We had Prestige build a deck and fence when we lived in Stafford so when we moved two years later back to Spotsylvania we hired them again to add a small deck, 6x4, and a vinyl fence. The deck has failed miserably! After 11years, the pressure treated wood has rotted, it is not safe. We are just waiting for our building permit and the stairs and deck will be replaced, but not Prestige! The actually offered nothing as far as a warranty or even a break on a rebuild! I was told by Alex, if they replaced the failure of the installations they have done, the company would go bankrupt! Now, not all the decks and other structures they have done have failed as horribly as ours. They did offer me an estimate to do a new deck, my answer was no even though they cheaper than the company we are using! Alex also told me it was not his companies fault but the government because the arsenic was removed from pressure treated wood. H e did fail mention that the grade of wood that was used was not not premium wood. They used cheaper wood but still charge for a superior product, that is the only explanation for such a horrible failure. They should have offered to replace the structure at their cost if they cared at all about customer service. And no, we didn't count on it the replacement being paid for, we are completely prepared to cover the cost! read more

I had a deck removed and a screened porch with vinyl windows installed. Over the four years since the porch was finished, I have had four roof leaks. Three were addressed by three different crews, including the last crew replacing shingles with regular nails that protruded through the wood planks of the roof along with the shingles. The fourth was blamed on a non-existent tree branch, the workers applied roof tar, and the roof continued to leak. The leaks next to the house were ignored. I had to spend $2800 to have the roof replaced with (a) the appropriate sized flashing against the house since the one used by this contractor was half the size it needed to be, (b) roof sheathing of plywood over the interior wood so that if anything did hit the roof, it wouldn't cause a hole in a thin layer of shingles that was placed over boards that had gaps between them as they cured, and (c) replacement of gutter guards that weren't appropriate. The last set of leaks happened because the gutter guards collected twigs and leaves and material under the shingles, which ultimately created a path for water to pour on the furniture and the floor. My request to have this investigated was met with a bill for $160 since they determined that it wasn't their fault. My roofing contractor indicated otherwise. It's a darned shame when you spend almost $30,000 for something you've wanted for a long time to have it done incorrectly. I haven't even touched the failure to relocate a light appropriately or to address the damage done to seating wall lights on my patio. I wouldn't with this on my worst enemy. read more

We recently used Prestige Deck and Fence's expert fence construction crew to install a fence in our backyard. From the second I clicked "request an estimate" Prestige's customer care and service was ahead of the competition. I received a call to set up and estimate within ten minutes of submitting the online form. Without naming names, there are several fences companies in the area that I literally still haven't heard back from. Jeff came out and measured for our fence and discussed fencing options, he was exceptionally helpful and informative. He provides a nice packet providing you were current information regarding their certifications, insurance and bonding. After reviewing our fence plan, we decided to make a few changes, in fact this decision came even after materials for our fence were ordered. There was no hassle whatsoever in ordering the extra/different material. The Prestige team promptly changed the site plan to reflect the changes and supplied us with all the info needed to immediately submit our plans to our Home Owners Association. Prestige's construction crew started the project and finished the project on time. The gentlemen were in our yard for two and a half days. Each day they arrived and left promptly, answered any questions and addressed any concerns I had and left a tidy work site. They constructed a high-quality, level fence on our partially wooded and uneven lot. The gentlemen were exceptionally careful when stretching the garden wire across the split rail to keep our bird dog inside his fence. There are no gaps and absolutely zero clearance between the wire and the ground-- no temptations for the pooch. We recently used Prestige Deck & Fence to install a new vinyl fence and arbor in our back yard. We obtained three bids and found that Prestige not only had the best price, but the best process. Instead of waiting until installation to call Miss Utility, they called ahead of giving us an estimate so that we knew their proposal was feasible and weren't left with any unwanted surprises during the installation. They also helped us assemble the approval package for our HOA. The team that came out to our house was great. They worked quickly, but carefully. As well, they cleaned up after themselves and wouldn't leave the job site until we were completely satisfied with our beautiful new maintenance-free fence, which was manufactured right here in Fredericksburg. What to make of this: read all of the excellent comments in these reviews and contacted this company via its website about two weeks ago. I received an auto-reply about a day later stating that they would contact me shortly. Then, nothing. No contact at all. Unfortunately, the only thing I can rate this company on is "responsiveness" and since it did not respond at all, I can only give them one star. Plenty of other companies out there want to build fences and decks, some quite good, so, sorry Prestige. January 20th: One day after I posted the above I received an email from this company asking me to call them if I needed more information. Disappointing initial contact. I was really exited about what they might have to offer. It appears they make have grown too big and comfortable with their current client base. They WILL NOT bend AT ALL to attempt to meet with you to earn your business. While I can appreciate there "values" of not working in the evenings and weekends or providing consultation appointments during this time, this limits their opportunities. Maybe they already have more than then need. Prestige Deck and Fence may provide great work but you'll need to take time off of your job to provide them that opportunity. Buyer Beware! When I asked the owner of the company, if 5 steps at the end of a dock would be enough, he said I could decide after our dock was in, but went ahead and built the stairs with 8 steps and charged an additional $757 without saying a word, or giving me a choice. He estimated $4000 to move some dirt and cover with seed and straw, but charged $7,888.00 without a word being said about why he couldn't do it for $4000, or how much more it might cost, or giving us any choice in the matter. We paid all of the expected charges on time. When we questioned the overages of $4,645, he was quick to point out item 30 of the 'Conditions' which states that we have to pay for any additional labor needed to 'complete the project', and any additional materials at cost plus 20%. He also pointed out items 47 & 48 which state that a late fee of $50 will be charged if not paid within 10 days, and an additional 10% will be added every 10 days, and the warranty will be cancelled (which was only for 1 year anyway), and on and on. These might seem to be reasonable terms for what we expected to pay when we signed the agreement, but were devastating when it was apparent that we had no idea what he was going to charge us until we got the final bill, and he could charge us anything he wanted to. So, our advice if you want to do any business with this company, is to have your own lawyer review the contract, and make sure you have everything in writing, because the owner tends to forget, or misremember any verbal commitment he makes. It's also a good idea to be on site every day, to prevent mistakes that might not be visible after the project is completed, or would be costly to correct. read more

I wasn't impressed with the owners communication skills, and found him to be arrogant. Their price was on the high end of average. They require a contract that puts money in their pocket the day you sign, then the customer must wait (in my case weeks) for the work to be performed. I cannot speak to the quality of their work, only to the experience I had attempting to negotiate an agreement for work: which basically meant I give them money and wait for a product. So I hired another 5-star company and they didn't ask for money up-front, their quote was nearly $900 less, and their crew showed up within two weeks and performed the entire job in one day. I paid them in cash on the same day and am totally satisfied with a very simple project result. read more

I should have known by my first encounter with Prestige Deck and Fence when we were looking for a company to build two decks for us back in April 2017. First, I found it odd that they insisted on having both my husband and myself at the appointment and they also would not accommodate us by obtaining an estimate in the evening or on a weekend. They would only meet with both of us during the week day requiring my husband to take time off work. As we ending up going with Fletcher Construction who did a PHENOMENAL job on our two decks, we ended up cancelling our estimate with them. In fact, Fletcher Construction did such s great job, we have referred several people to them. So, when it was time to get estimates for a fence for our 3 1/2 acre yard, I once again reached out to them to get an estimate as they had good reviews. I thought I would give them another chance. So, when I called them, the lady wanted our HOA information and the survey of our house. I told her we didn't have an HOA and we didn't get a survey. The lady insisted we would have received it with our closing paperwork. I told her we didn't get one and she said it was required. I asked my husband and he agreed that we didn't have one as it was optional and would have costed us $550 so we had decided not to get one. With that said, she took it upon herself to contact the management company who handles our subdivision and forwarded me the email from them saying they indeed had a HOA and attached the request form. Our subdivision for two of the 3 streets does have an HOA, although our street does not. We don't pay any HOA fees, nor do we have the subdivisions name on a big stone wall at the beginning of our street and all of the neighbors on our street must take turns cutting the grass on the common areas. But, she didn't believe me on either issues, basically calling me a liar. She totally overstepped her bounds. We were only getting an estimate for goodness sakes. When I noticed the email where she forwarded an email from the management company who maintains the HOA for the other streets in our subdivision, I was livid!!! I called her back asking why would she do that? Then, after no good explanation I asked to speak to the owner, which happen to be her husband. After a long hold, he came on the phone and starts out saying he thought we should end our relationship. What relationship?? We were only asking for an estimate! We hadn't even chosen them to do any work. Weird, huh? They were 1 of 5 companies that I had contacted to obtain estimates. So, if you choose to go with this company, consider my situation. Just know, there are many fence companies in the Stafford and Fredricksburg area with great reviews. read more
