We keep coming back here because it's still my 92-year-old aunt's favorite spot. She always orders the haddock and is consistently happy with it. On this visit, we also tried the French onion soup, rustic bread, and a house salad with chicken. Unfortunately, my chicken was very dry. I probably should've gone with a burger, which I've enjoyed here before, but I've been trying to stay on a bit of a health kick. The soup was a bit bland, and while the rustic bread was just okay, it's not something we'd order again. Service was good, and we'll likely be back--especially with my aunt leading the charge. Based on the reviews, I was a little skeptical to come, but MAN I'm happy I did! We are not from the area, so I had no idea. This was actually somewhat of a chain restaurant, but when you walk in, it has a very homely feel. In addition, everyone is so friendly from the bartenders, to the servers, to even our fellow diners! And the food was excellent! My husband got the ground steak, and I had my first ever buttered Lobster Roll! It did not disappoint, and I was super impressed by how much meat they gave you. Our kids had the cheeseburger and chicken fingers meals and they were free because the Red Sox won the night before! What a cute incentive that we also knew nothing about lol. We had a very disappointing experience with our server, Larssany. From the beginning, she never once asked if we needed anything or if everything was okay with our food, while we clearly saw him being very attentive to other tables around us. It felt like our table was simply ignored. Another issue was the way he handled the dishes. Every time he brought something to the table or removed plates, he would drop them onto the table instead of placing them down properly. Since the table is made of wood, this created a lot of unnecessary noise and felt careless. When it was time to bring the check, he didn't show any basic courtesy. She didn't say a word, didn't ask if we wanted anything else, and didn't even acknowledge us. She simply dropped the check on the table while walking by on her way to another table. I haven't been here in quite a while, and I was happily surprised with the outcome. We were a party of four and we sat at the bar. They give you free popcorn at the bar. The drinks were flowing and the food came at a decent pace. Everyone was happy with their food and drink. We were surprised with a trivia contest. Congratulations to my daughter who came in first. . My experience is based off DoorDash, so I can't speak for in-person dining. My husband and I had an evening flight into Boston and got to our hotel around 8 pm. We decided to get DoorDash for an easy dinner before calling it a night. I'm horribly gluten intolerant, and I was thrilled to find this restaurant had several options. *Introduction* I've gone here a few times and 99 is basically a lesser quality version of Applebees. I knew what to expect what going on and had no problems at first. I walked in and there was no hostess in sight. I waited a few minutes and a hostess arrived. She was unfriendly and didn't seem like she particularly liked working there. I said to myself, 'okayyyy strange but maybe she's having a bad day...' I asked for a window seat and she barely looked at me as she said follow me. She then proceeded to walk past a few open tables with window seats and then found me a table all the way in the back and said 'if you give me a few minutes I can clean this off for you.' I responded, "actually we passed a few tables. What about this one?' She was surprised and said 'oh okay sure! " Overall, I didn't get the sense she liked her job...not a fan. *Part I: Warming Up* I sat down and waited and waited until a waittress came. She didn't say her name and her energy is low maybe even irritated. Long story short, I placed my orders and kept it a friendly tone as she went back and forth. She even helped me charge my phone. Thank You! ...I ask her for her name and smile. We do a little bit of small talk and now she's opened up to me. It's a good vibe. The food itself was okay. I can't complain. Great portions but mediocre quality. I knew what to expect going into 99 restaurant so I had no complaints. Fast forward, I am getting ready to pay the bill. I put an order to go for my mother. And then Jocelyn (who I had no real issues with up to this point) hands me the receipt with instructions to PAY ONLINE. I proceed to enter in my mother's card information and it doesn't go thru. I try it again and it doesn't go thru. **My mother immediately calls me telling me it went thru TWICE. *Part II: The Issues* I tell Jocelyn that the charge went through twice can you double check. At this point things got unexpectedly hairy... First, she comes back saying it didn't go through it all on our side. I said I know but it went through twice on mine. She says "i'll be right back." At which point I never saw her again... Instead a random guy I never met comes to my table demanding payment saying that credit cards don't work with their online payment system. He doesn't introduce himself. Doesn't apologize for the issue. He says we have to use a physical machine for credit cards. I say 'okay not a problem.' The man never comes back... What bothered me though is why in the hell would Jocelyn/the restaurant give me a receipt to pay online and not mention anything about not being able to take a credit card? Because my irate mother is on the phone asking the same damn thing. So here I am waiting for Jocelyn to come back to the table (it's now been 20 minutes) and she is no where to be found. I don't even see her in the restaurant and I can even see the kitchen from where I am standing so she didn't pick up and serve any orders either. *Part III: The Waiting..* So here I am waiting and waiting and waiting. Other people are being served. Tables are being sat. The hostess from before is walking past me still a bit unbothered and slightly irritated similar to Jocelyn's immediate energy. At this point I begin to notice that some of the staff that use to work here (at the same time) are not here. I begin to wonder if this place has low retention and bad management. At this point it's been 40 minutes if not longer. Keep in mind, I've already eaten and I've been ready to go since I ordered the food to go (over an hour ago). So I am sitting there for an hour basically waiting for Jocelyn to come or for management to figure it out. *Part IV: The Other Guy* Instead, ANOTHER guy comes to my table. No introduction. No nothing and just starts off going 'so we haven't received payment on our end.' At this point, I am bit baffled by how rude the management is. No one in management seemed to give a f- about the issue nor have a regard for customer service. Added with the mediocre food I was just so disappointed and furious at the disrespect. Meanwhile, Jocelyn had left me almost an hour ago while I was waiting for her to come back. It 110% felt like she was hiding from me...so it made the whole situation unnecessarily awkward and just was a poor show of professionalism. I never ever bring up a fuss in a restaurant and again the whole thing felt awkward because just before this I was sitting there telling Jocelyn about my mom and smiling back and forth with her but the situation was so apalling, the customer service was so disrespectful, and the management was so poor, that when the SECOND manager came to my table (with my waitress nowhere to be found) with no introduction but simply 'so we haven't received payment on our end' I go 'well, did the first guy explain the situation?" So Summer is almost upon us. I sat down for a lunch break and saw their "collosal" lobster roll. Collosal my ass. For 20 dollars, they put a few pieces of lobster and a ton of celery. That's not the worst part. The bottom was stuffed.. STUFFED with lettuce and they hid it quite well with the minuscule amount of lobster meat ( which by the way, was all knuckle and some claw ). I'm on a business trip in Boston for a few days. A group of us headed down to the Sand Sculpting Festival- we had a great time there. I normally eat at Kelly's when I'm in Revere- I was craving a lobster roll, or the fresh shucked oysters looked amazing too. When my colleague says she made us a reservation in a nearby restaurant, I was hesitant. It was such a pretty day. I was hoping to sit outside and enjoy the great weather. She takes us to a restaurant that reminds me of a sizzler from the outside, the inside wasn't much better cosmetically. I am glad I sucked it up and stayed with the group. Our food was surprisingly good. We all added on to our meals- I think it was called add 3? 2 of us had the baked scallops and 2 had the warm butter lobster roll. We all added the seafood chowder. The baked scallops were good, my friends said the lobster rolls were good as well. I still think the Kelly's one looked better- but this one is warm. I may need to come back and try it. Our meals came with a nice petite dessert as well. Our server was friendly enough- but he kept calling us girls. I found that grating after the 3rd time he said it. I noticed a pamphlet on the table, advertising happy hour. Monday-Friday. 3-6 and 8-close I noticed other tables had popcorn. Not sure if everyone gets it usually, we weren't offered any. We had plenty of food. Plenty of parking. Seems like were the locals hang out. Also noticed a banner when we left that kids eat free when the Red Socks win. That's fun to cheer for the home team. My family likes the 99 because there's something for everyone. Really disappointed lately. About a month ago, we went and I ordered the sliced sirloin that I have ordered numerous times before. Always comes with potatoes and carrots. It came out without a vegetable and we asked about it and the waitress denied that it came with anything else. Today I visited and ordered the prime rib. I asked for a bistro salad for one of my sides and my waitress said it would be extra despite the card on the table advertising the prime rib with the salad as clearly being an option. They wouldn't allow us to sit on their empty, makeshift, parking lot Covid-19 patio with our small, leashed service dog. The dog is allowed in the parking lot but not the area of the parking lot they have coned off for a "patio"? It's not like it's always a patio and this is just their "rule". There were zero other customers on this "patio" at 7:00 on a Saturday night, yet we were still turned away. We fully respect restaurants who have outdoor seating whose license doesn't extend to pets, but this is not the case here. Stoped by this 99 on my way home from work, sat at the bar and was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and especially the service!! The bartender (Jessica) (glasses,blond) was so sweet. She was busy but still made it over to me quick, so I was impressed. She was friendly and seemed to know everyone at the bar (a lot of regulars I think), but still made time to ask me how I was and continually check on me. The food was delicious, it came out not completely as ordered but was caught by the bartender before I even noticed and she fixed it immediately. I got a bbq chicken sandwich. I've enjoyed going here for a long time. I generally eat there once a week since some of their specials are very affordable. Average food but fairly priced. Last night I decided to try their take out service for the first time. The cold food really didn't disappointment as much as the 4% charge I received for taking the food home. 4% charge? I do not understand this since it is less expensive for me to take the food home rather than take up a table and have the services of the staff. I know 4% doesn't come out to very much but it is still an extra charge that leaves a bad taste. Last time for me, there are other places to pick up food that do not charge extra for pickup. Waiting 15 minutes before being asked what I would like to drink, waiting endlessly for a bar check, trying to get a bartender's attention as they chat together at one end of the bar. The last time I was there the slim number of people seated at one end of the bar were left without any service a long time. At one point one said aloud ' Is she ever coming back down here? '. It's bad. There are a couple good bartenders, one a young man who really knows his stuff. One of the female bartenders is good but I rarely see her. The others just really should not be bartending. One of them is outright surly. I took notice the last two times I was there was absence of the regulars who would once be there without fail on a Friday night. The food is still good. I haven't been to this location in a long time. I love the new décor and booths. Our waitress was very friendly. I was sad to find out they do not have Angry Orhcard on tap. That is the only beer I like during the fall months. The waitress suggested I try another beer with a hint of cranberry in it. Thanks!! It was a great call and didn't even taste like beer lol. My friend and I had some mozzarella moons which were a yummy start to the dinner. Being Friendsgiving weekend we both decided to treat ourselves to a seafood combo dinner which was very good. I think the 99 really does seafood dinners well for a local chain restaurant. We ended the night on a sweet note with an apple crisp type dessert. I stopped into the 99 with my son. Their infamous buffalo boneless buffalo wings were calling to us. So we ordered the potato skin/buffalo wings sampler for 12.95 a cheeseburger meal with fries and my son got chicken mac n cheese. The food was just really bad. The fries tasted like fish and old oil, the wings tasted like they were sitting under a heating light, the potato skins looked like they came off someone's plate and microwaved. The meal was just horrible. I don't know if it was the location, because as a rule we go to Charlestown and never had an issue, but revere 2 stars and only because the waitress was awesome. If we could put her in the charlestown location it would be perfect. So disappointed and a waste of money. read more

We like the hi-tops in the bar, with open views of whatever sports are on TV.
