My girlfriend and I came in last Thursday. We stared at the Bar where Ashlei was taking car of us. we enjoyed multiple $2.00 shiners. After awhile we paid out and went to the patio for live music!! Hunter then became our server. It was outstanding. So many amazing bands played we laughed had fun and enjoyed some delicious steaks. All in all great experience! My wife liked her drink, but the top shelf margarita I ordered wasn't very good. We enjoyed the food, and I'd recommend the Reuben. We brought home strawberry cheesecake that turned out to be cherry cheesecake. Do not order the nasty cheesecake. You've been warned. Staff was friendly, prices were reasonable. If I could give zero stars I would. Our waiter was Alfonso. We came for a night out with friends and had poor service overall the whole night. It was busy and not that big of a deal until it was time for the check. We had a group of around 8 people and we had said at the beginning that we all wanted separate checks. He brought out a $200 ticket for everyone's tab and asked us to separate our tabs individually. We had to write out what we each had ordered and handed him back the tickets. After not hearing back from him we had somebody go find the waiter to which he responded that the manager would not override the ticket and could not split the check. He had not come to the table to tell us this so we're not sure what the plan was, was he just not going to tell us? The manager came back and told us that they could split the check and asked us to write down what we got AGAIN. They eventually figured out how to split the ticket but it required somebody from our group to literally stand at the computer and help the waiter and the manager split the tickets. The whole process from when we asked for our ticket to when we got to leave took 2 hours. I've never been so frustrated with service and management in my life. read more

First time visit after 7 Bar and Grill change to J's. Has been remodeled to favor the bar experience. We got a seat in dining area. Way to loud. Take ear plugs. Wait staff does not know what beers are on tap. 36 on tap and no clue on what is available. Got Manager to help us. Got beers ordered. Beer list is a must so no confusion to wait staff. Ordered green chili burger. Wait staff had to bring me a side of green chili to complete the green chili burger. Order green chili and I want green chili. Infusion in burger with 3 pieces of green chili does not make it a stuffed green chili burger. Put green chili on the burger! Burger and fries were good. I might go back again, but if we go through this meal experience again, probably not. read more

My friend and I had dinner here about 6:30 Thursday evening. We were seated a little too close to music for conversation and they reseated us very nicely to where we could enjoy the music and conversation too. The service was very good and we were quickly served. The meal itself was very tasty and we were attended to during the meal an appropriate amount of times. Just like Soncy street this is a quickly growing new establishment in Amarillo. It's atmosphere and cheap drinks/meals have made it an up and coming bar and grill in Amarillo. Fast forward a few years and it may even be the place to go. However now it's new and still just has a lot of potential. I eat here at least once a month if not more. Some of the food is made a little differently than most places. There are twists to some dishes that I quite enjoy. Try the hand breaded mozzarella sticks. It is somewhat loud more often than not, but I still love it. read more

Well Jake's has deffinitely stepped up their game. Seems as if they have weeded out and kept the best wait staff. I was hesitant on visiting again but very glad i did. We had excellent service and great hot food. And their salad bar is anything but "average!" I dont know of another restaurant in amarillo with a salad bar like that. I really like this place. Only second time here, but the service has been great. I had the Chicken fried steak and it was really good, chili peppers in the gravy was awesome. Beer is ice cold and they have a great selection. Do need to update their draft selection at the table menu though. I will be back next time I am in Amarillo. read more

SUCKS!! Wait staff was horrible, food sat under the lights while other staff looked at the ticket, to determine it was not their table and left the food still. Sadly, that's not the worst part of the place; the food was not even prepared correctly. A Greek salad was made a a Caesar salad and a pastrami sandwich was some pork product. My girlfriend and I are on a road trip from California on highway 40 and knew we wanted to stop to eat in Texas. The only problem was it was 11pm and barely anyone was open. We looked up restaurants near Amarillo and 7 Grill and Bar came up. We decided to give it a shot and were pleasantly surprised. The food is very reasonably priced and delicious (we got the cheese sticks, chicken fried chicken sandwich, and angus burger). The atmosphere is youthful but relaxing. The thing that stood out the most however, was the customer service. The staff was all very friendly from the moment we walked in, but once we mentioned we were from out of state, they went above and beyond any expectations we had, even offering to send us on the road with some soft drinks. I would highly recommend this restaurant whether you're local or just passing through. read more

We were excited about trying out Jake's but were quickly disappointed. Ordered a margarita and must say it had to be the worst I have ever had!!! Didn't know you could mess up a margarita!? Had to send it back as it was not even drinkable. Was like pulling teeth to even get a glass of water which was never even offered. My pork chop (apricot chipolte) was under cooked...not eatable and would agree with Wesley R. On that whole thing. Veggies were cold as well as my baked potato. My husbands steak which was ordered medium was like chewing a leather shoe it was so well done. But of course they didn't even ask if it was cooked okay. His veggies and potato were cold as well. We were there on February 20, 2011. We loved it the Poblano Burger was one of the best burgers I have ever had. The Waitress was young but did a very good job. My wife had the salad bar which was very good. We will defineltly return and would recommend Jake's to anyone. read more

Stopped in on our way from Missouri to California. Couldn't have found a better place to eat and unwind. Sat at the bar, watched Monday Night football on one of their many TVs, ate a delicious smothered chicken dish and sipped cocktails. The owner went out of his way to talk with us for quite a while and ended up buying us a round of drinks. Our bartender was darling and enjoyed chatting with her and her husband who had stopped in. We arrived in Amarillo, TX around 10:30 PM on Sunday. Only a handful of restaurants were open at that time. We picked 7 Grill & Bar because it was still open. Experience was above expectation. I ordered Kona Java Stout which was really great, and it was only $4.50; I almost had two. I had many varieties of coffee flavored beer but this was awesome. Our waitress, Caitlin, was very perky, attentive; but not bothersome. Our burgers were well prepared and french fries were crisp and well cooked. Overall, very pleasant experience. read more

My wife and I stopped in for a beer and some bar food. We sat at a table for two in the bar area, right next to the bar. Three waitresses passed by without giving us a glance. I finally went up to the bar to order and was ignored by a bearded bartender who was hitting on a customer. A different bartender came by and said he'd like to help, but that wasn't his section of the bar. While I was still waiting at the bar, a waitress came over to my wife at the table and said there was a mix-up on who was supposed to wait on our table,and she was ready to serve us. My wife said she didn't need to bother because we were handling our own drinks. By this time the bearded bartender still couldn't tear himself away from the redhead, so the other bartender came over, apologized for the bearded guy, and said he'd break the rules and help us. This was our second visit, thought we would give it another try. We waited to be seated as there was no hostess. We sat in a booth which was cramped. We ordered a cheeseburger, hamburger and spaghetti. It took quite a long time to come out and there were only about 3 other tables seated. When the food came out they didn't bring my sons hamburger because they had accidentally put cheese on it and when they finally brought out another one we were half way through our meal, his burger came out rare and I just let him finish my burger. The manager did come by, he was aware that they had made a mistake and that the burger came out rare, we asked for the food tom go at that point and received our bill and they had overcharged us, we pointed it out and they corrected it. There really is no reason to return, the food wasn't bad but nothing to come back for and had the management offered to take the burger off our check it would have shown some desire to make their mistakes offset our long wait. read more

My family and I decided to go to 7 for lunch. We had purchased one of those coupon books from a local school and 7 was one of the coupons free cheese sticks with the order of 2 entrees. So when we arrived we gave our drink order and the coupon to the waitress. No problem the cheese sticks arrived and we ate them. No big deal right, all is going well. Then in the middle of our entree the "manager" or whatever he was decided that he needed to come to our table and explain that the cheese sticks were not eligible for Sunday's service even though we bought 4 entrees. I looked at him with disbelief. My wife spoke up and told him it was fine before I had a chance to speak my mind. First: had I known it wouldn't be eligible I wouldn't have ordered it. Second: why didn't the wait staff know and Third: why didn't he come out before it was served and eaten? Did not appreciate being railroaded and dont know if I will be back. read more
