Exterior, located in Shoreline - North City (4/12/21)

I've had D'unik bookmarked for awhile. Finally, I visited this tiny Filipino shop, located in Shoreline's North City neighborhood, this afternoon (4/12/21). In contrast to similar shops I grew up with in Bremerton, Foulee's in Seattle-Beacon Hill, and the bustling Fil-Am shop near 150th/Hwy99 Aurora also in Shoreline, this indie business was tiny. I was also the only person visiting around 4pm. The gentleman acknowledged my presence when I said hello entering the shop. However, he was more focused on restocking the shelves. I looked around and took representative photos of the store's shelves. However, there was no Filipino prepared dishes available as depicted by previous outdated Yelp posts. There were two refrigerated cases towards the back that were labelled 'do not open'. I don't know if that's related to the supposed turo-turo service or not. The shop had the various Filipino centric food stuff: packets, jars, cans, frozen goods, Delite Bakery baked goods, fresh produce, snacks, beverages, bags of rice, even a container of brightly colored duck eggs by the register. I did buy a frozen package of longanisa for $11.48. Always tasty with garlic fried rice and fried eggs (homestyle lonsilog). I gave it 3 stars because of lack of interaction plus nothing stood out that I couldn't get from other Asian focused grocery stores or shops closer to home. I'm sure it serves the purpose for the regular customers that shop here though. Not bad, not great, kind of meh. Just needed a visit out of curiousity and to provide an updated post, photos, and business hours.

Little shop serving entry level meals that starts the path of filipino cuisine. Level one begins with your classic chicken adobo, caldereta and white rice. A flat price of 7.50 and one can quickly deduce it's dollars per square box. An instant repetoire as the mini mart offers other goodies of the east to suppliment their already friendly service.

The owners are so nice! I told them I was fixing my tire at Les Schwab and was about to walk outside and they told me to stay and eat in here... They have a little table and they moved items off of it so I could sit down because they said it was cold outside. I ate their beef stew which reminded me of the beef stew my grandmother makes... So good! And they have UBE ice cream here and Pork Adobo on certain days!! Yummy! I'm sold.

The T&T in Lynnwood doesn't disappoint at all. While it is smaller than the Factoria location, we do not personally have any complaints. The place is not always packed like the Factoria location and that is a a relief. We primarily use the food & bakery sections, live fish, and frozen food sections. One can say they are a bit pricier in comparison to places like Ranch Market who have similar options but we T&T is closer to us than Ranch Market and so we prefer to go here as it is more convenient. They are special items during Boat Festival every year and we absolutely love the bun station during this time. This is also a great place to experiment with a lot of not usually found Asian alcohol in main stream supermarkets unless you are specially going to a specialty shop.

There is not as much store space, so there is less selection of everything. I found the aisles to be cramped compared to Bellevue. Even when the Bellevue store is packed, I can meander around the crowds. It felt like a maze at this one on a busy weekend afternoon. There is a 99 Ranch nearby in Edmonds and I do prefer it over this T&T based on selection and price. If you do live close to Lynnwood, I do think it is worth shopping at for the T&T private label products and items that T&T carries that 99 does not. But I am going to stick with shopping at the Bellevue location because it is superior to this one.

The selection of pastries and breads is vast, and they have many classic Mexican pastry options, such as (what I think is called) a concha. They come in multiple colors, but the yellow stood out to me. It's chewy with a slight crunch and perfect level of sweetness and a light fluffy texture. I don't have any other pastry to compare it to, so you'll just have to get one for yourself! The price was great too, the pastry and a bottled water was $3.91. The cashier was efficient. It's not much to look at from the outside, and the inside isn't anything special. I was also hoping an employee greeted me when I walked through the door, but it wasn't a big deal. If you are looking for a quick snack that's authentically Mexican for an exceptional price, make sure to visit Plaza Latina!

Today, I noticed there were new faces at the counter, and I'm not sure if there was a staff turnover. I truly hope this won't affect the service and, most importantly, the quality of the food because that's one of the reasons I keep coming back. My scheduled pickup time today was 11:10 AM. I arrived at 11:00 AM and even brought back the same bag they provided with my previous order. There were already 3 people waiting. Unfortunately, by 11:15 AM, my order was still not ready -- this is now the second time this has happened. I understand that things can get busy, but pickup times matter, especially for customers who pre-order because they have somewhere to be. I had a work meeting to attend, which is why I placed my order ahead of time. My order was finally ready at 11:30 AM -- 20 minutes after the scheduled pickup time. This delay was the main reason for my 1-star review. I also noticed that the sauce portions have gotten smaller compared to before. I hope the team can take this feedback seriously because I really enjoy the food here and would like to continue supporting this place. I just hope the consistency in service, portions, and overall experience improves.

I'm honestly disappointed to write this review…read more I've been shopping at Goodies for about six months now. They sell dukkah (along with other condiments and seasonings) that are hard for me to find, which saves me the time of making them myself. I've also been buying my lamb from them. On July 3, I purchased two packs of lamb chops. One pack was perfectly fine, but the other was clearly spoiled. I still cooked the good pack, but it wasn't enough for everyone to have. I've been cooking lamb for years--I know how it should smell and how it should look. This meat was off. I called the next day to let them know, and they told me they would replace it. I explained that I live over an hour away, so I wouldn't be able to come back until I was in the area again. They assured me they would still honor the exchange. When I came in today, I was met with so much rudeness that I was honestly shocked. I felt embarrassed by the way I was treated. I had really enjoyed supporting this small business up until this point. Because I was so shaken by the interaction, I didn't even realize until I got home that I had originally purchased a six-pack of lamb chops, but I was only given a four-pack in exchange. When I returned the spoiled meat, the woman behind the counter insisted she would "never sell meat like that." I tried to show her the timestamped photo I had taken of the meat when I purchased it, but she refused to even look at it. At one point she said she "didn't know what my deal was," and then suggested it was somehow my refrigerator's fault before asking, rather dismissively, "Well, what do you want?" I'm a very understanding person. When you're selling raw meat, sometimes things happen. Products can spoil. I wasn't looking for an argument--I simply expected for the issue to be handled professionally and with kindness. Instead, I was treated as though I was trying to cause a problem. I'm sure many people will continue to shop here without issue. However, left feeling like I wasn't afforded the same courtesy or respect that other customers might have received. Maybe I would have been treated differently had I looked different. I can't say that for certain, but I also can't think of another reason I was met with such hostility when I approached the situation politely and respectfully from the very beginning. No customer should leave feeling the way I did. The top pack of lamb pictured was perfect. The bottom pack smelled bad and was greenish in person. As you can see via time stamp - I purchased the lamb on the 3rd and began to cook it on the 4th of July.
