This is the worst, most unprofessional moving company I have ever done business with! During our move into our BRAND NEW house the movers knocked big chunks out of our walls and ceiling all throughout our house, broke a TV, and a desk. The owner is a complete jerk and refused to pay to have the TV replaced. A $650 TV and he said he would find a used one or give my husband $250. He also stated that is movers said my desk was junk and ready to fall apart. My desk was perfect until they got their hands on it. He is supposed to be sending a furniture company out to fix the desk but they can't get to us until VALENTINES DAY. According to him that is no longer his problem! He says he will pay for the repairs to the house but at this point I have a hard time believing him. The fact that he has not stood behind his employees mistakes speaks volumes! We arranged for 2 loaders to come and help us load a truck. Arrangements made 10 days before and verified the day before. They NEVER SHOWED UP. We had a truck waiting and nobody to load it. This is on a Friday afternoon. Would not answer the phone. We never got an explanation. read more

We called A-1 Movers to just pack our truck for a move from Iowa to AZ. They were scheduled to arrive at 10:00 am. They texted and said they were on their way. Did not show so we called. They said since we did not respond to their text they took another job but said they would be at our place at 2:30 pm. Did not show, called again, they showed up at 6:35 pm. We had help earlier and only would have needed them for 2 hours ($300.). Help had other commitments so we lost them and ended up with a $657. bill from A-1 after promising us they would make it right. Slammed too many things hard and broke totes. Would not say they are reliable, timely or careful with your stuff. Not worth the risk. read more

Im a little late getting this on here but wanted to say we hired A1 movers for our recent move. Other than being late, which they did call and inform us, the guys were AWESOME! The problem here is more with the company management. The movers dropped one of my kitchen boxes and everything inside was broken and all of my dinning chairs received damage because of how they were stacked in the van. Two months later and I still have not gotten a response from the moving company on how to get compensated even after repeatedly contacting them and sending photos of the damage. read more

A1 did a great job with our move. The movers were on time and worked quickly. They worked quickly throw the off and on rain/snow we had that day being careful to keep our stuff outside for as little time as possible, and to lay down blankets to keep from tracking water through the house. I was very impressed with the service they provided. read more

Worst costumer service we've experienced in Iowa. Two of the three movers were great and hustling. The third was the boss's son. He barely did anything all day. When my husband called to complain, the owner said he'd refund for his son. He never sent a check and now refuses. This company is dishonest. read more

I would like to first off say the movers were late by 45 mins and did not contact me beforehand to let me know. Secondly, they are WAY overpriced. I had everything boxed and ready to go. The move itself only took two hours TOTAL. I was moving from DSM to Waukee and given a bill of $479 (for a one bedroom apt with no dining set and only 15 boxes). Also, I had to move anything not in a box, leaving all tvs and electronics for me to move; they did not grab all my wall decorations either. Note, I have moved for work (3) times in the last year and NEVER received a bill this high for such little work. Instead of charging mileage, they bill you at a rate of $135 per hour.. meaning, I paid for travel time at a rate of $135 per hour on top of a $50 service fee. HORRIBLE company and will never recommend or use EVER again. read more

Very unprofessional. They showed up late, took their time between loads to run up the time so they could charge more. Only one guy carried an item from the apartment to the truck, and from the truck to the apartment, and took them at least 5-10 mins to come back to the apartment to the truck. They brought a dead power drill with them, which they had to charge at the apartment, wasting another 20-25 minutes before they could take down our bed. We had a brand new couch they scratched in five different places, and when told about the damage to our couch, they told us it's because the couch was too big. The same couch had been moved in and out of apartments and never been scratched. Don't waste your time with this moving company...they don't respect your furniture and behave unprofessionally. There are way better moving companies out there. Never will I hire them again or recommend them to anyone. Horrible, horrible service. read more
