The 99 Restaurant is a chain restaurant throughout Massachusetts (and I believe New England) which is praised by and large for its American food and focus on interior decor themed around the town or area each restaurant location is situated in. This location does a good job representing many of the pictures, streets, and feels that make it reflect the town this one is in: Tewksbury. You'll find many pictures of the local school sports teams and street signs among other memorabilia. It's a nice thing they do and makes it feel like each one offers something different to look at for every visit to a different location. It makes for good conversation and gives those with their eyes glued to their phones a reason to look up, or at least, it did for me. This location in particular I come to about once per year for my birthday. I get the same thing I have for over a decade: the XL order of boneless buffalo wings with fries. It took a tad longer than it usually has in the past for the food to arrive and the fries with my order were forgotten about, however, this was swiftly corrected and I received them within 2 minutes of the chicken. The chicken was relatively crispy with a nice savory buffalo sauce and the fries are well-salted and have their own crisp as well. The food maintains the quality it has for over a decade, at least, in the case of my usual order. To be frank I haven't tried most of their menu, so go out and explore it. I'd be curious if there's any other bangers on that menu. Considering the consistency with my usual order, I don't think assuming most of their other foods are served just as well is out of the question. The staff are always swift to get you seated and to take your order. Aside from the slight hiccup with the fries, our waitress was kind and able to answer any questions we had. Ordered a couple meals via DoorDash - received in a completely sealed bag with my itemized receipt attached that stated 2 sides with my buffalo chicken tenders dinner - fries & rice pilaf... No rice pilaf to be found... Not to mention no plastic cutlery /utensils provided... delivered to a hotel... 10/10 would not recommend. read more

Burrrrp -- overall, this lil' food critic was pleased + satisfied with the cuisine served to him at 99 Restaurants, recently. Upon arrival, the hosts seemed peculiar + somewhat terrifying. . .but after my party of 10 hungry lil' dinos forgot about the experience, it was time to CHOW DOWN! Lady Samantha Periwinkle ordered the garden salad + a lone (but savory) cup of French onion soup -- "Exquisite!" She proclaimed to her table of fellow diners; some of them disguised in their lies. Professor Clifton-Berry lll enjoyed an order of XL Boneless Honey BBQ Wings -- "Iconic!" He shrieked across the dining room, frightening a teething infant. Potato skins here are good too. Manager was a snot. After waiting for our food, the Waitress comes to us to tell us the soup I ordered is not available. She tells us that they can substitute a different soup. That was ok. By the time I finally got our meal, my wife's meal was cold. We didn't complain. Then when the bill came, we noticed they charged us for a soup which was supposed to be included. When I complained, the Manager got an attitude like I was trying to scam them for free soup? The Waitress was civil and understood our complaint. The Manager walked away mid conversation. We have frequented the 99's since their start. We worked around the corner from one for years. We will never go back to Tewksbury 99. Btw, where we live! read more

My food was good, but i got the wrong order at first and the waitress named Barbara gave me and other customers a BIG attitude. She seemed very very unpleased with the tip and gave us a face when we gave it to her. We gave a 2 dollar tip (let me remind you, we are teenagers) and she goes "two dollars?" and gave us a look. She was also very fed up with the fact that one of us had an allergy that they cannot control. I do not recommend having her as your waitress unless you want to be complained to. read more

Very good meal at the 99 in Tewksbury Saturday evening. The house salad (5.79) was great, cold crispy and plentiful with a solid blue dressing. The haddock dinner was surprisingly good which came with a nice russet mashed potato and creamy coleslaw. Our server was tremendous! ALEXIS was personable, efficient and did not rush us. She is one of the reasons we will be back. It was nice to sit in a relaxing atmosphere with out loud music playing. Thanks! read more

Went there for lunch and brought my mother. We went 3 weeks ago and she loved the seafood trio and was so excited well she asked the waiter for it and he said sorry it's no longer on the menu... They are taking everything that was good about the restaurant off the menu... First the chicken broccoli and ziti then chicken corn chowder now the seafood trio what's next The gold fever wings....??? I overheard the table across from us ask the waitress for the lobster roll and she replied oh I'm sorry we just gave up the last ones about an hour ago we have no more. The 2 ladies got up and left to go somewhere else. I can't believe it it's only Monday and they don't have a lobster roll it's June 7 are you not gonna have them for the rest of the season it's ridiculous. Time to close these places down I guess they're not gonna have anything left on the menu. Very sad! read more

We frequent several of the 99 chain restaurants regularly. However, this location in particular has consistently been a disappointment. From the rank smelling bar area, the dirty bathrooms, the Horrific service, our orders coming out wrong, twice! This is a poorly run, sloppy, badly managed restaurant all around. read more

A good standby when you don't know where to go. Veggie Burger Review - this is a good decent Black Bean Burger. Burger is probably one of the frozen ones, but it is a good size and thickness. Taste is great with a little spice and bits in corn inside. One of my favorites. A good Veggie Burger when you just want a (Veggie) burger and beer. Oh, and decent beers too. Had lunch there on a very quiet Saturday afternoon . We sat at the bar, there were only 2 other people besides us. Ordered steak tips medium rare. They were honestly inedible. They were cooked perfectly but whatever they were marinated in was so salty and strong , s as did bad tasting , I couldn't eat more than 2 bites.. my husband tried a piece and was disgusted. The bartender never came over to see if we needed anything or if the food was okay. In fact , she disappeared, nowhere to be found. She finally came over, asked if I wanted a box. She could see I hadn't eaten any of the steak. I said no, and before I could say anything else she grabbed the plates and left. My husband actually wrote "gross " next to the steak tips on the bill. I would think that during this pandemic it would be important to please the customers who come in to your business, but clearly at the 99 this is NOT the case. read more

Every 99 is similar. This is why I enjoy it so much. You know what you're going to get at any location. The updated nachos are really great. The older ones were good but with the larger tortilla shell on the bottom is a great addition. My son loves the mac and cheese here. Also, the bubble tea is a stand out hit on the kids drink menu. PLEASE do not remove it. It would be cool if after every Bruins game or Celtics game win kids could eat free. Why only do this in the summer months with the Sox? At least try to get that deal going with winter sports teams. read more

We had a great experience at this location. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was terrific. Probably the best steak tips I've ever had at any restaurant and everything was fresh and delicious. Very impressed and the 99 will be our new go to. I usually like Chilli's or Applebee's a little better but I need to rethink that. Try the steak tips...superb. read more

The first time I walked in, I was amazed at this restaurant's size. That made more sense when I read some other comments which said this used to be a Weathervane. It still feels like one, to some extent. The seating is very spacious. We were greeted by a very enthusiastic host, and as we walked past the bar I saw it was full for trivia night. The wait staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and work well as a team; our waitress was a lot of fun. The servers were, however, inconsistent. The one who brought us our appetizer looked like she wanted to be at a party elsewhere. We got this combined look of disgust and despair when we asked for plates to go with our appetizer. A different server who brought us dinner completely made up for that. It looks like the cost of appetizers has gone up again, so the Free Appetizer coupon is well worth it. We got the Boneless Buffalo Chicken Wings, X-tra large, normally $10.99, which had a nice kick but not really enough celery accompanying them. I ordered a fried seafood combo ($13.49) by mistake when I wanted a baked or broiled combo, though it was okay. The fish and shrimp were fine, as was the small ramekin of New England clam chowder (though the bag of oyster crackers was bigger than the ramekin). The clams casino, unfortunately, was very greasy. No problems at all with the other order, a fried chicken cutlet dinner. All things considered, an okay meal, a good deal with the coupon. read more

We each had a lobster roll and it was great. The waitress was good. Just be careful when walking on their sidewalks. All crumbly and dangerous. I'm not sure why they allow that. Went with a friend who just broke her leg and she tripped. Be careful. Until they fix it, I will not go back. read more

I had my first ever lobster roll here, during my first trip to MA. I was NOT disappointed. The lobster roll will give a shrimp po' boy a run for its money. Very meaty, flavorful, and filling!!!! I am new to the area and was not familiar with this chain. After seeing the sign popping up here and there is my travels over the last few months, my partner and I figured it was time to check this place out. The interior of the Tewksbury restaurant was pleasant in a sort of corporate restaurant interior sort of way. The young lady that served us was perky and polite. The food was a great disappointment. I had their seafood chowder. It had a vague Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup taste to it with barely any discernible seafood floating in the bowl. The burger was decent, but I asked for medium rare and was served well done. The fries were greasy, luke warm, and sported one shake too many from the salt shaker. My partner's pepper soup was the best part of his meal. The ravioli served with his braised beef was gummy, although the beef was good. For dessert, the brownie he received seemed more like undercooked chocolate cake batter a la mode than an actual brownie. We walked in with no expectations and left feeling like we had just eaten at another Friday's/Bennigans/ corporate chain clone. Sorry to say, 99, we won't be visiting you again. read more

This is the place to go with your elderly mother or grandmother. Not a good place to catch a bite during the week. The food is awful in quality and quantity. All their meats are smothered in dressings and seasonings. This and Applebee's are my two least favorite chain restaurants. All the food tastes like it was frozen then heated in a microwave. read more

Sitting at the bar gave me a new perspective of the Tewksbury 99 - the bartenders are funny and make it a point to get to know us and joke around. Yeah, it's a way for them to get a bigger tip, but hell, it worked. They were entertaining and brought us round after round of beer, even with my friend's special request of an orange in her Blue Moon. I found the 2001 Boys Indoor Track Team photo and saw some of my old running mates . . . now to find the Girls Indoor Track Team photo, or the Volleyball or Tennis ones. I LOVE the 99 in Tewksbury! It's as perfect for taking my 95 year old grandmother for lunch as it is for trivia and drinks with my friends. The food is great. They don't have a ton of vegetarian options but I love the new caprese sandwich they offer on the lunch menu, and if you ask nicely,they will make it for you for dinner too. The staff is always outstanding, I've never had a bad experience. I love the bartenders and there is always a fun crowd at the bar. I highly recommend the 99 for lunch, dinner or drinks! read more

Went a few weeks ago. The male hostess totally ignored us. I told the girl at the register I would like a table for 2 and she pointed to the idiot that ignored us. He told her where to seat us. He was so rude. I felt like I was inconveniencing him. After being seated we had to wait a good 10 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order. Quick service, friendly staff. We had pot pie and chicken parm and bother were super good. Chicken was crispy and not store bought chicken patties. This chicken was better than olive gardens. Pot pie was perfect the crust was perfect. Staff was super nice to my kid which means a lot to me. I almost didn't come here and I'm glad I did. The 9.99 plates are huge. Had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. Not sure why. There was nobody waiting ahead of me and there were plenty of tables open. Once seated, the waitress brought crackers and cheese. My husband and I were enjoying our little snack until I saw that there was something clumpy in it. Not sure what it was, but that got put to the side quickly. In fact, the popcorn that the other customers were getting smelled and looked much better than the crackers and cheese. I proceeded to order the 6.5 oz sirloin steak with sautéed mushrooms and onions (optional) mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and a side order of shrimp to make my meal a surf and turf. Everything was very good. However, the shrimp could have been a little bigger and maybe grilled or sautéed in butter and garlic rather than dipped in batter. The little samplers reminded me more of a popcorn shrimp appetizer. Not shrimp I would use for a surf-n-turf. My husband ordered the prime rib with au jus sauce, sautéed mushrooms (optional), mashed potatoes, and corn. He liked his very much. Overall, everything was delicious. Went here for dinner and sat at a high top in the bar. The bartender/server we had was friendly and attentive until his shift ended. We moved to the bar and waited over 20 minutes for the bartender to even notice us. She had plenty of time to sip her frappachino, pretend she was hiding texting, and chit chat with the hostess and trivia host that had saddled up to the bar once it was over. It's uncomfortable to need to raise a hand and call someone over just so you can get you check so you can go home and pour your own glass of wine because it will take less time to get it.
