*Update rating* I've been meaning to come back on here to update my original post. After I mentioned my experience below - my mother received a phone call from the office and was reimbursed an amount for her inconvenience and the misunderstanding. My mother did appreciate the attempt to right the wrong and we've kept our things in there for now. I did want to post that because just as businesses should be called out on bad service - it's also important to acknowledge the good. Thank you for reaching out to my mother and taking care of this. I searched and found this place on YELP for my mother. Later I found out her monthly payment includes additional charges for insurance on her belongings. I went to the location because I didn't think that was right, especially since my mother is a homeowner and is insured through her home insurance. Sure enough, the contract states if unable to produce proof of insurance they'll be an additional charge for insuring your items there. Since my mother couldn't produce this proof at the time they marked the box that had her pay additional. That, for me, raises a red flag. When I had asked to see my mother's contract, the manager (maria?) said she couldn't show it to me unless my mother authorized it. My mother was standing right next to me. Could she have worded her policy different and in a tone more customer friendly? Sure. How about: Sure, I can definitely address your concerns and retrieve your mother's contract - ma'am (addressing my mother) per policy I'll need your authorization, do you authorize the retrieval of your contract? Great, I'll pull this right up for you. I had her insurance company fax over the proof - I haven't heard back from them but I presume everything is now accurate and charges have been removed. To me, I feel they attempted to take advantage of a customer who they felt didn't know any better. Doing shady business like that is ALWAYS BAD business. I'm writing this review so that the company can take a step back and reassess their priority. Good business means treating your customers with respect and providing the highest quality of customer service. If a person comes in and is not knowledgable of the services you provide or the process, this is your opportunity to gain their trust and business by educating them on the process and allowing them to make informed decisions of how they choose to use your services. Will I recommend this storage unit to anyone? I may mention it, share our experience - and warn them to do their own research about it. Are we going to stick around? No, we're currently looking to relocate her things to another facility that we feel we can trust. read more

Place is ok but they keep raising the rent too often. I'll be getting my stuff out of there going with a different place.

I just recently started renting at A-1 Storage a couple of weeks ago. Setting up the reservation online and completing my contract at the office was easy and quick. Patricia, the one who completed my contract, went over all the details and instructions as to how the place works and the services they offer (office hours, gate hours, free use of their carts, etc). She also set up my automatic payment to be debited from my account so I won't have to worry about the payment being made on time. She was very friendly and made sure all my questions were answered. The place looks secure and very well maintained (very clean). So far I'm very happy with my decision to rent here. Their service was fantastic. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a storage facility. read more

I was a customer of Public Storage for years thinking that the well-known brand name would be better than the others. I was highly mistaken. Compared to the PS facility I used, A-1 is a dream. The facility is clean, well-maintained, friendly-staffed and extremely good value for the price and space. 10 months ago Stephanie had amazing customer service. However I don't know if they changed personnel or management. Paul gave wrong dates ( information) on late fee's. I was a customer for 10 months and now looking for a facility who can be accurate. Manager Mary refused to transfer to someone who could actually help this situation. Never again having a storage here. She tried saying I was in Pre Lien a couple of times which was NOT true. Happy to finally move my things out of here. I know my things are worth more than their late fees. I can easily pay them but it's not fair & when you know what's right then why settle and give them free $$$. read more

This is my 2nd time using this facility and I must admit the Staff is Courteous, Pleasant & Professional at all times, they make me feel comfortable whenever I've come to the office or called them. The property is always clean. I checked prices with another company before renting a space and I didn't feel welcome, comfortable or at ease that my belongings would be safe, not to mention their prices were higher and they only wanted to sell me prepaid monthly rentals. By far A-1 Storage has been the best for me. I highly recommend them. read more

I came here during regular business hours 2:15pm to be exact and no one was available at the business office. I drove out here to specifically store at this location. I waited 20 minutes and still no one is here to assist potential new clients. Obviously new management is needed! I used their courtesy phone but still no one answer. Good place to store your belonging's, Secure, Clean, professional environment most of the time.Friendly staff. Just wish they hadn't raised the rates recently. It's still manageable if you have income. I miss some of the old staff members, but the new ones are just as pleasant to do business with. I rented a ground floor 10x20 unit last Sunday and it was the quickest most pain free rental I have ever had the pleasure of renting. The women in the office were all smiles and extremely friendly, efficient, and informative! I was in and out of the office in minutes and even had some candy from the bowl on the counter which gave me some extra energy for loading my unit. The only unpleasant part of the whole experience was unloading the truck! It was a breeze and highly appreciated on a Sunday morning! I would recommend A1 over any of the other storage facilities in the area. Fairly priced, conveniently located in Paramount, and amazing and efficient staff made my experience 5 stars (6if I could!).
