He got on the roof and went into the attic and reassured me my roof was fine. I still didn't know where the leak was coming from. The next day Matt called me, although his role was over and there was no roof issue to repair. He said he had been preoccupied trying to figure out the leak source. He suggested I call my insurance company to file a claim and have them look for the issue. My carrier surprised me and came out the same day (Dec 31). The leak was found on a cold water line and immediately repaired. They sent water restoration people (also Matt's suggestion) who took over to address any moisture and begin to rebuild the wall and floor section that had been damaged. I am so thankful I met Matt! He is one of the last honest and caring artisans I have met in recent years. His voluntary follow up with us shows me that some people still have a conscience and do care that working people don't get cheated. Not a fan at all. My…read morebasement had flooding issues and when I tried to bring this to my elderly parents' attention, they somehow decided to finish the basement, despite the musty smell and this seasonal flooding for 20 years. I was hoping that maybe Hivex would identify this issue and maybe back me up on this point before they fully converted it to a rentable living space. But they didn't. We then got a huge rain which left visible signs of flooding and standing water on the basement floor. When I told my Dad, he said it was due to Hivex mopping the floor. I was certain that Hivex would help clear this up and attribute the water to the recent storms. They didnt--they confirmed (lied?) to my dad that it was due to their mopping a few days prior. So then they started installing the framing for the drywall, despite the smell and standing water. I knew the project was doomed at this point because once the drywall went up, that moisture would be sealed off behind it and the mold would just flourish. That's when we got the biggest storm in Spring of 2025 which resulted in catastrophic flooding of the basement, leaving zero doubt about the flooding. (This is also a common-sense issue in our area, which has heavy clay soil). We hired a basement moisture company to deal with the seasonal flooding but we had to remove the framing to install the dewatering trench at the base of the wall. At this point, they were really behind schedule. The price was outrageous. Over $80K. My friend just finished his basement and oversaw the drywall, electrical work, cabinetry, etc. He did his basement, which is larger, for around $20,000. The mark up was huge and I was really expecting more. Hivex is for people who love to spend money. Little things they missed: 1. Basement door will not lock and the GC never coordinated with the basement moisture people as to who's fault this was. I thought the GC was supposed to solve things like this and not let things fall through the cracks? 2. Ceiling fan is supposed to reverse during the cold months. This feature is broken which really sucks in the winter time, when all the warmth stays on the ceiling. 3. Faucet was really loose and I had trouble correctly tightening it. Frustrating for a few weeks as it gradually loosened and I had to keep fixing it. 4. The reverse pump for the bathroom was not even sealed. There was a visible gap on the lid of this device and the smell was AWFUL for a few weeks. My aging parents cant smell anything so they just said I was crazy. After a few weeks of this smell, they finally had someone come to seal it. This worker seemed very honest and he said it was bad they missed this. Nasty Hivex. 5. They have really bad deals and poor quality when it comes to their cabinetry and kitchen design options. (Cheap stuff designed to maximize profits). They also refuse to work with whatever company you went with for the cabinets/hardware/faucet. Again, whats the point of the GC if they arent coordinating with everyone? We went with IKEA and it was SO chaotic and horrible. Its basically an automated company at this point.

Man was I wrong. After I was happy with my job, the next day all the original tape started to peel off. I would have to redo the whole garage and I didn't have the time to do it. I was referred to Mike and he came by and explained that since the tape was put on 9 years ago it was peeling off with the new mud. His crew fixed the garage in two days. I also had a detached garage 30x40 that needed drywall. He completed that as well. After the job was complete I noticed a small crack that had developed. Mike came by and fixed it. He said that it could have been cracked while the attic was being insulated. Not only did he fix it he found several others that I could not see. He fixed everything. I referred him to one of my neighbors and the next day he brought me some fresh fish from his fishing business. Mike is a standup guy who did a great job with follow up after he was paid. Very good to work with.

Hired them based on YELP reviews as I had been so successful utilizing reviews for many other…read moreservices. So I need to be fair and honest with this so others don't get left with a job half done like I did. The quality of work and care was not there. The first day 3 guys showed and one room was presented as done (the primary). By the end of the week on a job that was quoted as around 3 days, not one entire room was completed, but instead two others started and left. Plastic was laid down on the floors and over our belongings that had been cleared to the center of the rooms. The job was to paint the upstairs hallway and 3 bedrooms with Farrow and Ball paints (which I supplied along with rollers and new buckets). Prior to them showing up, Cullin had called The Paint Shop in Warrenton inquiring about Farrow and Ball paint as they had not used it before. He told me how much to purchase. I bought $2500 worth of paint & primer. The first day he showed up he asked for half payment and a signed contract, which was not discussed prior to his arrival, and this was while the other to guys were prepping the upstairs for the job. There was a lack of communication about this job start to finish or unfinish. It turned out that the very next week Cullin and the two other guys showed up and worked at break neck speed to get out of this project. Upon inspection while everything was still very wet and them "cleaning" I found many items they needed to redo. For the back room they had very little natural light and no proper equipment to effectively see to do a good job in this room. It was admitted by Cullin later that this paint was quite different than Sherwin Williams paint, and now know they should have never accepted this job. I am also concerned with the reviews because Cullin has no idea how to calculate paint and how much for a job! I am left with nearly all the paint! The Paint Shop said it was not their place to tell a "professional" painter how much paint to use for a job. Cullen and his crew did not in fact put two coats down in each room, because if they had, more than a half gallon would be gone and they would have needed the three of them to show up that Tuesday instead of prematurely pulling out of the job on Monday. During this job there was staffing issues where only one guy would show in the late morning leaving at 3 or 4. Additionally these paint cans were brutalized as ladders and so I cannot even resale them. My paint key I provided for all these cans also walked. The closet doors were not completed as the hardware never arrived until after they left the job on Monday. Once we started to put the rooms back, we noticed several areas not even painted and certainly evident that no two coats were used since you can still see the cut-ins. There are a slew of minor other untouched imperfections that real professional painters would not have left. So this is the honest review that should have been posted long before mine. This was not a great value for the $4600 paid not including my $2500 in paint. Also, a proper second coat cannot be obtained that quickly on Monday (read Farrow and Balls directions). You know what they were good at? Caulking and talking on their cellphones.

The deck has failed miserably! After 11years, the pressure treated wood has rotted, it is not safe. We are just waiting for our building permit and the stairs and deck will be replaced, but not Prestige! The actually offered nothing as far as a warranty or even a break on a rebuild! I was told by Alex, if they replaced the failure of the installations they have done, the company would go bankrupt! Now, not all the decks and other structures they have done have failed as horribly as ours. They did offer me an estimate to do a new deck, my answer was no even though they cheaper than the company we are using! Alex also told me it was not his companies fault but the government because the arsenic was removed from pressure treated wood. H e did fail mention that the grade of wood that was used was not not premium wood. They used cheaper wood but still charge for a superior product, that is the only explanation for such a horrible failure. They should have offered to replace the structure at their cost if they cared at all about customer service. And no, we didn't count on it the replacement being paid for, we are completely prepared to cover the cost!
