I've used their services twice and it was a great experience each time with wholesome people. It was honestly my first time leaving Southern Massachusetts traveling up North using the train system taking a taxi for the first time and these guys provided a great service. Took me where I needed to go and was more affordable than Uber. And might I add they were very fast. I'd call them in 3 minutes later. They were pulling up on the curb. Picking me up. This is the most crooked company I have ever dealt with. Do not use their service. I cancelled a taxi over 24 hours before booking. They said no refund without 48 hours notice! I used fareway taxis they charged 8 instead of 21 fir a one and half mile trip. don't use a1 they are crooks. I didn't get my refund and as a pensioner I had to pay for 2 taxis. My car recently broke down and I needed a cab to get to work. I called at 6:20 and was told it would be 15mins. They showed up late with another guy in the cab...ok no biggie I thought, as long as I'm not paying extra... So by the time we dropped him off, it was now 7:15 when we got on my part of the journey. I specifically woke up early to avoid the traffic on 3S and now we got there at the height of when the traffic starts to gets bad.. great.. So we take an alternate route (which I had asked if there was, However I didn't expect us to take the serious alternate route that he chose to take which was all the way around and never getting back on the highway again...ok This was surprising since we have both agreed that the traffic opens up after a couple of exits; instead he took this alternate all the way to my final destination which added a lot of time. Best part is there is no meter to tell you the rate you are paying so when I expected $25-30 max especially with the inconvenience added from being late, dropping off another passenger, and taking this route- I was displeased (read: I helplessly started to shed bits of tears from sheer frustration) when I was "told" it was $40- i asked what the mileage was an was told that fee is just the standard between my two locations...grrrrr... So if i went from one end to the other it would be the same price??? yeah, sounds honest to me... what gets me most is that i would have walked once we got to $30- but thats my own fault for not asking for price updates since i couldnt see a meter. i still have a car to fix/purchase so walking part of the way would not deter me if it saved some of my resources. Overall, I would give only one star if the diver hasn't been a nice guy. However, VERY POOR SERVICE. I am now walking the little bit of my journey to my work (we had to get cash from an ATM because they don't take card) due to the fact that I couldn't even stand the thought of getting back in the car for the few blocks down to my actual job site- I feel very swindled and I will not be using them again. read more

I use A-1 a few times a week. I don't have a car, and usually take public transportation to work - but since Lowell's buses stop really early at night and don't run early enough on Saturdays/at all on Sundays, I need to take the occasional taxi. I've tried most of the companies in Lowell, and this one is my favorite. Their cars are the cleanest, they're usually very punctual, and their drivers don't skeeve me out. Not to mention, their prices are some of the lowest out of all of the options. I'm a fan. read more

I should have read the reviews first. Lesson learned. First off this is NOT about my driver. I did not get his name, but my ride was on 11/8/16 from Riverneck Rd. to the North Billerica commuter rail station. Nice guy. Very friendly and even offered to let me sit in warm car until my train came. HE deserves 5 stars. Tho company does NOT. I called the night before to schedule this ride. I didn't think to ask if credit cards are accepted because, well, its 2016 people! When we arrived at the station the driver told me he had no machine and I woukd have to pay over the radio to dispatch OK no problem. THEY CHARGED ME $5 JUST FOR USING THE CARD!! Why am I being penalized because your system is outdated? Ridiculous! read more

Fairly decent in time arrival and price. Called around 9:35 and got picked up at 9:50. When I got in, there was a lady in the passenger seat smoking a cigarette and the driver parked at a bank for I don't know what reason. The lady proceeded with her second cigarette and when the driver came back, smoked a black as well. He dropped her off, was on his way to take me, but insisted he needed to pick up his landlord cause "[he] promised [he] would," to which he smoked a cigarette too..well I missed my bus for 10 o clock and spent a good half hour in the vehicle and arrived to my destination at 10:20. No one should wait that long in at taxi or endure all that cigarette smoke. Be courteous to others around as well as the time. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. I was trying to find a taxi for a very independent disabled elderly friend and needed a cab that could accommodate an electric power scooter. It comes apart into 3 pieces easily and can fit in a large trunk with no problem (I even drew a large numbered diagram). We needed her picked up from Chelmsford, ma and brought to East Boston. They quoted me a price of $85 and told me they would definitely be able to fit the scooter, so I set it up. They show up the next day telling my friend they weren't going to do it, refused to even look at the diagram. I called them they said they might attempt but whoever I spoke to quoted the wrong price and it would be $105! Shame on them for such unethical business practices and limiting the Elderly and Handicapable! #Massachusetts #Boston read more

Don't use! These people are crooks and have the worst customer service. They will show up late and leave five minutes later without calling to say they've arrived. I paid over the phone and after two incidents they still won't issue me a refund. Better off calling an uber. read more

Worst cab company ever and rude as fuck. So here what happened i called this taxi and they said they will be there i 10 minutes i got blown off by another taxi and was waiting for 1 hr and a half so went inside to wait since it was 80 something degrees out and i was sweating. Called 20 minutes later then the dispatcher say to me " i sent a taxi there 10 minutes ago you werent outside so he left, i said it was hot and i went inside to wait why didnt you call me, He said this is not a limo service, taxis dont call people and i am not sending another one to you and was very rude and arrogant. Worst customer service and cab company ever. Called back to complain and ask to talk to the owner, get this he was the owner and i said your rude and that was uncalled for, and this is the worst cab company i ever called, he said his company was rated the best and hung up. I work late nights at UMass Lowell's Dining Hall four times a week. I am usually able to get a ride from my boyfriend, but on his work nights (late nights as well) I have to take a taxi. Last week I used A1, and I had no problem with it. The driver last week quoted $8, and he was pretty nice. Tonight, I called again, for the same time to be picked up, and to the same destination. My cab was almost 15 minutes late, which is terrible, because last week, the driver was right on time. I also have a 9am class tomorrow, so I would like to get home from work as fast as possible so I can get some sleep. I called to ask where my cab was-dispatcher was rude, didn't ask for my location or anything that would help the driver get there faster, and just flatly said "You're cab is on it's way, bye" and promptly hung up. Finally he arrived, and drove me back home-speeding the whole time. Nice. When he pulled up in front of my house he asked for $9, and I said, "Last week the driver told me it was $8." And he replied with "Well, he's wrong." This is such unacceptable, unprofessional service. I called to complain, and the dispatcher (who, at this point, I think is also the driver) kept hanging up on me.
