From the minute I walked in with 8 visually impaired adults to the moment we left, this establishment took excellent care of us. I immediately noticed a food pantry box for donations in the lobby as well as a Lions club eye glass recycling box and I felt right at home, thinking this restaurant is committed to community out reach. Our meals came out fast, our waitress Angie was a power house and chatter quieted down offering a sign that everyone's food was hitting the spot. I personally loved my well done flatbread pizza as i am a crunch -a-holic and they honored my request. As we were leaving I found that they have a regular visually impaired visitor and then it all made sense. Nicole and Angie your hearts make this home town eatery and bar a very welcoming place. This place is an old folks home. They yell at you if you swear, there was an elderly woman doing karaoke which they have two nights a week and it's just a one old person after another singing, and this old woman got off the stage in anger because two hot 20 something year old chicks were singing with her, and she said they were "disrespectful". I said, "Who do you think you are, beyoncé? This is a public place." Then her elderly boyfriend gets mad at me and tells me to shut the F up. And then she adds to her argument "they are drunk". I was like, "Yeah it's a bar... What the F do you expect?" Totally killed the vibe for me. If I have to go to karaoke at a bar and at 11:00 p.m. have elderly people complaining that there are beautiful drunk woman there... Then that is not a scene you will find me at. One down, who's next? Like they say nothing lasts forever. Out with the old in with the new. This place used to be a biker bar and now it's literally a home for the elderly. Also the food has a slight freezer burn taste to it. You can tell it's cooked well as far as the technique and the idea of the dishes but there's an overall freezer burnt taste that lingers. I can tell you right now they're not going to be there for long. So many businesses come and go and you can just tell when a business is on its way out. It was our first time at TJ Callahan's and we had a good experience. Once coming in we were told to sit anywhere which we did. My wife ordered a water and I ordered a Starry soda ($4.00? Ouch!) Which came promptly. For an app we had the chips and dip. Fresh made in store potato chips with a French onion dip. The chips could have used just a touch more salt, but even so were warm, crunchy and delicious! For entrees my wife had the steak tips that were tasty, a rice pilaf and fries. All good. I had the shepherd's pie that came out SCREAMING hot! Once it cooled it was delicious. The mashed tasted home made, the beef well seasoned and the veggies, well, were there lol. Definitely an establishment known to the locals, I would say the ambiance was not great as a dinning room with table space far apart and oddly arranged. Probably to make room for a dance floor and performance area. The bar looked nice. We decided on French Dip and it was tasty, but plain. Not the result of slow roasted, hand cut sirloin (but why was I expecting that). The fries did not appear as pictured on another yelp review, which perhaps set my expectations high. 5 Star neighborhood bar/pub for casual eats. Consistent every time. Food is really good. Fresh ingredients. Great daily specials. Salads are large and a full meal or you can get a generous side salad. Mac and cheese (plain, buffalo, bbq, lobster, steak tip) all are amazing. Sandwiches, chicken wings (teriyaki, garlic park, Jamaican, bannock, dirty sauce) are fantastic, my husband likes them double baked. Drinks are great. Draft beers, specials, wine, seltzers. I've never been with a friend that couldn't get what they were looking for and loving it. Bands on weekends never disappoint! They get top choice local bands. We've been in to hear rock, country, cover, and acoustic performers and every band over the years has been fantastic. We've had events in the side room with food and catering is as good as the food on the restaurant. The room is inviting, with a private bartender and bathroom. Staff is friendly and efficient. The food was fantastic, had the turkey club and their homemade chips. Absolutely fantastic, the sandwich was fresh and the chips were amazing. This place has the burgers & food around. Very friendly people come here. Always good vibes in the air. I put a bumper sticker on the community bulletin board about deaf people. It was just all good humor. I'm deaf and many deaf people come here. The sticker was no intention to defame or insult our deaf community. It's all about perspective. We came here on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty busy. I got the haddock Reuben and my husband got the burger. Both of us got 1/2 fries and 1/2 onion rings. Just moved to the area. Went here for an early dinner. Food was amazing. Clearly fresh made. Had the fish and chips and it was amazing. Everyone was thrilled with their meals. There was still steam rising off the burger and the egg was presented just right so that you could see the yolk. The egg was crispy around the edges, giving you the extra texture that you're looking fo in a breakfast burger. Bun: 10 Points 10 This Kaiser roll was a mix between the steamy filet of fish bun Mcdonalds boasts, and a well pressed bun that was crisp on the inside. The bun held up well and didn't fall apart throughout the whole meal Meat: 35 Points 35 Juicy and flavorful, the waitress told me they do a special method to ensure all the juices are still in the burger when it's served. Thick cut bacon added well to the burger. Cheese: 20 Points 15 At first, I didn't notice the cheese. But about 1/2 way though I got the cheese explosion. Sauces: 15 Points 15 The egg yolk was the only sauce the burger needed. Messiness: 5 Points 5 Virtually no mess, even with the exposed egg yolk. Went out on a date with my wife, first night out with a babysitter. Ordered 2 beers one for my wife one for myself, was told that I looked like I was on drugs and wouldn't serve me anything. Horrible judgement call by the manager. Will never spend my hard earned money there ever again. read more

From the beautiful woodwork decor that can't help but catch your eye when you first enter this awesome, New England, Irish sports bar, to its charming and cheerful staff and owners, delicious and plentiful pub foods on the menu, Knock-your-socks-off drinks and its "Never have I seen a band I haven't liked yet!" Live entertainment weekly...Do I really need to suggest anywhere other than TJ Callahans as THE place to go when you're looking for THAT place to leave your day behind and have a great night out? Places like this make me realize I have a stick up my ass. This pub looks like a place that should be on tv for a bar rescue show - everything is dated from the pink Formica tables to the mismatched wine glasses. They had a football game on the tv's but I swear if they didn't have the game on - they would be blasting Journey songs. As I mentioned in my tip - they have red & white wine. Don't ask for Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Pouilly Fuissé or Semillion - they have red or white. They don't do craft beers and the most exotic thing I saw was Amstel. All of their food is fried - it is now 10pm and I have to go run for two hours in the hotel gym to just attempt to burn off some of the calories. The service, however, was extraordinary! Our bartender/waiter was wonderful! He had a great personality and he needed it to put up with us. He was delightful & did everything to make us happy. I wish I could give this place a few more stars - but it's the stick.... It prevents me from giving it anything higher than 2. I'm spoiled by the great pubs in Philly, Baltimore & NYC with their extensive menus and fully stocked bars - I'm sorry Tewksbury, you have an amazing bartender, but that's about it. read more

Steak tips = Yum! Go check out TJ Callahans in Tewksbury if you have not been there before. They have a nice staff and the best steak tips around. When there I would say try the Shepard pie it is on par or above the other restaurants around. They have live entertainment most nights of the week and special performances for St. Patrick's day and other times through the year. Karaoke and Live bands are what keep this place rocking. read more

Cheap drinks, hard-drinking atmosphere that seems like it could get out of hand occasionally. Friendly service. Food just OK, but fairly priced. Nothing fancy, but comfortable and spacious. But when the bill came and they said that the computer system was updated and didn't accept gift certificates. Thats a no no. What if I didn't have a credit card or cash on me. Little did we know the creepily friendly dude behind the railing was actually the bouncer needing money for a cover charge. As I got to the bar I was welcomed by an unfriendly bar tender (rudely) asking if we even got carded, then asking me to repeat the order that I had just told her. We then asked for some darts to use on the empty dart boards they had hanging, we got in response "did you bring your own darts" when we replied no, we got a rejection.
