPhone. In the video, he was yelling at me while I was asking him how could he rush to get my family out of store while I had two little kids need to get off the shopping cart safely. When I pointed out that I've seen his bad behavior to other customers while he was working in Fish department, he admitted this without hesitation, and even described those customers as trouble customers! I am afraid he probably used same attitude and bad behaviors for so long time that he already got used to it. It's really a shame that 99 Ranch Market used this unprofessional employee for so long. I've been a long time 99 Ranch market customer, but I don't know if I can continue shop at this store with this kind of employee present. He is the worst store employees I've seen in the North America. I demand formal apology from the Edmond store and that employee as my family and I got insulted by his bad attitude and behavior. On the side note, another store employee was professional enough to separate us in the event. It looks like he is one of the store management team. Because of him, I want to give the Edmonds store a chance, and would like to know how this incident was handled. My request is simple, that bad employee owe my family an apology! I go to Top Food for all my general grocery needs when I'm in MLT. But when I need some specialty produce, seafood, etc and I don't feel like going downtown this is an awesome grocery store. It's fool of funky treats and ingredients you won't find anywhere else. Watch out for the good deals on Asian foods because it is, after all, an Asian market. Drove by here for years before finally checking it out, boy was I missing out. Good selection of fresh seafood and Asian spices, sauces, and other staples. I was really excited to learn that our new home was close to Edmonds where there is a 99 Ranch. I grew up going to the 99 Ranch in San Diego and just always loved going there to the bakery and maneuvering through the busy store. There was just something about the energy that I loved. This 99 Ranch isn't bad, but it's very underwhelming. It's a quieter Asian grocery store which makes for a calm shopping experience, but I like the loud craziness of the one in San Diego. They have a bakery here that has cakes and breads and also a food court that sells things like roasted duck. Their produce section could use some work, but they do carry Asian produce like durian, star fruit, etc. I would go here if I needed something specific, but it's not something I would go out of my way to visit. read more

I love this store. I stock up here on coconut milk, jasmine rice, curry paste, and noodles. They also have a great selection of cheap produce, including my favorite big bag of fresh ginger for $1.50! That price is unheard of at my local supermarket! They have a lot of frozen food such as dumplings, wontons, egg rolls, etc. I've been very pleased with the quality and taste of everything I've purchased here so far.
