I've got to say, this 99 Restaurant in Hingham is top notched comparing to other 5 star restaurants and standing out from other 99 Restaurant we've visited. Very clean, comfortable, well lit and plenty of parking. Excellent service from the start. Greeted at the door and seated in a booth each time we visited. Wife and I visited 2 weeks ago after one shopping at the Shipyard. Looking forward to the pre-meal popcorn. Our waitress, Aimee, was superb. Attentive, friendly, polite, professional and courteous. 5 stars service. Ordered the Prime rib rare. Tasty and cooked to perfection with plenty of Au jus. Wife had the chicken salad. Fresh and tender chicken. Again visited last Wednesday with grandkid who wanted the favorite Mac and cheese as well as take advantage of "kids eat free day after a Red Sox win." Again service was 5 star excellence by our waitress, Erin T, who was attentive, friendly, polite, professional and courteous. Again food was prepared to perfection this time ordering the ground sirloin special rare and rare it was unlike most places servicing medium. Plenty of mushroom gravy. So good! Absolutely delicious. What's even better, 5 stars with budget friendly affordable prices. Highly recommend. Will definitely return to this 99 Restaurant very soon for sure. read more

As far back and I can remember the 99 either is sort of a hit or miss, you just never know what you're gonna get. It sometimes is glorious other times it's like why did I even bother. The other day, We went to this location we got the fried chicken that was so salty. It could stop you dead in your tracks with a heart attack and I got the baked stuffed shrimp. Which the stuffing was good but the shrimp tasted foul. The waitress said they come in fresh/frozen and we defrost them. ( all shrimp come that way.) So I return that & got the turkey tips. They're not really turkey tips. They were more like thickly sliced turkey And it says they're grilled and they're not grilled. They just have barbecue sauce on them, but they were OK. The waitress was super super sweet and very very efficient. They do serve popcorn prior to your meal which used to be just expected now it's just a nice treat. My ultimate goal would be to eat my meal the same time as my company. read more

It is OK. the free small popcorn was nice. The lobster roll was advertised extensively on the radio. In the end, it was interesting. the lobster was nicely warm. I would not use the word colossal. Medium might be good. It came with butter on the side. No bowl to mix it with, no spices. It was thus deconstructed and over priced. Like a good Dutch joke telling you about something you can't have, they did include a nice brochure on the table for a lobster roll deal that I could not have "because we have to advertise our future special". Oh, and I suspect that the mayo-based roll comes with mayo on the side, bring your own celery. Service was ok to good except for the corporate feel that was unhelpful. I felt like Michell Wolf at the 2018 White House correspondents' dinner (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8IYPnnsYJw): It's not ideal, but the monkfish (lobster roll) was fine. Glad it's here. it's an institution. If you are from away, you should try it at least once to see New England. We'll be back when we have tried all the other places in the area or when The Ground Round makes a comeback. I ordered through DoorDash not knowing I could order directly from the restaurant. I was unable to add my request for extra sour cream as well as gravy on the side. It said I had to call the restaurant directly. The young man who answered the phone was very polite. He stated they they usually charge a fee for extra items but would check with his manager. I offered pay the difference. He quickly got back to me stating that the additional items would be suppled with the order no charge and wished me a happy Easter ! I don't mind if, once the order arrives, the items aren't in it. That's just the way things happen when ordering a delivery. This is what you would expect for a chain restaurant. The service is good and the food is decent. The kids love it. The crispy chicken salad was surprisingly good. The salad was much higher quality veggies than I would expect. We got the potato skins and Buffalo wings. The honey bbq chicken wrap is a hit with the big kids and the kids menu is quite sufficient for the little kids. Fast service is what we need for them and it hasn't disappointed yet. read more

99 restaurants are always a favorite of mine, but this one not. I acknowledge that times are difficult with COVID, but the hostess and manager need help with treatment of patrons. I simply wanted a seat at the bar, and place an order to go while enjoying some popcorn and a beverage. Josephine whom greeted me was nice and said "just give me a minute", went to wipe down a small table. I thought I would be seated at that point. I stood there another 3-4,minutes and another couple came in behind me, and even though there were plenty of tables avail were told it would be a 10 min wait by the rude hostess that appeared. They were told to wait "in the bubble" which was the foyer. I was then told to wait with them in the small 8x6 foot foyer and I refused as it was too close an enclosed area for three people. I said I would wait right next to the door inside. (There was plenty of open space and no other people anywhere.) She immediately called the manager whom came out and told me to wait in the foyer with the couple. I walked out as I though they handled it poorly and had no concern for our comfort and safety. Well to be fair I am not big fan of the Fridays, Applebee's, type places although when kids small we enjoyed Applebee's & Chilies. Anyway, was in middle for chicken fingers so we stopped for a quick bite. Yes very family friendly restaurant,, again think a lower level Fridays. Ordered chicken fingers with " gold sauce" and blue cheese on the side. The fingers are a 2.8 very crispy but a LONG way from Tully's if you familiar with that chain. So 2.5 -- 3 is fair here no higher. Cole slaw- good texture but lacked flavor, fries ( get 1/2 order) which were a say 2.8-3. Red wine Cab- forget it- it's have a beer with dinner place. So order of 2 finger dishes, 1 beer and 2 presecco was 58.00 bucks. Service was very good, place is clean. Conclusion, it's not for us. read more

My friends and I were charged for seven $5 drinks when we had only ordered a total of six. There were 3 of us and we each had 2 drinks. When we told the waitress (Britanny), she seemed irritated. She sent the manager over (we didn't get her name but she was blonde, wearing a pink shirt) and she essentially accused us of lying! Her response was that since 7 drinks were rung up, that meant that 7 drinks were ordered. Rather than apologizing , her whole manner was rude and condescending. However, because I was very adamant that we were being overcharged, she begrudgingly took the drink off the bill. Afterwards, we noticed that she and some other employees continued to look over at us and seemed to be talking about us. Literally zero customer service skills whatsoever. This was the location where a special beef stroganoff lit my world!!!! Aside from its diminutive location it enjoys the role placed upon it. Again staff make, break the place...here there seems to be a lack of thought or extra when serving the public. Had dinner there last night and it was pretty good. The service was great as well as the burger I got and the potato skins appetizer. I was there by about 5 PM on a Sunday night so there was no wait to be seated. I did notice however that about an hour later when I was leaving the dining room began to fill up and there were a few parties at the door waiting to be seated so it's best to get there kind of early especially on the weekends. Not really sure what happened, 99. You used to be pretty darn good. I think those young whipper-snappers you got workin' there now are killin' your biz. Luckily for you, you have plenty o' experienced in years folks coming in to sit at your tables and overtip. Here is what I mean: my uncle doesn't want soda spilled on him. My aunt shouldn't be told that she asked for honey bbq sauce when 7 other people at the table clearly heard her ask for honey mustard. My uncle's best friend shouldn't have to wait until we are leaving to have someone ask for a box for the food he has left over. My steak tips should be medium, not half raw. If margaritas are the special of the day, it should be okay for the bartender to put at least 1 shot of tequila in the glass, right? I mean, come on 99!! 99, you are one of my Nana and Pa's fave eateries. They love the food. It is your reg'lar ole American pub-by food. It's fine. My broccoli and cheddar soup was tasty. My Nana loved her chicken wrap. My uncle really liked his roast beef au jus sandwich, and our family friend really enjoyed his pasta with chicken. Even though my cousin did not enjoy the shrimp toscana (she was tricked into ordering it by the picture), the food was overall good. Well, my steak tips were partially rare which made for an interesting gum-like chewing and choking experience. For family style chain restaurants, the Ninety-Nine always seems to stand out ahead of the pack. Better than most of it's competitors, and this Gingham location is no exception. We were very promptly greeted by our server with complimentary popcorn and drink orders taken. I ordered the "All-Star Burger", which was a very juicy patty topped with lettuce, tomato, bacon, onions, and pickles. Very tasty. Fries were good, but pretty standard...nothing stood out about them. Same with the cole slaw...pretty standard. I wish they offered "double fries" instead of fries and a veggie like some other 99 locations do, and I wish they didn't have the rule about not serving burgers any less than medium. Went here yesterday, reluctantly I will add, due to an awful experience when they first reopened after the old one being completely replaced. My husband wanted a steak and I bit the bullet and said OK. Well, except for the hostess who referred to us as "You guys" 6 times before we were seated, I was VERY pleasantly surprised. The manager came and watched as the Royal Steak was cut into and he declared it far too rare for medium rare as ordered and he whipped it away to be corrected. My salmon, broccoli and baked potato were excellent and the petit lemon dessert with whipped cream which the attentive server suggested was delicious as was the superb coffee. The Irish nachos weren't great, but at least they were edible. Their new Three Cheese Nachos are terrible! The queso is disgusting and ruins everything else. Food is fine, the same at any other 99 restaurant. Good buffalo wings. There's a great honey mustard chicken salad. The service at this particular 99 is usually pretty lacking. The last time I was there the waitress brought the wrong dish out to a member in my party (she brought out a fish fillet and the person had ordered a chicken sandwich) and seemed very confused when my friend explained the situation. That is when she returned 15 minutes after dropping off the food. She didn't even walk by once for us to grab her attention. Let me start by saying that of the chain restaurant's, 99 has not always been 1 of my favorites, but last few times I visited here food and service have been excellent Went there Saturday evening, and even though parking lot was full got seated pretty quickly. Wish I could remember the waitress name as she was great, made some excellent recommendations, was very friendly and efficient. Food was excellent, cooked as I requested, didn't have dessert but did have the coffee, which I waited a few minutes for because she was brewing a fresh pot. Dining area and bathrooms were spotlessly clean. Definitely recommend this location and will be returning here again read more

Eh....not so good. First, there are no vegetarian options. I wanted pasta w/o the meat. Was told no. Odd. Then, I ordered nachos as my meal (because there are no main meatless entrees).
