I ordered the Tofu Vermicelli and received a delicious, generous portion! The vegetables were fresh and the tofu was seasoned well. I also ordered the Vietnamese Iced Coffee and had never been served one this way before! It was a fun & interactive way to enjoy a great cup of coffee! I can absolutely see why this place is always packed!
Last time we were at their old location. Since then they moved to this new location. Much more modern and clean. I actually didn't put two and two together until I wrote this review and realized I'm consistent in my rating with giving the 4 stars. 999 Pho is 10 minutes away from Reno airport. They have a variety of items from rice to pho to chow mein to rice noodles to sandwiches. We ordered: Ox tail pho ($18) - came with a few small ox tails. The broth was clean and sweet. Dice beef filet mignon ($18) - came w rice and veggies. Seasoning was alright, could be more aromatic and bold, as well as tender texture. Keep in mind that take out orders under steam rice/broken rice is an additional $0.50 charge. Our table also order spring rolls and stir fried rice noodles. She meant to order chow mein but pointed to the photo so it came out with the flat rice noodles. Last time we were at their old location. Since then they moved to this new location. We popped in here for lunch right before our flight back to LA, and it was a solid choice! The restaurant itself is super spacious, airy, and really clean. Plus, the service was fast, efficient, and friendly, which is exactly what you want when you have a flight to catch. Food-wise, we got a big bowl of the beef pho (pho bo) and a vermicelli bun with grilled pork. The pho broth was awesome, really authentic, flavorful, and hit the spot. The only downside was the grilled pork on the vermicelli; it just wasn't that good and lacked flavor. Overall, it was a really good experience and we left satisfied and full before heading to the airport. Definitely a reliable spot for a quick, comforting meal in Reno!
2/2 Came back to one of our favs with some friends. Was greeted immediately and sat. Nice big table for 4 of us. Service was great and quick . Forgot to get server name but was excellent . Food came out pretty quick . Got some Firecracker shrimp as appetizer, very good nice and crispy . Got my combination vermicelli and a Thai iced tea with boba . My food was delish and everyone else enjoyed what they got as well. All in all was a good evening with friends and good food . Enjoy !!!!
999 pho doesn't disappoint. Healthier choice than other places to eat out for sure. This time we tried the pork buns and fresh spring rolls. The buns were unique and had a soft sweet taste to them. I am glad I tried them. The spring rolls were too bland for me, even with the dipping sauce. Just needed something. We got biscuit beef broth pho. lOVE the plate of fresh veggies that you can throw into the soup and love that you can add your own spice and flavors. I am so amazed at how much food you get there. We shared a bowl of pho and it was plenty. 5/5 for flavor right there! I had my eye on others that had huge bowls of vermacilli noodles that I will be back to try next!
Visiting from Honolulu where there are a lot of pho restos to choose from. I was in the mood for something soupy and my friend took us here as it's one of their favorite places for pho. Arrived on a Thursday at abt 1:30pm. Half full, few tables of Asian families. Good sign! We were promptly seated as a group of four, given menus, and iced waters without prompting. We ordered the #13, 14, 16 and oxtail soup, plus spring rolls to share. And an iced coffee for me. I was pleased to see condiments and utensils readily available at each table. The chili sauces look homemade? Food came out within minutes. The broth was tasty, the beef was tender, and the noodles! Thin and chewy. Just the right portions. Iced coffee was strong and delicious. I didn't taste MSG in the broth. Service was efficient and courteous, all staff were smiley. Bright and spacious, looks clean. Bathrooms were clean too. It was a good place for a first meal in Reno!
Food? Always delicious. Service? HORRENDOUS. I've came here an and enjoyed the service but ever since the new management has taken over, there is no sense of customer service. My wife was looking for what to drink and the waitress tapped her pen so loud against her booklet like we were wasting her time. I argued with the waitress about what noodles were what and she just kept fighting back. I've never had this happen in my life. They have no sense of saying "you're welcome" when you say thank you. They just ignore you. Also, the DEFINITELY don't check on you to see if you need anything else. You even have to get up and ask for a box because once you put the order in, they completely forget about you. I'm infuriated with the service. What trash.
As someone who's eaten pho across the Bay Area and all through SoCal, if you want the closest next best in Reno, you have to come here. I will always recommend the #11 (Pho Dac Biet): thinly sliced raw beef that finishes cooking in the broth, springy beef meatballs, and rice noodles all in a well flavored bone broth that's subtly sweet, clean, and deeply layered. Herb plate came fresh with crisp bean sprouts, basil, cilantro, jalapeños, and lime. We also got the durian and strawberry boba smoothies, both blended thick and tasted delicious. The durian was rich and funky (in the best way), the strawberry was not overly sweet. Portions are generous and the value is unmatched in all of Reno. Service was fast, friendly, and accurate every time. Beautiful restaurant, it can get crowded but there is ample space throughout the interior so it never feels cramped. This is THE spot in Sparks. Not even a debate.
It remains a staple for best go to Pho in the city. It's a great environment, friendly customer service and consistency every visit. The owner practically knows my wife and I upon arrival. Lol The restaurant in terms of ambience is what you'd expect, moderate to loud, but their service is fast, accurate and remarkably good with great portions. The combination Pho, one of my favorites, has delicious broth, tender protein meats and fresh veggies to add on the side. 999 Pho is always worth it in terms of value. Glad to have some friends along for the visit today.
Best Pho spot in town no doubt! The quality of the food has always been great and consistent, the service is great too! My favorite has been #11 for years, then is the vermicelli noodles.
My husband and I have been to this restaurant twice and both times the food has been tasty. It seemed more authentic than other locations we frequent. The service was okay. We were sat promptly but after being seated and having ordered we didn't really see anyone. The restaurant is also very loud and echo-y. Overall, it's a good place for pho if you're okay with the noise.
Came for dinner at 5:25 pm and it was packed! I was 5th on the wait list but due to lack of staff to take and bring orders, we weren't seated until 6:10 m. Unfortunately, they had 1-2 staff members taking orders and another team of 2 ppl clearing tables. One person was cashier and another woman making beverages. Some patrons left, as we could see the empty tables that had not been cleared and it was clear that they were very busy and understaffed. Food quality and quantity was good but that wait was def hard, as ppl were hungry and they clearly had the seating capacity. Restaurant staff were very busy so they not super friendly. I removed a star due to lack of staffing and service. Some patrons got up to get their own water and our drinks did not arrive until 30 minutes later. Items ordered Potstickers - just ok but quantity in the order was good Combination bahn mi - just ok. Meat quantity was average but because the pickled daikon and carrots were placed inside the bread, it fell apart fast and got messy. Bread bun was light and did not tear up the inside of my mouth. Bun Rieu - I forgot to ask for no blood but I just put it aside on a plate. Good amount of protein and good flavor. Chicken pho - plenty of noodles and chicken but chicken was a bit dry. Rare beef pho - good amount of meat and noodle #47 rice plate - great flavor of meats and a solid dish. Fresh squeezed OJ x2 - These were fine and kids enjoyed them Vietnamese iced coffee - always a great choice
Been a while since I have been to pho 999, but I was reminded they are the best pho in Reno! So glad they moved location to south Reno and I will be able to eat here more often. The new restaurant also looks fantastic! I got the rare beef and bun Bo hue and they both were amazing. Great depth of flavors and they put so many fresh ingredients in there. The portions are outrageous, and you could definitely share one. My only suggestion is I wish they were on a food delivery app, but I do understand that not every restaurant feels that is the right move for them. Amazing pho, and I can't wait to go back!!

Don't judge me - I went to a pho place and DIDN'T get pho. Call me crazy, but when I get a large steaming bowl of broth with meat and toppings, and sit at a nice big table with all the condiments and special spoons, with all the aromos floating about, it enhances the experience. Taking home a smaller container of broth than what you get if you ate there, with everything packed up, risking the spill on the drive home, only to probably have it sit on the counter for awhile before getting to dig in... not how I like to eat pho. So I ordered some takeout stir fry "chow mein" and pot stickers from Pho 999 in Reno NV, and this is the review of it. I ordered at 5:30pm on a Friday night, got my food at 5:45pm, and was able to eat it at 6:15pm so it was still reasonably warm. First, the pot stickers. They came with three different sauces, something I appreciated. Some bitter chili oil, sambal chili paste (I assume) and some kind of sweet and savory sauce I couldn't identify. Kinda akin to teriyaki but not cloying and sticky, purely liquid. Which I didn't mind at all, it was delicious. As were the pot stickers. A little crispy, tasty filling, perfectly seasoned as you could eat then by themselves. Now the combo stir fry with "chow mein" noodles, and shrimp and beef. The stir fry combo is fully customizable, something I like. Many different noodle options and three meat options. What I got did not appear to be what I ordered. To the average American, these are egg noodles. Flat, wide, soft, no char whatsoever, which not what you would expect from chow mein. Did I like them? They were ok. Is it what I pictured? No. But I've ordered chow mein at Pho places in the past, and got exactly what you expected chow mein to be. These were not. They were cooked well, salted adequately, and took to additional sauce well (I added the sweet/savory sauce from the pot stickers). The rest of the stir fry I ordered was good, though they included all three meats, chicken beef and shrimp. I didn't want chicken. Kinda leads me to believe the person cooking got confused, put the wrong stuff, and just kept cooking the same batch. The veggies were cooked perfectly and there was a good mix of them. There was a appropriate amount of meat, not excessive or under whelming. But that is how I was left feeling after eating at Pho 999, which makes me a bit sad. When I picked up the food everyone was really nice, polite, and welcoming. The dining area appeared clean. I had fully planned on going back and dining in So I could experience fresh pho in person. But, I have to judge my experience based off of what I asked for, and what I got. Pot stickers were a 5 out of 5. Definitely would order again. The fact you get ten of em for under ten bucks is really nice. The stir fry "chow mein"? 2.5. they weren't bad, but they weren't great. Just ok....and for $18, just ok is unacceptable. Final rating? A disappointing 3 out of 5. I hope when I go back to try the pho in person I get a better experience than I had today. read more
I have started hitting 999 Pho pretty regularly as it is hands down the best pho in Reno. They have a pretty large menu and I am excited to start working through it, as nothing I've had is anything short of amazing. This time I went with the Broken Rice Combination Plate and we shared a Combination Banh Mi. Both were delicious. This is the first time I have gotten something other than pho and it didn't disappoint. The pork chop was cooked perfectly, the pork skin was tender, and the shrimp and egg cakes both hit the spot. They are fast and efficient with their service! If you go on the weekends, you're likely to be 2-4 tables back on the list, but it usually flies by. The food is ready QUICKLY. Overall, decent Vietnamese food. For a pho place, their other noodle soups were just as good. If you're ordering something other than pho, I'd recommend the bún riêu or bún bò Huế. The Vietnamese coffee is strong but very sweet, so it's great if you're into that. The one dish that didn't stand out was the rice plate. Service was excellent--the waitstaff and owner checked in to make sure we had everything and that the food was good. Everything came out quickly even though it was busy. The space has a slight industrial vibe and feels bright with a friendly energy. Overall, a solid spot for Vietnamese food, especially if you stick to the noodle soups. read more

This spot is ALWAYS busy, so plan accordingly. This review is based on 2 experiences I've had - both dramatically different. The first visit, I had a 5-star experience! Service was friendly and prompt. The pho was tasty but the real winner was the crispy pork buns! They are an absolutely must try, but I prefer it without the mayonnaise drizzle. The spring rolls are good - nothing too special though. Staff kept checking in to ensure I was doing good. The second experience, was quite the opposite... we were sat in the corner at table 24 and were repeatedly forgotten about. It took us 20 minutes to get an order in, another 20 to get our food. By the time we received our food, a group that arrived after finished their meal and another group was being seated. We kept flagging people down to fill our waters but that took another 15 minutes. At that time, we placed a to-go order, and it was not communicated that it would be at the cash register. So we picked at our food for another 30 minutes, waiting for it to show up at the table. The food is good, but the service made it a 2 star experience. If that's how it is all of the time, I would highly recommend looking for other options. read more
It's so nice to have a fun restaurant to go to. 999 pho is that restaurant. Went here with a couple friends at noon and the place was packed! I'm not sure how many people it takes to reach capacity but 999 Pho probably had at least 100 guests! Only took 5 minutes to get a table and the servers are all over it. I ordered the duck salad and it was fantastic! My friends were happy with there choices. Friendly waiter, good food and very festive atmosphere. I just love this place! read more
Busy place, friendly employees, the food are delicious. I ordered the bun Rieu, new item on the menu. It's good. Can't remember the last time I ate bun Rieu at a restaurant. But I'm glad pho 999 offers bun Rieu, it's not common in Reno / sparks area. Bun Rieu, is tomato base soup, with meat balls that's is served with pork meat and crab paste. I like it, savory broth, fresh herbs. I'm looking forward to try their banh cuon on my next visit. read more

This review is for their Pho ONLY. Consistency is STILL an issue! I always enjoy their Pho, but the standards and consistency issues that I mentioned in my previous reviews are still a problem, which I will describe ahead...the jury is in and I'm disappointed...again. Just to reiterate, I always order a #11 Combination Pho...that's my go-to. ($16.50) [Beef Broth With Rice Noodle Pho. Rare, flank brisket, tendon, tripe and beef balls] I like all the different proteins in a Combination, especially the tripe/tendon and always expect a reasonable amount of them in my serving. The pros: The broth is still very flavorful, you get a nice portion of the standard accoutrements (basil, cilantro, lime, jalapeno and bean sprouts) and there's still a good amount of broth/proteins/noodles/veggies...it's a nice portion size and prepared well. The cons: The meatballs: their standard serving is still 2 pieces of meatball, not adding up to an entire meatball. As I stated previously, that's ok, they're flavorful and reasonably large pieces...I'm good with that. But, the tripe and tendon? The first few times I visited their original location, there was an acceptable amount of those in my Pho...not as much as I would like, but they were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The last 3 visits, including this 2nd visit to their new location? Only 3-4 small pieces of tendon and no tripe to be found in the previous 2 visits...and absolutely NONE in this latest visit! Let's revisit what happened on my previous visits: The last time I visited the old location, I mentioned it to the cashier when I paid and was kind of shrugged aside...didn't receive an answer...or an explanation...or an apology with a promise to rectify it on my next visit. The previous (1st) time I went to the new location? The cashier (manager?/owner?) tried to tell me that I was wrong...that she's watched the Pho being prepared and that they always put the same amount of tripe and tendon in every serving. I told her that SHE was wrong and reiterated what I had received on this visit. She actually told me to find her on my next visit and that she would ensure that I received the correct amount. My question is...and I can't stress this enough: why would I have to do that? Wouldn't it be easier for management to instruct the kitchen staff to prepare it with the correct amount every time? Why would I get special treatment while other patrons don't? This most recent visit? I didn't look for anyone to get any kind of special treatment. I ordered and expected them to get it right, as anyone else would do. I received my food with NO tripe or tendon whatsoever. The manager?/owner? was touching on tables and she stopped to ask me if I was happy. I told her no, I hadn't received what I ordered and what I expected. She said that she'd check my ticket and check with the kitchen. When she came back...about 10-15 minutes later...she said that I had received the wrong order and that someone else got my order! (and I'm not sure if I really "buy" that excuse) The ticket she showed me was correct...the right item and the right table number. NO CONSISTENCY!! The one saving grace? She apologized and only charged me for a "standard" Pho... As I said, I plan to return...I enjoy the Pho...I'd just like them to be consistent and give me a reasonable portion of what I order/pay for! I'm giving it 3 stars this time, my rating changed because of their lack of consistency... As always, this place is always busy and bustling, with a nice vibe...the kitchen and wait staff still don't look stressed or frantic, which leads me to wonder...again...why the inconsistencies? Consistency is the hallmark of great food service...I'm hoping that they can fix it and justify me returning...I have other spots that are just as good...if not better...and are consistent. read more

Love this place SO MUCH! I come back for the salmon sweet and sour spicy soup OFTEN. It's so goood, but it does have bones in it, so be careful eating it! Golden pork buns? DELICIOUS! Get it. Cool rainy day in Reno, perfect for a bowl of pho. We have wanted to try 999 and it seemed like a match made in heaven. We walked in and the place was packed. Reminded me of a street market in SE Asia with the sounds, smells and crowds. Only missing someone offering a Lemur for a picture. Don't know if it was the rain or normal great. Waited about five minutes for a table. We both decided to have pho as that is what brought us in. I had the combination and R had the rare beef. Both were delicious. Beef broth was very complex with the usual sides and sauces to adjust it to your liking. Proportions of broth, noodles, meat and sides were right on. We'll be back - rain or shine. Next time we'll venture onto the rest of the menu next time - if I can talk myself out of the pho. read more

The pho comes fast and it's always consistent. Get the beef ball pho with tendons, with extra noodles and you won't regret it. Also, don't forget they have fresh coconuts as your beverage. Top: come during off peak hours as they can get pretty busy. read more
I've been hearing the buzz about this new pho restaurant in South Reno that is a busy place. Who knew a former pizza and taco shop could turn into one of the best pho restaurants I've eaten at- and so close to home! I went on a midweek day pastthe typical lunch hour closer to 2 PM and got right in but there was still a fair amount of people in the restaurant . I stuck with my usual combo vermicelli bowl that I get at other restaurants with the barbecue pork, shrimp and eggrolls with the wonderful, salty sweet vinaigrette sauce, and chopped peanuts on the side. I was amazed at the size of the bowl when it came out and as I had a short wait for my meal I marveled at the other dishes that were coming out of the kitchen- potstickers, a lot of varieties pho soup itself, and a very large plate of egg omelette with pork and shrimp that was almost too big to fit on the table. The pork was tender and not too overdone or saucy as in some places I've tried. The only complaint was it took me a while to get to the bottom of the bowl to get the taste of the vinaigrette sauce once I put it on and it was a bit hard to stir. Could've almost used a bit more vinaigrette. The staff was pleasant and service was fast and attentive but I have to say I was a little confused wondering how to pay, which was at the register and bring your table number. We went into 999 pho on the recommendation of a friend who wanted to go there. It was packed on a Sunday in there. The food was very tasty. They were very quick in getting it ready for us. The waitress is waiters and the owner were very attentive. The owner was working just as hard as everyone else. It always is busy when we drive by and looking at the parking lot. It is in the Winco IHOP shopping center on the south end of town. It does have easy access into the parking lot. You may need to park in the overflow of Winco's parking lot, but they do have plenty of parking. We didn't have to wait for about 15 minutes, but that tells me that the food was great. They were able to serve large parties and they are quick. It was very tasty. We will be back. read more

Banh mi was great. Cute place. I will try another Boba Durian was a stretch/risk o won't do again. But that's the fruit's fault, not their fault. The food came out like 10 minutes before the Boba, wished it woulda been same or sooner. Will come again. read more
Walked into this restaurant with a full house it was packed so I knew I came to the right place. The selection was great for a Vietnamese restaurant. I recommend their Bun Rieu and fire cracker shrimp and Vietnamese coffee. I didn't really enjoy the Bun Bo Hue as the broth was too sweet for me. I think this is a great place to stop for quick Vietnamese food! read more
We just landed in Reno and this was the PERFECT place for us to get some grub. It was packed out on a Saturday night, and I don't think I've ever seen a Vietnamese restaurant be this busy. Luckily our local friend had gotten us a table prior so we snuck past the line. They keep track on a standard notepad of when you walk in which I found amusing. We got their shrimp spring rolls, hubby and I got pho and Bun Bo Hue. Spring rolls were 5/5 - sauce was a perfect balance between hoisin and peanut. Soft and delicious. First sip of pho broth almost took me out, just pleasant and on point. This might've been THE best Bun Bo Hue I've ever had outside of my mother's. That broth was delicious and everything about that dish was amazing. It was savory, spicy, herbs and everything nice. I could only eat half and took the other half home. It was one of the best Viet restaurants I've been to in all my travel and I understand why they are so packed. Can't wait to go back when I visit Reno again! read more

This business moved from Kietzke Ln and replaced what was Rusty Taco. If you've read my other Vietnamese "Phó" reviews, then you'd know that I love Pork Vermicelli with shrimp. I've ordered food from here about 3 or 4 times, all To-Go. Haven't had the pleasure of dining in but that might be in my future. The meat to vegetable to vermicelli ratio was just right and one is enough to fill you up (in my case). The meat looks "redder" in my opinion but tastes good nonetheless. An egg roll is also included with it. When you have a craving for Asian food, 999 Pho is sure to be in the top 5. I'm glad there's more variety of food options in S. Reno so we don't have to go far for good food. read more
