Pinkston was hired to completely rebuild my chimney from the roofline up and install a liner. We…read morelater agreed to replace the flashing. Before we hired them, we had a conversation to confirm that the roof was going to be protected as our roof was only a few years old. He confirmed and reassured us it would. As the job was performed, no protection was used on the roof around the chimney. The shingles got pulled up during the flashing removal and the mortar got under the shingles and completely compromised the tar lines that seal the shingles down. With the flashing removed, they proceeded to rinse off the roof with a hose during the entire work day to remove mortar, resulting in water intrusion into my house. Some shingles were also ripped and all the shingles were mortar stained around the chimney and the lower roof where the run off was. He attempted to temporarily seal the base of the chimney multiple times before the new flashing, but later rain entered the house. He refused to take responsibility for the damage he caused. He proceeded to act hostile and was very aggressive which resulted in us firing him. We had to have another company finish the chimney and replace that section of roof. We went to small claims court and won a judgement from the court. Currently Pinkston owes us money for damages we occurred and will not respond to any of our messages or calls. There is also a better business bureau complaint for someone else having water issues.

They even went above and beyond to work with my existing antiquated utilities. The mess left behind was no worse than that of other tradesmen I have hired (dust, greasy fingerprints, bootprints, etc). One of the men took one of my kitchen towels and used it as a rag without asking. It was then left balled up on the floor. I didn't even bother calling to complain about this, but in retrospect...* * * * This may have been a tactic to draw my attention away from the shelf where my personal belongings were stolen from.* * * * If you hire this company, get the full names of ALL of the workers who will be in your home. Google them before letting them in. If your gut tells you not to let them in, do not let them in. Do not take your eyes off them for a second. Do not allow one worker to distract you while the other(s) are unattended. If possible, place cameras, even around items of no/low value, kids' toys, knick-knacks, etc, even if they are too high up to reach normally. If you do not have video cameras, take before pictures of any room they have access to. Do not allow them to remove trash/debris from your home. Insist that they leave any garbage bags behind and check them thoroughly before throwing them away yourself. Take inventory of your belongings immediately. Record and photograph anything odd, even if it isn't something you would usually bother complaining about. If anything has gone missing, NO MATTER HOW LOW IN VALUE, file a police report. The technician was shown where the problem was in the attic but didn't have the equipment with him to test it. He returned the following week, tested the faulty union, and went to get the parts necessary. We asked how much it was going to cost and he gave us an estimate before heading out for parts. He came back and within ten minutes left again for parts. The third trip for parts was finally adequate and it took him less than half an hour to make the repair. He then told us we owed over $200 more than the quote!! I called and questioned the owner who promised to put thru a $95 credit. When the credit card bill arrived, there was no credit. We called again and were told they didn't know what happened to it since it was mailed three weeks prior. (The owner was "too busy" to take the call). Two days later we got a check for $90. The envelope was postmarked the day of our last call. Our recommendation is that you look for heating or ac service from a reputable company that is efficient, knowledgeable, and, most importantly, honest.
